I think... the untold story about Thor is... that he was, in FACT, MORE than aware that he had committed atrocity when he murdered the Giants. He's aware he's half GIANT, imagine how horrifying it is for him to massacre his own maternal race. But that's the way he was raised. As an Aesir. Brutally. By Odin. Kill your own kind, or face Odin's wrath. That's the only choice he had all his life - lacking Odin's capacity for guile and cunning - he tried to win an approval from a father with an impossibly high standard. So he did everything to win his approval - including massacring the giant - but to no avail. By the time he realized his mistake, he had cut off whatever connection he had with maternal kin - by his own murderous deeds. He was feared and hated. His own siblings, Heimdall and Balder, hated and feared him. Heimdall in particular most likely insulted him behind his back whenever he think Thor wasn't listening. None of the norse people worship him out of love. He had no love from anyone. He's aware of it, but he can't do anything about it. So he run to drinking. Which makes things just even worse. Then he met Sif - most likely in a drunken rampage or something... and he tried to start a family. And for a while, it worked. I think. In spite of the abuse he heaped on his two sons. And we all know how that ended up with Modi and Magni. Mimir mentioned this abuse was because that's how Odin taught Thor. I think it is also because Thor wanted to push his sons in hope they'll be better than him. To please Odin as well. Again, to no avail. Frustrated by the obvious failure, hence the physical abuse. I don't know for sure when Sif decided to go sober, was it before or after Thrud was born. But, after Modi and Magni died, Sif - now very sober, gave Thor an ultimatum: GET SOBER. You only have one daughter left!! And so he tried. Which... didn't work, what's with Odin's constant abuse and the withdrawal. The boiling point, was when Sif tried to remind Thor of the happiness they once had with Modi and Magni. She was trying to show it was ODIN who caused all this. Also, Thor is still more afraid of Odin. Between this and his anger for losing his sons and siblings, Atreus stood well within blast range. And we all know what happened afterwards. I can only imagine Odin gave Thor HELL after that. Especially after the Allfather lost the mask. By the time Kratos get to Ragnarok, what we're facing was an Angry God which has been tortured and abused by Odin to the point that he can no longer reason. He just wants to destroy everyone responsible for his most recent pain. - or so Odin think.
Such a tragic tale of Thor. I have a theory that Fyorgyn (Thor's Mum) actually died in childbirth. This drives Odin into a deep despair since Mimir even states that Odin was never the same afterwards. So this grief-stricken Odin takes it out on his own son as a coping mechanism and it reflects in how he treats him and how Thor even calls himself a destroyer. I could be wrong since Odin is such a sociapathic manipulating liar. But it seems like a likely reason for Odin's parental abuse.
While the entire Norse series is known for the "one continuous camera shot" style of gameplay, I think the cantina fight is the pinnacle of genius in this style.
0:32 How should it have been the other way around, she shouldn't have brought Atreus here? Cause we know that Thor didn't like the fact that she's here so he clearly didn't bring her here...
