hi Nick, Thank you very much for this video! I think you break down the different steps very well. This adds a strong motivational factor to try the medium! Regards, Coert Mommsen, Potchefstroom, South Africa
I found this really useful because it was simple, easy to follow and you used a basic set up that most people starting out will have, rather than top of the range equipment.
You trace your design with graphite, flip it onto the lino (graphite facing down onto the lino) and then trace the design again to transfer the graphite onto the lino. This is why tracing paper or thin printing paper comes in handy, because you can easily see your design through the back of the paper. Hope this helps!
... and mind your fingers, these cutting tools are sharp ... didn't the kit come with a protection for the fingers? Or get butchers gloves. They should protect your thumb in the future.
Yeah why would he cut it before carving? You can see how much he fumbles trying to carve. Also, he cut his thumb carving it xD 6:14 . I would glue the lino on a block of wood and use a bench holder for sure.

Any recommendations on storage of finished prints, using oil based inks as the medium and acid free paper as the substrate?
Brilliant video. I have learnt a lot. Thank you x
Glad it helped! :)
Thanks for this! What’s the best way to clean the roller and tray after use?
I find warm water and a bit of soap if needed world great as it’s water soluble ink! Hope this helps!
Thank you sir for shearing this .

Haha 😅
How are you meant to transfer the design to the lino? (cause he skipped that bit)
Exactly, left out the most crucial bit!
You trace your design with graphite, flip it onto the lino (graphite facing down onto the lino) and then trace the design again to transfer the graphite onto the lino. This is why tracing paper or thin printing paper comes in handy, because you can easily see your design through the back of the paper. Hope this helps!
Simple and informative for me, a beginner. Thanks!
+Maureen Menon I'm glad it helped you out! 😄
