The pre-turbo hybrid engine notes have an amazing impact on the listener. The cars from 2010, for example, are 3-5 seconds a lap slower than today's, but they sound faster, which makes them appear faster.
Finally, a truly hi-speed track without any silly Tilke slow-speed corners.
Which means no overtaking
@@rnichol22 Every lap you can overtake at Tarzan. DRS can be opened very early in the banked corner.
@@jeroen3657 literally one overtake opportunity and it's a slim one. This track is going to be dirty air paradise... Still can't believe they took the German gp off after the great gp we had last year
@@julessteenkeste8757 It would be most epic track for V10 era... not so much for those cars sadly.
Jules Steenkeste German GP ran out of funds. Mercedes has to sponsor the event for it to have existed last year
There's gonna be some huge crashes on this track when drivers are trying to overtake!
There not will be overtakes in this circuit
It’s not like Monaco is any better
@@noutdehoog5572 Yeah but monaco isnt as fast as this circuit, also it is a lot more safe than this one, there are going to be huge crashes on this traxk.
I disagree
@@CaptainKoosh nice, get some action in the parade.
The last corner. I've named it "the slingshot"
Good name, but it hasa great name.. it's called the 'Arie Luyendijk corner' after the only dutch indy 500 winner 👌😊
@spilot101 They turn right now?! :O
Mike Spearwood
They mean the Indianapolis road course obviously... 🙄
@@vectro4284 Fair enough.
Hienoa Tero!
That’s an exciting lap. Didn’t see anywhere to pass unfortunately. Going to be a dull race.
0:20 look how high the wide line exit is to that turn, big advantage to going in there on the outside if they have the courage
well, can't be any duller than the last 'Race'
@@SmokeyBCN There's no way to get alongside there. I think the banking is more to negate the effect of dirty air not to allow them to go side by side. Remains to be seen how effective it will be. Could be dull as dishwater or weirdly exactly what Formula 1 needed to improve the show.
@@John-ok8ts i think there is still a possibility. There were some overtakes on that banking in f3. But f3 isn’t f1 so we’ll see

Doohan Silverstone 2020 race 1
F1: Okay guys, we're struggling for overtaking action
Also F1: Let's go to Zandvoort. Famous for no overtaking in every racing class.
i agree looks nice to drive but not to race.. too many tedium speed corners that dont have heavy braking zones. biggest stop seemed the chicane which looked easy to defend.. might be boring if dry race..
@@Chongo_657 last turn is gonna be a fantastic overtaking opportunity if someone figures out the best line
For me Turn 1 (Tarzan) looks perfect for overtaking, very difficult to defend. I think we'll see a lot of overtaking around the outside of that turn.
Yeah doesn't look good for overtaking, Looks just like roller coaster of a track. Hopefully I'm wrong, But I doubt that 🤣
Yeah it will be terrible.
And looks quite unsafe at some pints with barely any runoff with walls waiting to kill drivers...
Miss the sound of those extra cylinders 😭
More of extra rpm...
The sound of no turbo
Koen Blank It’s mostly the way the turbo spool is implemented into the exhaust line that makes the V6 turbo hybrids sound so shit, not just the fact that it’s turbocharged
And the beautiful look without the ugly halo
@@Vhs.dreams Yes, the ugly halo that has saved many drivers
Love the banking on those corners
Easily the most interesting and creative track in the lineup in terms of layout/construction
Oh yes. Awesome car and awesome track. Zandvoort is one of my favorite F1 tracks. Great work
every time i see that banked corner im just so impressed, its sooooo amazing
its barely banked at all.. such a let down
@@mikelow4374 I didn't even notice it at first.
@@mikelow4374 its not a game, they can't make it a wall ride xD
Miss the days of Indianapolis
@@Marpurrsa Actually they could with a nice transition, you can ride a wallride even on bikes, it would be a joke for an F1 car, the hardest part is design and construction.
Anyway that is underwhelming compared to what they built even a century ago where there was even the AVUS in Berlin.
Gotta say it's the gotta be the most interesting track since Buddh circuit, it's gonna be a real treat to see the drivers battle it out here
the problem is that you will see less overtakes than France 2019
@@TikerFighter Yeah, could be a problem being that it was an old circuit so cars back then were smaller compared to the monsters we have now
It looks like fun to watch and for them to drive, Not sure if they can really battle or overtake.
Caleb Kan the distance between turns seems really short though... which would mean the pack would be closer together compensating for the few overtaking spots
@@twandepan Yeah that's what I'm hoping for. Even if overtaking will be difficult the pack might be bunched up creating some opportunistic lunges
Hmm, unsure of this, 2020 cars are lower so it’ll be interesting to see how they take the banking, plus the track looks really thin, don’t want another Monaco
they change the hight for different tracks
Thin? Only in a couple spots. Most of it is pretty wide actually. There's a channel with drone footage of it where you can see it more clearly. Most of it is wider than a lot of the other circuits on the schedule.
They don't care what you want? And me neither...
@@davebcf1231 Well it's a give and take I think, I personally think the track looks awesome, just awesome. But then I tend to like thing's like Monaco, Leguna Seca, and shy away from long many turn technical tracks like say Barcelona. Not that I don't like the difficulty of more turns and everything, but Seems like this track here, Leguna Seca and some others still have some good turns to navigate, they don't distrupt some natural "flow" and make the track more open to the drivers intuition and feeling maybe? Of course the traditional F1 fan will probably not like it which is a valid opinion of course.

This new track is probably the most interesting thing in F1 2020... nicely fast and flowing and lots of camber!

I'm looking forward to Zandvoort getting more attention on AC1. DTM class there was some of the most fun I've ever had online.
@@vanderspaced Yeah for sure. rFactor 2 is my favorite sim, so I hope they update it also. They have released periodic updates on Zandvoort, as recently as 2019, so I can seem them adding the new layout.

Slight risk of rain forecasted for Sunday. ☔🏁🏎️
legit one of the most fun tracks to drive, feels like a rollercoaster with all the hills and fast corners
Portimao >
Where can you pass though?
Everybody talking of overtakes at the first corner, but i think most of the action will be at turn 3, where so many different lines are possible
no there won't be any overtaking anywhere
There will be zero overtakes, the race will be a procession but quali will be cool to watch.
theres 0 spots anywhere T3 comes off a corner that is long and bendy = dirty air
Absolutely. There are so many ways you can approach the corner. Go high and carry more speed at the exit. Go low and you cover less metres but go slower.
Late apex to do a switchback to another car, early apex and it could be a slide job. So many racing lines
@@Ofitus21 both of you forget how big the cars are now...theres no room for different lines, and like that will make a difference at lol
"different lines" lmao idiots
wow i love this track already! but it looks small and overtaking will be difficult, still it'll be an interesting one especially the last corner!
As several others have pointed out, sadly the last corner will be useful just for the first 10 laps. When the marbles generate everywhere except the racing lane, you will once again have a single file and then DRS overtakes on the straight
I was thinking the same thing, where will the overtaking corners be?? There is not hairpin corners for the late breakers, I just feel if will be a boring race and who gets pole will probably get the win.
Grant steele now that i thought a bit more about it, i’m not sure if it will be a boring race. yes overtaking will be difficult but i think that there will be a lot of surprises and dramas that’s why it’ll be interesting haha!
@@FinnAL23 I just cant see it mate to be honest, they had a opportunity to create and entertaining race track but I cannot see it, turn one looks to tight.

This is the kind of circuit f1 needs, not those boring circuit designed to make overtakes, this circuit will make you overtake in the most unexpected places and bring the people at the edge of there seats
Really nice Verstappen congrats from Brazil!
This course feels like a rollercoaster! Smooth lap Max :o)
This circuit is utterly insane! Speed seems very, VERY high and banked corners all around. Can't wait to see a race in it!
I agree, this new layout with all the banking looks great and exciting. But as a dutchman i can't help but be extremely angry about them flattening and totally ruining the only corner that WAS banked. The Tarzanbocht (turn 1) Was our most legendary corner and now they totally destroyed it.
how refreshing is that sound ! how we miss it
And here we are.. 🍾

This track is better than herman tilke track, it's so good like every turn make the car flow so smoothly
