Adam, thanks a ton for this list. Partner and I have gotten pretty bored of the few games we own, but this list is an honest godsend. Really appreciated man.
This video is simply incredible! The writing, music, sound effects, script and jokes, pacing are all overwhelmingly effective! This is my first video from this channel, but I will be sure to watch many more. Wonderful work! Also, that ugly bug ball reference was great.
I’ve been a follower of other Board Game channels for a long time, and it’s really great to hear some new voices and opinions in the hobby. Thanks for branching out to this, Plumpy et al. 😁
Excellent list! Many of my favorites on it. My favorite 2 player game-and actually my favorite game-is Battle Line. It's similar to Lost Cities (same designer), but it has incredible strategy, and despite its abstract gameplay, actually gives you the feeling of mustering troops to the frontline of a battle.
Seriously, this is such a delight. For years I've been waiting to hear some good ol' Adam videos again, that aren't about wrestling. Somehow this channel completely went under my radar. Saved my fucking week!
First boardgame video explanation that made me laugh out loud. I usually want to rush through all the rules as they are pretty boring (until you start to play the game and appreciate the intricacies) .... this is the first time I'm entertained! Great job. please keep it coming!
That was so creative & scintillatingly enjoyable....so often looking on RUclips for needed info you feel you have to sit interminably through boring intros & unnecessary padding but you made me want to buy 10 games in 12 minutes. Well done! You’re very talented! Combining comedy with clear information
We bought Hive and Lost Cities on your recommendation, and they are some of the best games I’ve ever played!! You’ve earned a subscriber of us!! Thank you.
Didn't make the list, and technically not an only 2-player game, but Mansions of Madness is a great 2-player co-op experience. I think a video on ' top 10 not technically 2-player games, but has a great 2-player experience' could be something.
I have several of the Unmatched sets, and it's just a great game. The ability to mix and match from different sets is a great feature for increased variety.
was literally talking about needing 2 player board games yesterday and then I see this! Perfect timing, will deffo be purchasing 1 or 2 of these when we decide which ones!
Just found this channel and loving it. My go to 2 Player game is Dice Throne. Easy to learn and easy to teach. Just got my copy of Dice Throne Adventures/Dice Throne Season 1 ReRolled and it's so much fun, and some of the best artwork in Board gaming today.
Other 2P games I would recommend: The Fox in the Forest (arguably my favorite game), Schotten Totten, Matcha (not a good game, but a game I'm still fond of), Hanamikoji, Royal Visit, Hive, Mandala, Quarto, Jekyll vs. Hyde Play well at 2: Piepmatz, Village Green, Azul
What an amazing choice of games. I‘ve played a lot of two player games (including all shown in this video), and my recommendations would be almost exactly the same. Kudos! You got a new follower.
I'll be looking into some of these, thanks for the recommendations! My favorite two player game is Cribbage. It's a board game, but technically it can be played with just a deck of cards
Love your list! I’ve tried this game called Lagim - a collectible card game based on the Philippines’s folklore and mythology. The art work of this game set is also impressive.
I just recently played Star Wars: Rebellion for the first time. It has rules so 4 people can play but it is just basically splitting up duties of who does what. I think that is going to be a great two player game. Can't wait to play it again. It is definitely a much larger game and longer game but it is really good.
Level 99 have published a few really good games in this category: Resistor_ - a game about two duelling AIs trying to disable the other one so they can nuke them. It has a really cool set of double-sided cards Sellswords - a surprisingly thinky game where the players try to control rows and columns in a 5x5 grid they are building, and each tile they lay has special powers that can really mix things up BattleCon - a head to head fighting game that uses perfect information. Every fighter works differently despite the all essentially having the same core set of moves. It achieves this by having each fighter style a move differently, so one could do heavy punches, another one does rapid ones. Noir - a game about trying to find a killer before they kill too many people.
Looking for Battlecon on this list. One of my favorite games. Just elegant as hell -- scratches the same "Ameritrash -- but with a brain" itch that Gloomhaven does
Imagine being me. A lifelong wrestling mark who also is just now getting into tabletop games. You used to watch WhatCulture, and therefore watched the Blamps, here, fairly regularly. And as the years went on, stuff happened, you’re still aware of ol’ Plumpy kicking around on Parts Funknown… And then you randomly search this video… And he’s here, too. Like… What’re the actual odds??? Lol.
Absolutely top list, brilliant games all. However, not having Memoir 44 on the list is a crime! I know it’s bigger and more complicated than the others but it’s sooooooo good!
I love the game Parks. It’s meant for up to 6 players but it is very fun with just two people. Gorgeous artwork depicting the National Parks of the United States, very simple, and very relaxing
War Chest is one of my favorite l "Like chess but not chess" games. Like chess but asymmetric and always a different game because there are 16 different units but never more then 8 are used in a game. If you haven't played it I highly recommend it.
Well.. I was really interested on the content of the video, but could watch only till 3 min and something. If it is not asking too much, would you guys please go easy on the religious content? Really love the channel and Adam, the monopoly one was a masterpiece. Anyways, Im only writing this because I enjoy watching your videos.
Adam when you do make your video and deck building games please mention the DC deck-building game it's one of the best deck building games I've ever played and I think it deserves at least a special shout out if not on the top 10 list and actually has a lot of creativity and tons of game modes that make you not only challenge your thoughts and your conception of a game but challenge your friends as well as a nice pool Whodunnit mode based on Watchmen
What an excellent list! If you're a fan of Lost Cities/Jaipur, really recommend Biblios (2-4, but excellent at 2). Fits right in the same bracket of light, easy, small footprint and completely addictive. :)
Please try exceed fighting system it's probably my favorite game period and undoubtedly my favorite 2 player game. the teach is a pain and it needs multiple plays to get it down but it is the perfect *chefs kiss* encapsulation of the feeling of playing a 2D fighting game.
This is kind of an unfair entry since it's almost impossible to get now, but Caper (or It's Mine) is a great 2-player game. I think Keymaster Games is doing a Kickstarter to reboot the game into Caper: Europe, so people who missed out will have a shot at an updated version of the game. Seriously, it's great.
Great list. I think “raptor” would have deserved a spot as well. It’s a brilliant, tense and lovely themed game that has some of the most fun decision making of any game. Maybe it’s too close to “unmatched”…
Great Top 10. I would like to strongly recommend you BattleCON for 2 players: a tactical fighting game, easy to learn and hard to master, 30 minute games, with tons of content in each set and a lot of replayability. I really don't understand why it is not that famous. Adios calavera could also be a good addition: a really easy race game wih no randomness. Beyond that, thanks NRB for the video and for introducing more people to this fantastic world of boardgames
Nice video! However could you please help as I currently cannot decide between patchwork, 7 wonders duel and santorini (will go for the more complex/heavy on strategy)
Shout out to, for my money, the best two player deckbuilder game I've played, Baseball Highlights: 2045. Baseball in the future gets much better, being only 6 innings and involves Robots and Cyborgs.
It is not a game for people new to the hobby and it can be a long game but I love Twilight Struggle. One of you plays the US and the other one plays the USSR and you play out the entire cold war trying to have more global influence than your opponents, getting ahead on the space race and making sure you don't trigger nuclear war. I'm not particularly interested in the Cold War and I still love this game.
You sir, yes you Sir, I see your list and I raise you 'Odins Ravens'. You can thank me later....... (Thanks for the list by the way, myself and my girlfriend are looking forward to playing some of these 👍)
Fun fact: before the pandemic, while it was still an alpha with no special powers, I made a name for myself for being undefeated at Santorini. My undefeated streak was sadly broken once I started playing threesomes.
The best game tutorial I’ve come across on the internet!!! Awesome sense of humor! 😂 Appreciated!👏🏼🤩
Adam, thanks a ton for this list. Partner and I have gotten pretty bored of the few games we own, but this list is an honest godsend. Really appreciated man.

Also, that ugly bug ball reference was great.
It’s official: you are my favourite board game reviewer on RUclips.
If you like this channel, highly recommend Shut Up & Sit Down. They have a very similar comedy style and provide some really cool reviews!
I’ve been a follower of other Board Game channels for a long time, and it’s really great to hear some new voices and opinions in the hobby. Thanks for branching out to this, Plumpy et al. 😁

@Seaworth or maybe it’s because I follow Adam on Twitter and he promoted this video? 🥴 take your tin foil hat
@Seaworth ?? How is it awkward commenting on a RUclips video about a RUclips video? Get a hobby
Just found this channel and loving it. My go to 2 Player game is Dice Throne. Easy to learn and easy to teach. Just got my copy of Dice Throne Adventures/Dice Throne Season 1 ReRolled and it's so much fun, and some of the best artwork in Board gaming today.
Humorous, informative, entertaining and concise. What a well produced summary of the 'best of' two player games. You made that look easy...
great video. It's hard to find reviewers that match one's taste, you did that for me
Other 2P games I would recommend: The Fox in the Forest (arguably my favorite game), Schotten Totten, Matcha (not a good game, but a game I'm still fond of), Hanamikoji, Royal Visit, Hive, Mandala, Quarto, Jekyll vs. Hyde
Play well at 2: Piepmatz, Village Green, Azul
I bought Patchwork for my parents on a whim. They are far from big board game people but they enjoyed it a lot.
Oh yeah! Unmatched is so fun! I've played it and some point would like to pick up a copy for myself and my circle of friends!
One of the best 2 player lists I've come across
What an amazing choice of games. I‘ve played a lot of two player games (including all shown in this video), and my recommendations would be almost exactly the same. Kudos! You got a new follower.
My eyes have been opened to new games I am excited to try... Thank you!
I'll be looking into some of these, thanks for the recommendations! My favorite two player game is Cribbage. It's a board game, but technically it can be played with just a deck of cards

Fan of wrestling and boardgaming!! You just went up in my estimation by a power of 3 16
I just recently played Star Wars: Rebellion for the first time. It has rules so 4 people can play but it is just basically splitting up duties of who does what. I think that is going to be a great two player game. Can't wait to play it again. It is definitely a much larger game and longer game but it is really good.
8:49 those Greek town pics brought out my inner Sonic fan, thumbs up if you know why.
Best 2player game is Dice Masters. Bit like unmatched and a CCG had a dice baby! Awesome
Really excited about Fugitive. Thanks for the recommendation!

+ pixel tactics.

Hi. We just bought Unmatched. It is stupidly, ridiculously good. You were absolutely right.
YEEEEEES SAME HERE
I recently discovered this channel and now my boyfriend is falling in love with you.
I'm going to have to play Steampunk rally to win him back.
I'd throw in Targi as well. A little more complicated strategy wise, but really interesting worker placement mechanics
One excellent two player game is inhuman condition, a good roleplaying and hidden role game.
Watergate and Fog of Love are two of my go-to 2 player games.
Great list. Seeing you use the corgi picture on a game I really like made my day. Thanks and keep up the great work here.
11:22 Wow didn't expect to see a HeroScape figure in a RUclips video from 2020! Brings me back...
🤣🤣🤣 Hilarious and efficiently informative. Quickly convinced me to add a few more games to my want list.
Fugitive looks right up my street... But I can't find it in stock anywhere! Damn you and your excellently enticing videos!
Fab and funny - thanks for this list. I would add Undaunted (either Normandy or North Africa) as brilliant 2 player games
I absolutely love Star Realms. Also has a decent online version whicch has a puzzle/challenge mode that is fun if you are alone.
War Chest is one of my favorite l
"Like chess but not chess" games. Like chess but asymmetric and always a different game because there are 16 different units but never more then 8 are used in a game. If you haven't played it I highly recommend it.

The fugitive link is broken FYI
Also any chance of US links with your channel info attached to help support?

Great video, very well edited and funny and I want them ALL!
Man! Great content! I just discover your channel and loved it!
Definetely Watergate and Twiligh Struggle are my favs. Need to try Unmatched, haven't heard of it before...!
Where is the movie fragment at 9.47 from? Thanks in advance!
Great list, fantastic mix - cracking video 👍
Patchwork has passed many an evening since buying it. Surprisingly deep strategy once you play a lot
What an excellent list! If you're a fan of Lost Cities/Jaipur, really recommend Biblios (2-4, but excellent at 2). Fits right in the same bracket of light, easy, small footprint and completely addictive. :)

Yu-Gi-Oh is also pretty nice
Is yugioh a board game?
Woo!!
I summon blue eyes white dragon
@matt fahringer I wasn’t asking you Matt.
Get back in your closet!
Two can play at that game!
awesome list!
Thanks for great video 👍🏽

What is this Game?
Hello, what scott joplin piece is played around the end ?
Fugitive looks like fun.
Great Top 10.
I would like to strongly recommend you BattleCON for 2 players: a tactical fighting game, easy to learn and hard to master, 30 minute games, with tons of content in each set and a lot of replayability. I really don't understand why it is not that famous.

Schotten totten and fox in the forest are also really good, quick 2 player card games
Nice video! However could you please help as I currently cannot decide between patchwork, 7 wonders duel and santorini (will go for the more complex/heavy on strategy)
Ok but sorry is still one the best best board games ever. Fight me.
just bought patchwork bc of your guys channel :)
Incredible video
Thanks
Rivals for catan and its expansion got us through the first round of lockdown
I bought Fugitive, eager to receive it and test it with my grilfriend. Looks fun
Super fantasy brawl by mythic games is definitely my 2 player game to go to at the moment.
Great video…I have all of these
How about Botanik? Kinda like Lost Cities, but more abstract and put in a steampunk + floral theme
Jaipur 💯💯💯
Radlands is a newer one that definitely would make it on this list if it was made today. It's the lane-based card game I was looking for
I brought Star Realms to my friend's Bris but it got "cut short"
Amazing stuff Adam
Shout out to, for my money, the best two player deckbuilder game I've played, Baseball Highlights: 2045.
Baseball in the future gets much better, being only 6 innings and involves Robots and Cyborgs.
We share the same two favorites, so tense In fact my tastes are so similar to yours guys. Me and my friends, we game to have fun :D
What a great list!
Santorini looks cool.
Will there be any mention of the g.o.a.t Magic the Gathering?
Great list
love this page
Oshi is a great modern game in the style of chess.
My wife and I personally have been enjoying Wingspan and Schotten Totten as our go to games to play when just us.
Would you guys ever do.. let's say "Let's Plays" of games? Would like to see Adam lose, thank you.
Good list and a funny guy
Do you have any 2 player co-op games?
Monty python mentioned in a boardgames review? Subscribed
How about Tides of Time /Tides Of Madness, very good and fast 2 player games,
also on my list: Raptor, Quarto and Ninja Versus Ninja
Naga Raja is amazing!!!!
It is not a game for people new to the hobby and it can be a long game but I love Twilight Struggle. One of you plays the US and the other one plays the USSR and you play out the entire cold war trying to have more global influence than your opponents, getting ahead on the space race and making sure you don't trigger nuclear war. Unmatched is my number 3, with Radlands being number 2 and Summoner Wars being number 1.
You sir, yes you Sir, I see your list and I raise you 'Odins Ravens'. You can thank me later.......
(Thanks for the list by the way, myself and my girlfriend are looking forward to playing some of these 👍)
I wanna play these now
Fun fact: before the pandemic, while it was still an alpha with no special powers, I made a name for myself for being undefeated at Santorini. My undefeated streak was sadly broken once I started playing threesomes.
Adam, I like the new videos. Any chance on seeing new wrestling videos??? That would be great! Good to see you back on the horse.
