Caterpillars are INVADING!! How to cicadas affect caterpillars?

In today's video, we look at the effects of cicada emergence on caterpillar numbers, and what impact this has on the wider community.
Changing one thing in an ecosystem can have a huge impact on wildlife, but we do not usually see this impact. However; when cicadas emerge every 13 to 17 years, we know the devastation the introduction of a new species can have on the ecosystem.
In this story from the New scientist, scientists are researching the impact this has on caterpillar numbers. But, we could also consider in the comments, the impact this could have on bird numbers and breeding success.
