    Why on earth would a sauna have a timer that locks someone inside?!

    • @Kvargkvarg
      @Kvargkvarg 4 месяца назад +31

      Because some people are too soft to have a good sauna session on their own, they try to leave before being fully relaxed, and the lock prevents them from doing so.

    • @sarahr9894
      @sarahr9894 4 месяца назад +127

      @@Kvargkvargthat doesn't make any sense. What if someone starts having a heart attack and needs to leave? What if they slip and burn themselves on the rocks, or hit their head? Or any other number of situations where you'd have to leave early. It seems like such a design flaw 😩

      @@sarahr9894 it's totally baffling. Makes zero sense to have a locking sauna door. Only thing I can guess is it automatically locks itself due to opening and closing hours but even so, there would need to be an override if someone was still in there at closing time. None of it makes logical sense.

    That garbage chute looks exactly like the one in my building. I’m always bothered by intrusive thoughts when I take my trash out. Stuff like, “careful you don’t fall in”. But up to this point I kind of figured you’d just fall for 4 stories and then land in the dumpster!
    I never once considered the possibility of
    Getting STUCK

    • @Irish_Georgia_Girl
      @Irish_Georgia_Girl 4 месяца назад +23

      The designers of such chutes need to have some kind of fail safes to prevent things like someone getting stuck! For instance, one thing should be that the MINIMUM width of the chutes should be too wide for even a large individual to get stuck. Or have like an alarm inside that a person could pull that's as loud as a fire alarm and goes to the fire station, with an indicator that it's n emergency in the garbage chute instead of a fire. And maybe have trap doors at intervals in the sides of the chute that people trapped could pull a lever and they'd open and allow the person to crawl out or something... like what they have in enclosed water slides. Idk. I kind of wish I'd become a civil engineer or something so that I could specialize in designing safety mechanisms and fail safes for places like garbage chutes and elevators and anything people & animals could get trapped in. I love helping people but got a degree in Accounting... lol. I'd rather make a living helping people though.

    • @wintermoon7003
      @wintermoon7003 4 месяца назад +10

      @@Irish_Georgia_Girl Do you know how wide that would be then? Taking into account all the 600 pound people. No, that's not a solution because then for normal sized people who haven't eaten themselves into oblivion, there's even MORE of a risk of them falling in because now, it's even bigger than their doorway! Making them smaller would be better. That way, only a small kid could get in, but have it high off the floor so that the kids wouldn't be able to fall in if for whatever reason they decide to play with the chute.

How can any room, let alone a sauna, lock people in without a latch on the inside? And how can the person locked in such a situation take the matter so calmly as to just sit down and wait for death? Heat rises upwards, every sauna I've ever been, and there have been many, has been reasonably cool at the ground level. Lying down on the floor should let you survive in a sauna for hours on end.

    I'm an engineer and work in manufacturing around robots and servo motors and 480V 3 phase power every day. I've been trained on safety procedures, lockout tag out, etc. I've never seen an industrial accident but I've seen a few on RUclips during training. I constantly look out for dangerous situations but believe me, some guys are just plain dumb or don't care about getting injured. You have to press buttons to tell the machine you want to open a door to a section for example. The machine will stop and unlock the safety device locking the door. When you open the door, there's a 'key' attached to the door that pulls out of the lock device. We carry those keys so we can open the door then insert a key and run the machine with the door open if necessary. I watched a tech stop the machine, open the door, insert the key, start the machine, walk into the cell and almost get killed by the pick and place robot. He just walked right into the area! I couldn't believe my eyes. So, no matter how safe you make a machine, it's still up to the people who work on and with those machines to maintain a safe workplace. The machine operators don't have interlock defeat keys, only maintenance personnel.

Every addict is a human being, a son or a daughter, mother or a father, uncle or an aunt etc etc. There is usually a reason they are an addict. It is a disease not something that anyone wants to be!! Love and empathy!! It’s like when a child is missing, cops usually call them a run away unless they think otherwise!! Makes me furious. R.I.P. to everyone on this list. What a horrible way to pass. Dam strait. Being an addict has nothing to do with being a bad person. I fact alot of addicts are extremely intelligent, good hearted people. And literally anyone can become a one. There's a reason even soccer moms were all addicted to pain pills. I know for a Fact, that's addiction isn't about being bad or good. I can't stand how addicts are treated differently. It's a disease. Usually combined with depression or other underlying issues. Sometimes the brain won't stop overworking. It's not fun. Hence alot of highly intelligent people being addicts.
      People act like addicts want to ruin their lives. Or their families lives. It's tragic as hell and a nightmare. Props to everyone that's made it out. And this stigma I hope stops

    All the freezers at my work have an internal handle that is very hard to break as it's a knob that you press inward, but even on the offchance it breaks, there is enough cell reception in the freezers to call an emergency number on the wall to alert someone- assuming coworkers didn't find you first.
    I've nearly been trapped in a walk in freezer at another workplace that didn't have those safety mechanisms and no cell service before when it was late at night and past closing time. After that experience I've always refused to go in unsafe freezers.
    It's impossible to stay warm, even when wearing a heavy freezer jacket. Heat will quickly leech away from any surface that isn't well enough protected, like your head, hands, and even your legs and feet in spite of them being covered by clothing.

    When I lived in Lafayette louisiana, I spent a lot of time in New Iberia for weekly bowling tournaments. I remember driving by the arby's, and seeing all of the cop cars and tape and lights, which looked a lot like the scene of the Grand theater shooting in Lafayette back in 2015, so I obviously knew that something really bad had happened.
    When I found out about the faulty freezer door and the death of Lee, I was actually at the bowling alley in new iberia, I was so fucking livid, and I remember screaming, disrupting a bunch of the bowlers.
    And of course, there won't be any actual jail time for this shit. For business owners, a fine for murdering employees is just the cost of doing business.

    As someone who is dyslexic who was in specialized education for people with learning disabilities and who was abused (physically, thankfully) at school, I feel really bad for that guy who got caught between the fences. Abuse at centres for people with learning and behavioural disabilities is incredibly common - and it was even worse prior to the 2010s when attitudes about neurodivergent kids was more hostile...I think I read a stat somewhere that kids with LDs are something like 9 times more likely to be physically abused and 14 times more likely to be s*xually abused than other kids, though that was a stat from the late 90s that may not be true anymore.

    My friend died when I was in kindergarten when we had a spaghetti dinner at the school with our parents… while they were talking we all went to the gym and were running back and forth…. There were gym doors on a track and someone.. (assuming the gym teacher)…. Put a block of wood outside the door to hold the button that closes it up… so he didn’t have to hold the button ….. she tripped and because no one was near the button at the time… we had no idea it was gonna close…. She had her neck crushed by that door and they closed the entire school down because of it….. for years…. They reopened like 10 years later… the park right next to my house was renamed in her honor……. It was such a disturbing accident
