    SNCO Admin here. As this young lady stated, we have a pretty amazing job. Once you earn the trust of your Commander or the Chief you work for it can open up so many doors for you in the AF. No matter which level you get sent to (I started at the Group level as an A1C) just kill it and never treat your customers like crap or get a big head just bc you work for the Commander. Try to do a couple of years in downtown D.C. or the Pentagon bc that is where our jobs full potential can be realized. There are so many cool 3 letter agencies and Defense Attaches that you can work for and so many lives you will touch as an admin. We can go to any base in the AF, work for any careerfield besides medical (they have their own admins), and any joint command under the DoD.

      @@ImperfectlyAshe Nice to hear. Easiest way to get out there is applying on AMS or doing a short tour and just putting D.C. open area and Pentagon on your dream sheet. Once you get out there its easy to network and move around the different agencies. Some spots even let you wear civilian business attire at work. Goodluck!

    Admin vs personnel? Im thinking of cross training from OSS. Im looking for a job to transfer to that will translate best on the civilian side. I know personnel transfers to Human Resources does admin aswell? Or if not what does it transfer to? Thank you 😊 love you video

    • @ImperfectlyAshe
      @ImperfectlyAshe  4 года назад +3

      Jazmyn Warren both transfer well to civilian specifically government contracting and government civilian. I recommend cross training to personnel because military/government agencies are more familiar with what personnelist do. I can’t tell you how many people assume I’m a personnelist because of the knowledge and systems I know but all admin don’t get the chance to learn all systems. Now that I have my 7 level I’m actually considering getting the personnel AFSC it’s just more opportunities. If you do government contracting both AFSCs will transfer over well but I recommend personnel. Hope this helps. Thank you I am working on my consistency as I say in every video🤦🏽‍♀️ but stick around I have more coming. DTS tutorials, MiLPDS etc

What is your opinion on that? I REALLY love Admin and personnel jobs. Would Personnel Officers work in conjunction with your job as admin? My husband is Active duty E 7 in the Army and his MOS is pretty much anywhere since he works with computers so I am happy that you said admin jobs are every where because I want to make sure our probabilities of getting based together are WAY higher by me choosing a job that's not restrictive with choices of bases. Question: How would this translate to the civilian world? I am stuck between choosing jobs and I am wanting a career field that can translate to the civilian sector.

      Honestly you would be a well rounded secretary with a security clearance and knowledge of government systems

      @@ImperfectlyAshe May you please say that in like simpler terms? I apologize, a million of things are running in my head. I got denied going to OTS and I have a B.S. in Criminal Justice and my recruiter is mostly pushing me into Security Forces.

    Do you get to choose where do you get your assignment like which area as an admin after BMT if you are active duty or they choose or for you?

    • @ImperfectlyAshe
      @ImperfectlyAshe  4 года назад +1

      Misha 801 no you will get to submit a list (dream sheet) of bases you want but ultimately it’s where the Air Force needs you.

    I’m 17 and in the DEP. I’m worried about being an AA woman in the military and keeping my hair in regulation (especially in boot camp!) I have very long natural locs now, too much for a bun. Any advice?

    • @ImperfectlyAshe
      @ImperfectlyAshe  4 года назад

      So I’ll try my best to answer this but I have never had locs and no one in my BMT flight had them but you have to find a way to either bun or pin them neatly above your collar. Please look up AFI 36-2903 they have updated it to show pictures of AA women with natural hair so you have an idea of how it should look. If your hair is too much for a bun you are going to struggle every morning or night to securely pin it or whatever you’ll have to do and BMT is not the place because it will make you a target. But it’s not impossible I’ve seen women with long locs who get them braided and pinned down

    • @ImperfectlyAshe
      @ImperfectlyAshe  5 лет назад +1

      yes the AFSC is 3F5X1...as you progress the X turns different skill levels...3 level, 5 level, 7 level. When I made this video I was a 3F551 5 skill level and now I am 3F571 7 skill level. I hope that helps

      Imperfectly Ashe thank you last two questions and I promise I will leave you alone I just can’t find anything on this job ... is this job really marketable as a civilian I am really into computers I wanted a cyber job it looks like that’s not going to happen with the job list received but I’m aiming to join some part of the government after getting out and I heard you mentioned you had to be good with software would this job be marketable for let’s say FBI ? And last question do you receive a top secret clearance for this job or just secret

    • @ImperfectlyAshe
      @ImperfectlyAshe  5 лет назад +1

      @@candisnicole1417 So your clearance level is based on the organization you support so if you support a Cybe or Intel unit yes you will get a top secret but the AFSC itself only requires a secret. Far as civilian to be 100% honest in the civilian world they will look at you as secretary unless you stay within the govt or govt contracting.
