Beyond all the boy bands, covers, talent show winners and Bob the Builder, perhaps the most interesting part of this is seeing songs from American acts that got to number 1 here but not there like Rollin', The Real Slim Shady and Welcome to the Black Parade
x Oasis, Limpbizkit, Pink, Eminem, Tupac, Justin Timberlake, and Kylie Minoque are all on my list of Favorite Musical Artists. x Westlife is virtually unknown in the U.S...but they sound so great! (I'm going to check out more of their music) x There are a lot of bands (All Saints, S Club 7, McFly, Blue, Girls Outloud, Sugababes) I am going to check out or check out more after this video, lots of great hits!
Yeah, not particularly good ones either lol, i also had no memory of Westlife or McFly having anything like that many number 1 songs! Thanks for watching
@@Media_RankerIt certainly wasn’t positive. Precisely the weak proposals of the boy bands originated the decline in the popularity of english pop aboard. Very few of them were successful in the american and continental european charts.
And I still cannot believe Bob the Builder's Mambo No 5 was number one on *that* day. Bob may be able to fix anything but even he couldn't fix the Twin Towers ...
I remembered that Bob The Builder had gone to number 1 but completely forgot he had TWO number ones lol not even sure they were charity singles either which is crazy! Cheers
Honestly only watched this for the Rage Against The Machine, but it was an…interesting…ride to get there, to put it mildly. Here I am lamenting how I’ve heard enough McFly clips to last a lifetime, then a famous American annoyance like “Dilemma” comes on & I’m thinking “Couldn’t they just put another WestLand song or something at #1 this week & call it a day?” But that RATM campaign completely redeemed them. Thanks for putting it all together!
Yeah this was a bizarre decade for UK pop charts it seems, at least at the very top of it anyway. That campaign definitely gave us some hope, when i do the 2010s we will see if it made much difference though! Thanks for watching all the way through too lol.
I've been following Global Music Lists for about more than 30 years and I've noticed this: If you would like to be number one on the UK list, you have to be an English singer or band! Some songs without UK placed no.1 but maximum 1-2 weeks. And these songs placed number 1 for weeks and months in the lists of other countries!
2000, 2008 and 2009, are the years i like the most. The other years are mostly crap. Its nit that the decade had only bad music but mostly crap made it to number 1.
Iconic: 117 Rubbish: 158 2003 is the year I was born. Beyoncé & Jay-Z’s Crazy in Love is number 1 in July when I was born, which is one of my favourite songs. Although I was born a 00s kid, this kind of music I grew up, I barely know them until I take music very seriously at 8 in 2011, it was not that kind of music I’m into, there’s a couple of great songs which I made numbers above that I really love, the rest was just absolute rubbish (most notably god awful covers of classics, dreary male ballads of their never ending everlasting love, R&B/Hip-hop shite and bloody childish kiddie songs from kid shows). Although, that might sounds like an unpopular opinion, I might be born in the wrong decade, I rather born in the late 60s/70s, where the music from the 60s, 70s, 80s & 90s are the greatest, most influential music of everybody’s lives. So yeah, the music from the 2000s to right now were much hits we love and much misses we hate. So who knows, who agrees with me?
It's funny to me to see so many "McFly" #1s, it makes them seem like a massive group, when in reality they weren't. The songs probably didn't last more than 2 weeks in the top 10.
I can only assume their fans all bought (or begged their parents to buy) these singles when they first came and thats why they got to number 1 for a week or two, because i grew up in England at this time and i have no memory of almost all of them lol. Cheers
2000+ was the gradual decline of music still a few gems dotted around but just became interpolations. Covers, reality show winners, novelty songs and god awful rap /r n b dogshit, R. I. P good music
I think overall they have done it four times, i guess they might even do it this year too! Well it should all go to the same charities, well i hope so anyway lol. Cheers
The year 2000 had a lot of number ones, so many songs #1 for a single week! Also I think 2006 is the worst year here, only about 1 song that I'd call even slightly decent. The whole second half of the decade isn't great but the other years have 3 or 4 good songs, 06 has nothing. Best years for me personally were 2001 and 2002, lots of my faves got #1's.
I forgot about the Elvis resurgence! The remix of A Little Less Conversation in '02 made him cool again, and they cashed in by re-releasing all of his previous UK #1 hits, one single each week, for 18 weeks in early '05. It was a massive (and overbearing) success.
@@nathanakers45 Id actually forgotten about the songs being re released for his Birthday but that JXL remix is great. The Rubberneckin remix (i think by Paul Oakenfold?) is pretty good too. Cheers

- 1/2 naked women in shiny outfits dancing in the rain (indoors!!) - generic guys in suits singing generic schmalzy ballads - coverversions (all of them worse) - samples (of better originals) - casting show wannabees - teen pop punk green day rip offs to my surprise, the indie rock bands stand out positively, I didn't particularly like them back in the day
A lot of that is far worse today too! lol. Check out my top rock songs of the 2000s video, might be some better stuff in there than you remember too. Cheers
@@ИванКлюжев-ю5п Yeah it was surprising Coldplay only had one number 1 song the whole decade. Keane & Travis actually never had a UK number one. Cheers
From the great Led zepelin and Pink Floyd and perfect new wave to all this crap in the 2000s. Uk bet you are proud and how many cover songs? Jesus C, this horrible. Cant believe I watched the whole video hoping it would get better
There was definitely better stuff than these songs that went to number 1. People like Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian, Franz Ferdinand, Hard Fi, Amy Winehouse, Paolo Nutini. Even early Lily Allen, Florence and Mumford and sons etc too. But yeah, in the end, you are right lol. Cheers
Here is the same video for the 1980s, every UK chart #1 song - ruclips.net/video/97ZX6hlv4Gk/видео.html

Forgotten how much utter trash got to number one that decade
It gets worse.
Charity song instant number one
Bob the builder was really popular in the UK we only have ourselves to blame😔 and we were kids 🤪
Amazing how many covers went to number 1 in the UK, especially by girl or boy bands.
