I have never watched anything she was in before. And I know she is a legend on stage, but actually being this good on screen as well!!! I became a fan!!!

I felt the same way. Lilia's character arc reminded me so much of my deeply missed grandmother, Mama Ninna. She suffered from dementia, and it was heartbreaking to witness.
Out of all the good things about this show the one thing I'm most grateful for is that it introduced me to Patti Lupone. I'm gonna search for her plays and binge it now. What a woman.
Oh my god, legit your reaction was my reaction during that scene. I was already tearing up when Lilia "geared" up and begin her reading...but the "I loved being a witch" broke me BAD! Legit crying, snotting, all of it lol. Just like you, I told myself I was going to be living in denial because we didn't see a body. In my head my denial is saying "Well they made it a point to show how many swords fell when Agatha and Teen were pulling cards and when Lilia started...maybe there was an empty spot that she landed PERFECTLY between the swords?" SOOOOOOOO until next week when we get both episodes, I'm just chilling in delulu land lol
This is the best episode so far! And this is the best reaction to the best episode. And you’re my fave reactor. Keep it going! And love the shootout to Mike Flanagan! The opening scene when Lilia falls also reminds me a bit of Get Out and Twilight Zone.
This was the best episode, and Lilia is the GOAT. ❤❤❤❤ Billy didn’t remember Lilia because he has no memories before the accident and she didn’t recognize him at first because the sigil works on the were itch who cast it.😊
I've been nearly in tears all day. I've watched the show and so many reactions on this show. I love it and hate it both. This is an Emmy winning episode, if not a series.
Does _no one_ understand what a clairvoyant is??!?!? Why so surprised at the fact that she sees time out of order? That when we see things from her point of view (like this episode) we _see_ what travelling through time out of sync is like? The whole deal for a clairvoyant is about seeing time... Also, kind of hilarious that people aren't picking up on the fact that *_Lilia didn't die_* - her life is a loop, the timer had reset, she ended up back where she started with her first lesson... I could even see her earlier conversation with Rio about not forgetting what she said as a hint that Lilia wouldn't leave a body for Rio to get. Regardless, awesome episode 🙂
This episode was a work of art, masterfully crafted with a powerhouse performance from THE Patti LuPone. I teared up so many times while watching this. Just as the coven is gelling together, they're losing each other. My gosh, what a punch to the gut. I'm also feeling sad we only have two episodes left and I cannot imagine what lies ahead. Agatha All Along has turned out to be one of my absolute favorite TV series.
I think the only way to get someone of Patti's caliber to be interested in work, would be if the project has a worthwhile scene; and this certainly did!
You handled her death better than me 😂 I was inconsolable before she even closed the door behind them. As much as her death hurt, I couldn’t think of a better way to send her off. She found closure and managed to kill off 5 of the salem seven in the most badass way possible.
I loved watching along with you. I choked up watching Lillia. The parallels of a person suffering from Alzheimer’s and dementia. What a beautifully smart written episode. The cohesion of plot and story telling shows how they planned everything out. A far cry from some of these big budgeted series with less thought out writing. Did anyone catch Rio mentioning how she hates ghosts? Makes so much more sense now!!
The needle drop and the lyrics to "Time in a Bottle" was an extra knife twist. Since it ends with her very first lesson, Lillia may be reliving her life in an eternal loop.
Our reactions were almost verbatim. I suspected she'd die when she told Jen about all the pieces falling into place but held out hope in being wrong. When she began the reading for herself I burst into tears. My S.O. asked "You gonna make it?" "I am but she's not. I don't want her to die but I know she has to. She'd say the same thing as Dr Strange: 'There's no other way'." Cried the rest of the episode and 20 minutes after.
I loved this episode so much! I've been watching reactions for the past day or so and my reaction when I first saw it was the closest to yours Colin. I got so upset too. This was the best ode to the Queen of Cups! Love Patti and love this show!
Why the pause after EX?? Exactly 😂 That is a delusional woman. But also your reaction is soooo relatable I love it. And I’m right there with you on the Billy’s Road theory but I don’t think he knows he’s doing it. Agatha knows though. Anyway, this episode was amazing and some of the best timey wimey storytelling I’ve seen in a looooong time. I want to know the writing process too. I’m also hanging onto the “we didn’t see a body” thing and I feel like they’re going to bring everyone back but not in a negating everyone’s journey kind of way, but giving them a new life kind of way. Idk. We’ll see. Loving the show and loving your reactions!
Of course she's still around. Death, especially in Marvel, doesn't really carry much weight. And witches are well known for sticking around, like Agatha's mother. And Agatha herself, she probably had more comic time as a spirit than she did while she was alive.
My thoughts on "How They Wrote This?" Step 1: Throw EVERY IDEA into the pot. Brainstorm what images, themes, and tropes can be used as "markers" or "guide rails" to explore the characters. What characters could be used. What themes to explore yada yada... it's Writing 101 for this bit Step 2: The Tarot Cards The writers room probably researched the cards, their meanings, and different illustrations etc. Assign/choose a card to represent the "essence" of each central character/coven member Choose a spread that will work within the story, actually do what the characters/trial are asking it to do, be simple/compact enough to understand (for the audience), yet complex/large enough to fit enough of our central cards in. Lay out the spread/ Match it to plot points and key moments (this will go back and forth ALL THE TIME) This process gives you a skeleton to hang everything else off, and a great jumping off point for visual imagery, costume ideas etc. The phases of the moon thing probably meshed well with this too. Step 3: Write the damned episodes A rough draft anyway. the usual way, but always referring to the "spread" so the "card moments" can be placed with care. Complete the writing for LILIA'S trial first, then the ending is roughed out. Then plot your way there. Also the way to shoot it. Each Director KNEW which moments were "Card" moments, and they'd needed a common language/stylistic choice so they didn't stand out, but were still unique within each episode. As for the emotions? I cried for damn near 30 minutes kiddo, so consider yourself uber-butch, ok?
I think "spirit be our guide" is referencing how Agatha is the spirit witch (confirmed by the writer) and leading them, the same way Jen is the water witch, Alice was the fire witch, Lilia was the air witch and Billy the green witch. It's, unfortunately, probably not referencing the dead ones coming back to guide them.
They literally showed her to you alive. She told you time is not linear. Her death had already happened and will keep happening. She chose not to relive it, and went back to her beginning. Her life (and everyone's in the MCU, now canonically) exists at all points at the same time.
The whole time she fell I had the irrational hope that "Death will come for us all" will be a twist and she will actually save them (but since they already revealed the "black heart" isn't her and she's not part of the coven, why would she). Then they just had to show us the last scene and take away that hope.
Oh my god...I just birthed a theory, they all die yes. But hat if by the end of this even agatha grew sentimental and wanted t trust the, she looked like she regretted killing alice, and I feel that by the end of the road, her true desire will change from power, to getting her coven back.
So.... like, i don't think Agatha's power is to drain the life from someone; it's to drain their power, right? So, my theory is that Rio couldn't take Alice because she's not dead, her power was just drained. And what better way for her body to replenish it's power than to be on the witches' road!
Did you actually think that she went back and forth between the trial and the underground tunnels, instead of understanding that this episode was shown in a non-linear sequence???.
I mean thats what technically happened. Her mind went back in forth between the trial, underground and to her first lesson. From the first point of Lilias first appearence in this episode we follower her and her only. Both is true.
@@someonelukasome Yeah but you made it sound like you actually thought that she PHYSICALLY jumped around between the trial and the underground tunnels each time.
@@dwicahya i don’t know if you are referring to the creator in the video or me, but no i never thought she changed physically. I said her mind went back and forth. Her mind. She moved mentally.
@@someonelukasome No, I was talking about the creator of this video. He implicitly said that he thought it was fascinating how Lilia was physically jumping from one place to another. Her mind was, not her body.
I was just reflecting on how Alice’s death was for Lilia. Lilia had foreseen the death of her original coven but she couldn’t save them. Now she foresees Alice’s fate but when she tries to warn her she slips into time jumps. She must have felt so h Ed pleas, useless. 😭🥹
This one destroyed me, in a good way, but destroyed nonetheless.
