"Our Food: Our Stories" Interview with The Jones Family of the Pacific Street and West Side Community Gardens
"Our Food: Our Stories" is an oral history series that seeks to preserve experiences of Ozarks farmers and our Ozarks agricultural heritage. Interviews have been collected from a diverse group of farmers across the region with particular emphasis on the stories of indigenous people, as well as immigrants, veterans, those who are underserved, the socially disadvantaged, individuals of color, as well as beginning farmers. This project is a collaboration between Springfield Community Gardens, Missouri State University Libraries and the MSU Ozarks Poverty Working Group. Springfield Community Gardens is sponsoring this program in partnership with the Missouri Humanities and with support from the Missouri Humanities Trust Fund.
This interview includes the recording of Sharon, Mia, and Xavier Jones of the Pacific Street and West Side Springfield Community Gardens on June 19, 2023 at the Midtown Community Garden in Springfield, MO with MSU Professor of Anthropology, Dr. Marnie K.
