We will clean up the floor of the silo a bit in the next video. There is no reason to pour a smooth concrete floor because we will always leave a couple inches of feed packed at the bottom of the silo. The unloader cannot be run against a concrete floor or it would be damaged. Thanks for watching!

I was about to answer that question myself about the bottom of floor in silo. My new neighbor first time having silo’s always used bunker’s .I been letting him watch your videos . He said your set up is awesome . His farm is half what your farm is . Raising cattle and pigs to sell and milk company comes for the milk. He has a crew of 6 hard workers .
Your videos help out for my neighbor and he says to keep up the good work and thank you for the good advice on auger company.

The Yellow Jackey unloader looks SUPER! I'm impressed with the center spinner that spreads the silage out during silo fill. That was my job as my father and brother forked the alfalfa into the ensilage cutter outside. Thank you for explaining a lot about the Yellow Jacket. You all are doing a GREAT job. 🙏 🙂

Awesome to see everything coming together Eric! Please know how much we Fans dig being able to actually see the progress in action. The time and effort spent in filming AND explaining reasons why things are being done a certain way absolutely makes everything come together for a knucklehead like me! 🤣 Great that the weather for the most part has been in a good place! You really get an appreciation for those Silo Builders and the trust they have in their equipment and with each other! No doubt it can get a bit frustrating in wanting everything to go fast, but your families work ethic is perfect in slow and methodical equals solid workmanship! As always Eric, your Fans are loyal so don't sweat the videos! Be Safe MOO From COW-lumbus, Ohio👋

Ring drive unloaders, best ever. I had 2 20' Badger ring drives in the 80's for my 60' silos, so much better than ground driven!!

  • @rk3739

Hey Eric, some things to consider…have you ever seen a clean chute before. A clean chute is a hopper that sits in a feed door. The feed gets blown into the hopper and attached to the hopper is a plastic tube that runs the length of the silo to the bottom and into your conveyor. These are really nice to help keep the chute that you climb from getting dusty…
Second thing, my farming friend had a looping kit in one of his silos. These looping kits like to get caught. While he was raising his silo unloader one day, his looping kit got caught on his silo and he went to climb on the silo unloader to free it up…and the silo unloader collapsed and he fell to his death. Please under no circumstances climb on the silo unloader.
We recently put up a new top unloader silo on our farm in Ontario Canada. We have a return chord as well. But our return chord runs up the silo chute and at the top of the wall at the very top we have a stationary wheel that runs the chord over the wall to meet up with the silo unloader. This seems to work really nice for us.

You just leave old feed in the very bottom and stop using the silo when you get close to the bottom. The unloaders only take an inch at a time so you can run them almost all the way to the bottom without issue.

Same features same center rotating leveling pan only difference I see is independent drive and the color. Looks like a good machine I just preferred a two auger system vs. 1 auger. I sold Hanson which I believe val metal bought out. I love the camera idea, also is that a rissler wood conveyor? great conveyors! I sold a ton of those things back 20 years ago!! Hello Eric from central upstate New York ...I'm intrigued by this whole silo process...I grew up on a 60 cow dairy farm with a couple small silos (4th generation)...robot feeder or not that is an aweful long climb to repair unloader/change doors in a dirty chute!! that was such a pain with our 50' silos that we went to bags.... but they have their downfalls too... plastic mess and real estate usage...anyway my two main questions are 1. can any blower made actually blow haylage 140+' ( because center filling is at least 10' higher on a silo that big)...and 2. With the shear weight of that concrete alone how can they keep pouring rings without the bottom pours failing without letting them cure at least a few days in between?
