Those buildings are far beyond our capabilities even today. I’m in construction for 21 years. No way the timeline start to finish at these worlds fairs are possible

Thing is, when a modern building contractor tells you it's not possible, maybe they know what they are talking about.
The Chicago World Fair took about 3 years to build, are you kidding me?
It would take 20 years today with modern machinery, and over 50 000 men, c'mon man.

If it took 3 years in 1893, there's no way it needs 20 years today. It's just stupid to say that.

Fascinating lecture! A level of spectacle, showcasing and (however calculated) celebration of industrial and artistic progress, the likes of which we will probably never see again. I'd love for a modern project of this scale to emerge today - an exhibition, the format of which would be placed somewhere between Coachella, Disneyland and The Louvre.

There was expo 67 in Montreal, looked like a futuristic city with monorails and great architecture. Also mostly torn down after a few years because the temporary buildings were hard to maintain. There are still more planned to this day.

It was already there and they destroyed The magnificent buildings, fountains, waterways.
Look again. They had invented spraypainting. There were even waterclosets.

Ask yourself why no one alive today can build like this anymore, much less erect hundreds of these massive structures in a year or two. Also, I wonder why we don't have these fairs anymore?
These fairs were the ceremonial destruction of the old world.

    - This could have been so much better if the actual World's Fairs were the centre of attention & not the speaker in other words if the video had just focused on the pictures in the foreground & the speaker's voice in the background you would have kept the viewer's attention to want to continue to watch what you are trying to show the youtube audience but the beginning makes it seem like you're more interested in the speaker being the centre of attention which just causes people to stop watching thinking this would have been better as an audio session instead of a video one!
