Let's grow old together, and die at the same time. Such a powerful line. Not only because it is the ultimate thing to say to a significant other. It also signifies the fear of losing someone. You want to spend your life with someone, but only if you die at the same time. So you dont experience the loss of that person.
i totally agree...one of the many reasons i love this band so much...if you would like to we could chat about music someday...i wish you all the good and all the blessings...maybe till next time...
You're right. How is it possible that only by listening man can recognize if it's a British or an American rock band? I can hear the differences, but I can't name it. Someone to help me? 😊
"Let's grow old together and die at the same time" one of the most romantic phrases IMO. If someone says that to you, wow that's another level altogether. It's more like a deep soul connection and not the superficial crap we are being fed most of the time. Still sounds great in 2018!
When I was dating my ex a lot of bad shit happened. Stuff that created the foundation for my PTSD diagnosis. This was a song she introduced to me and I listened to it a lot when my heart was hurting from her abuse. I couldn't listen to it after we broke up, simply because I knew it would trigger flashbacks which were quite regularly after we broke up. It wasn't until I looked her up about 2 and a half years later that I realized she's just a loser now who latches onto someone new when she gets bored, which made me feel shit in a way but I felt empowered by the fact that I was free from her now. It's like a weight fell off me and I could breathe without her in the shadows of my thoughts. I decided to listen to this song to see how far I'd gotten, like a test. I felt many things, as you can imagine. That lyric "to lose my life or lose my love", it felt like it was talking about the fact that during the relationship I had to choose between living my life or losing her cos I kept getting ultimatums, that realization hit hard. But I eventually fell in love with it, a song I listen to regularly as a reminder of my strength and growth. It's now my favourite song of all time.
@@peterkoppanyi133 That's the thing, I'm the one with BPD. She was there when I got diagnosed, she knew the symptoms and thus my weaknesses what strings to pull. She's just a twisted, cruel person. I get that she had bad experiences in previous relationships but that's no excuse to treat others the same way in return. I fought and fought to make things right, but she just negelected my mental health in favour for torturing me.

Dark, epic and intense. The ambiguity in the lyrical meaning, does he mean abandonment of god or a male partner, gives depth and intelligence to a music scene that badly needs some. I love the image of a soul soaring above the trees it makes me yearn for the otherworld. Thank god for this band.
Heard this song when it just came out in the US. We were on tour in California and radio stations plugged this one. We did not know White Lies, but everytime it came on radio in the van whilst driving we were like 'hell yeah' That chorus speaks volumes of experiences to come....
When I hear this song, it takes me back to being a young soldier stationed in Italy (who had survived a 15mo combat tour), driving my pos dodge like a stolen rally car to go pick up my then-fiancee. To be young, reckless and invincible again.
@Deacon Lmao nah. Most likely U.S. Army during the War in Afghanistan. The 173rd Airborne Brigade is in Italy and has fought viciously in Afghanistan for more than a decade.
This song was suck in my head for so long now. 8 years maybe more, I couldn't remember the lyrics, anything.... and just like that today I stumble upon my ipod touch from 2007 and sure enough this was in the favorite section. Damn did it take me back to memory lane holding the ipod and hearing this. Cheers!
Dave Mustaine I first saw them live at kerrang in 2006 and they were amazing :D best night of my life was seeing them for my birthday at Wolverhampton civic in 2012
Dónde están los comentarios en español? Me había olvidado lo poderosa que es esta canción. Ufff fan de esta canción desde el primer momento que la escuché en Mtv (cuando era cool)
USMCLP think it’s probably the Smiths lyric: ‘and if a ten tonne truck kills the both of us, to die by your side, well the pleasure, the privilege is mine” That might help drive some of that connection
2:35 when they bring in the chorus and verse at the same time it almost gives me chills. So cool...
my exact thought
It's brilliant
Yes goosebumps! 💓
Yeah, yeah, I always go crazy for this
Totally agree with you!
2024, anyone? Listen to this every morning ❤
Me!
yeah me too!
listened to it the first time just now :)
perfect time too because i choose to free
yep
Oh yes ❤

I was born in 1970, and this sound takes me back to the early-mid eighties...love it.
New Order-esk tunes on this group
yeah I also thought there was something a bit goth/new wave about it

@@lubosd8726 what are your top 5 favorite bands?
British Rockbands from this time period are by far one of the best bands of the past 30 years.

SAME!! not only were the songs catchy af they were genuinely good.theres just no sound like this nowadays.
This is one of those songs that I, without realizing it, sing along to in my car. The infectious chorus gets me every time.
D'you sing this song in your car? you must be the coolest people out there

The powerful, deep, even tone is ghostly. And the row-row-row-your-boat at the end is a glorious tempo boost finish.
One of the sweetest lyrics in music, “let’s grow old together and die at the same time”. Such a good song
God, this song will never get old. Can't wait for the new album.
Flashback......... DIRT 2 RALLY😁
The Best DiRT 2 soundtrack
Dirt 2 the best soudtracker racing game and the second place Forza Horizon 1
When I first listened to this one I thought it was a forgotten classic form the 80's.
Fabi Astro Same here. I learned that this wasn't just a month ago.

so true
This sounds soooo 2000s and I’m a huge 80s music fan... doesn’t sound like the 80s at all
Same. I first had a listening of this song in dirt 2 but haven't found the song name out till now...
Damn.. that reverb gave me goosebumps from head to toes!
Great Dark Vibe to this Song. Back when MTV Will Put Music Videos

This song is for life, it doesn't matter if you are still listening to it in 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 or 2050. This song will be for ever in your soul.

Same! Honestly one of my favorite throwback tracks as well as Muse’s Uprising 🙌🏼
Il tempo vola
I remember this when it came out in 2008, I was volunteering for BTCV and it was always on the radio!
The best thing is that their album from 2019 has the same vibes as the early songs. They haven't lost their energy.
I can since I was at their gig in London in 2013.
Who in 2057??
😂
I won't make it that far 😂
Hopefully friend! 💯💪🏾🤝
It will sound from my grave
God willing
I just listened 30 times in the last hour!! perfect song!!
"let's grow oldo together, and die at the same time"
They sound like a mix of The Bravery and The Killers
Its perfect XD
This is one of their best tracks off this album. I'm listening to the new album right now, and it has an eighties goth feel too!
What album?
One of the Top 10 best songs of all time, hands down!!!
There are songs that get boring after listening to them several times. And then comes this song, what a masterpiece!
Never gets old unlike us 😊
drums-bass-voice-drive: goosebumps
I love their style. It reminds me of the music I listened to in the 80s while in high school. Thank you for bringing it back =)
Yes !!..took me back to the exact same era of alternative rock.
The Chameleons UK came to mind.
Clear inspiration
One of my favorites from the DiRT 2 soundtrack ❤
Who in 2020?

Still here 💕 so so beautiful
If I'm alive in 2089, I'll still be listening to it

Always had this in my head as a 80s/90s song
Again one of the best songs ever recorded. Fact. (Just not long enough so played it twice)

I get a Joy Division vibe from this, brilliant.
I was thinking the same

Totally, it islike they had a child from Joy Division and The Smiths!!
and a bit of Depeche Mode
This crushes my emotion every single time...
The only instrument shown is the drums?!! Genius!!!
Classic ... timeless ... powerful
Why can't White Lies new music be this good? :(
+Luke Anthony Well to play devil's advocate you ought to listen to their demo tracks for the new album, it's actually good.
Sorry, but it is not nearly as good as this :(
The last album “Five” is pretty good. Check out “Never Alone”, “Kick Me” (especially second part of the song), Time To Give and other stuff

I would say 95% of the artist can't make music as good as they used to do
