I was in a car accident after one of your concerts in 2010 and this was the song that helped me recover. "We may make it through the war, if we make it through the night," meant so much to me. Even now I need this song to get over the death of my best friend. So thank you for touching my life for 14 years now ♡

I'm an old hippie and have seen so many great bands since the 70's. But I've never had a more spiritual experience than one transcendent night in Birmingham Alabama right before covid was on us. The pure joy and love that went through that crowd I'll never forget. I love you Joseph Benson, JP Brown, Jesse Benson Alayna Kaitlyn for taking this old man to this show. This song is so cathartic. Please play this at my funeral along with funeral for a friend by Elton John. These guys are right up there with the classics. Let love rule !
I was at that show in Bham. Grew up here. Saw this band at Red Rocks, in Dallas, New Orleans, Bham and DC on this recent tour. Everything they do is exceptional.
Being from Wasilla, and graduating from the same High school that Zach and John went to, I'm super proud of their Bands success and their talent as Artists. I like our town being known for their bands origins, rather than the place Sarah Palin is from. I'm a swim coach for Wasilla High, and I tell my kids a lot, just because they're from this little town, doesn't mean they cant get out and make something of themselves, and be an impact on the world. Needless to say, we jam to Portugal during practice.
I read about Portugal. The Man in a magazine in 2011 and this was the first song of theirs that I looked up and listened to. Still one of my favorites. Rock on Lords!

Who cares about their socio-political views? I may disagree, but when I listen to their music, I like it, and they seem like they like doing it. Plain and simple. I don't require other qualifiers. I understand if this doesn't appeal to everyone. Doesn't make you less of a person for not digging it, and I'm not better than you because I do. To each his (or her) own.
I can’t believe it’s been 14 years since I first heard this song. I want to hate it because the person who showed it to me is back stabbing con artist but I can’t be mad at this song. This is the first time hearing it in probably 10 years and it’s still just as fire as when the acoustic version was first uploaded.
phoebe louise It's pretty good for the economy, and it's the thing that really pushed America to pursue and invest in technological advances like the computer. If not for war, you could say the computer might not be as powerful as it is today, and P.TM might not have been able to record this song because it's much cheaper now than it was say, a decade ago, to produce music independently. Also, RUclips probably wouldn't have been made until the internet became capable of dealing with the bandwidth, so it wouldn't have even been around for the person to create it, to have actually created it, or ahem, Myspace. These aren't justifications at all, war is an awful thing that no one should be willing to do, yet it is deeply ingrained in our DNA to wage war and battle for things. Truth is, physical wars may end, but there will never be an end to the wars we wage on each other every day. tl;dr - This is a pointless comment.
phoebe louise idk if that's sarcastic or not, but if it is, I never meant to downplay your opinion or anything. I'm just offering what I believe is a reasonable argument against people thinking war is stupid. Of course war is stupid, but no one ever wants to talk about the technological advances and the good it did for us; This is why I decided to play devils advocate and type that comment. If you aren't being sarcastic, then don't feel sorry, we're all entitled to our opinions. There's no such thing as a right or wrong answer here; and no reasonable person would ever hold any opinion you make against you. That being said, my favorite brand of coconut water, (which I won't name here because they haven't sponsored me yet, bastards..) wouldn't exist without some military intervention in a certain country, so on a much lighter, much darker note, I'm glad war was around.
+Dan Dez it's so hard to get emotion across in comments, I was being sarcastic and defensive because In the moment your comment felt like an attack. However like I said its hard to get emotion across and I do one hundred percent understand that we can all have opinions and that you were just offering yours, I'm sorry now that we've had a misunderstanding I guess, also with the commenter above directly bashing my opinion I think I just felt targeted.
I think the premise of this video is basically the blind leading the blind. It's about how the values, truths and ethics of society are in conflict with those of its citizens. Yet for some reason, those citizens are blind to this conflict of interests or willingly accept it. The video is ultimately about a struggle to break free from these institutions.
This one gives me a bit of an 'Oasis' feel... Which makes sense, considering they've referenced Oasis songs in some their lyrics. They also covered 'Don't Look Back in Anger'
Letra: Salva-me, Não posso ser salvo, Não vou, Sou filho do presidente. Todos as pessoas dizem: Que dia lindo, yeah , ganhamos a guerra.
+Andrew Richards Rock on. Good to know I'm not the only one. And eh, doesn't really surprise me. This song has a Chili's vibe for sure. Keep listening to those awesome jams.
BROSPAYNE WHAT? You didn't get it right... I'm telling that influences doesn't tell how a band sounds. tikondiroka said that in a sort of way. I mean, Beatles is One Direction's biggest influence, but they have NOTHING to do with Beatles musically (except the fact that both seem similar to a boyband style of publishing ). Yeah, portugal. the man are influenced by oasis and this song reminds a bit, but I think they are really different.

An anti-war, curtly anti-religious band from Alaska with great rock music to boot. Count me in as a fan.

I dont know what it is about that guitar with twang to it, but i love it.
This song makes me sad
maggie shi thats the point
ive listened to this song atleast 50 times and it gets better every time ;)))
Fucking love this song and the message behind it, war is just the stupidest most disgusting thing.
phoebe louise It's pretty good for the economy, and it's the thing that really pushed America to pursue and invest in technological advances like the computer.
Truth is, physical wars may end, but there will never be an end to the wars we wage on each other every day.
tl;dr - This is a pointless comment.
phoebe louise what a vague platitude
I'm so sorry for voicing my opinion :) thankyou for helping me see the light
phoebe louise idk if that's sarcastic or not, but if it is, I never meant to downplay your opinion or anything.
It honestly doesn't matter where they are from. They're amazing... This band could've formed on planet Mars? You think I would care? I love this band.
oasis, embrace, Portugal. The Man
The end of the video made me smile like no other.
What would've happened if they didn't have a million more? You know...
Some long overdue peace....
Come back to Portland OR
They live here, so it's likely. In fact, they're playing tomorrow at Edgefield. :)
so very powerful. looking forward to see them again someday. All the disease and climate change and polution is killing us.
Letra:
Salva-me,
Não posso ser salvo,
Não vou,
Sou filho do presidente.
Não preciso de alma.
Todos os Soldados dizem:
" Vai correr bem,
Podemos Passar pela Guerra,
Se passarmos pela noite."
Todos as pessoas dizem:
Que dia lindo, yeah , ganhamos a guerra.
Perdemos um millhao de homem , mas ganhamos tambem um millhao
Todas as pessoas dizem :
Divide Comigo
Toda a tua dor
Nao vou dividir o teu amor
Preciso de todo o teu amor
Todos os Soldados dizem
Vai ficar bem
Podemos passar pela Guerra
Se passarmos pela noite
Todas as pessoas dizem:
Que dia lindo, yeah, ganhamos a guerra
Perdemos um milhao de homens, mas ganhamos tambem um millhao
Todas as pessoas dizem
Salva-me
Não Posso ser salvo
Nao vou
Nao preciso de amor
Sou filho do presidente
Todos os soldados dizem
Vai ficar bem
Podemos passar pela Guerra
Se passarmos pela noite
Todas as pessoas dizem:
Que dia lindo, yeah, ganhamos a guerra
Perdemos um milhao de homens, mas ganhamos tambem um millhao
Todas as pessoas dizem
Vai ficar bem
Vai ficar bem
Vai ser agora
Yeah, that's it. I couldn't think of it off of the top of my head
John Frusciante's early solo work vibes anyone? No? Just me? Oh.
Weird to see a chilies fan in here. You aren't the only one
+Andrew Richards Rock on. Good to know I'm not the only one. And eh, doesn't really surprise me. This song has a Chili's vibe for sure. Keep listening to those awesome jams.
redhotchilipepper432 we got good taste :)
These guys have a bit of a RHCP feel for sur
not really hearing any niandra lades in this fam what u on about
this was the first PtM I heard...game over man, game over!!
People say super
We love Portugal The Man, Portugal loves you! Greetings from Portugal
I miss this Portugal the Man
Brainwashed for corporate gain. Killing for cash and dying for profits.
muchos buenisimos!!! los portugales estan "the man" por cierto!
Sounds like oasis has been reborn
they have nothing to do with oasis, this song just resembles a bit.
***** Oasis was one of their influences
and beatles is one direction's biggest influence, lol. Doesn't mean much, sorry
***** The Beatles were a big influence on PTM, don't know what your trying to do here, but it is not working.
From 0:10 to 0:20 Reminds me of that solo from let it be by the Beatles
Do caralhoooo!!!! a ouvir estes meninos desde 2012
This song always gets stuk in my head,
seriously if I heard this without knowing who was playing I woulda thought it was Oasis
It does have a certain oasis feeling. Kind of wonderwall
far better than overrated oasis
