  • The Lomo LC-A started its production in 1984. It is a 35mm film camera with a fixed 32mm f2.8 lens named the Minitar 1. With its design based on the Cosina CX-2, it was built in Leningrad (Soviet era name of St Petersburg - LOMO standing for Leningrad Optics and Mechanical Association).
While it had some production shutdowns in 1994 and 2005, enthusiasts were able both times to have it continue in some form. In the first case, production was restarted by LOMO, and then by the Lomographic Society Internation, known today as Lomography.
The original camera was the Lomo LC-A and in 2006 it was replaced by the Chinese produced LC-A+ with Russian glass until 2007 when the glass too was made in China.
This is a classic camera, both because of its very special handling, but also because of the quality and caracteristic rendering.
This is a short review with examples.

This is a long shot but, I recently got one of these and I don't think the shutter fires correctly when the shutter release is pressed it the shutter moves but does not open. I do not know why this is as everything else works fine in the camera however, I do not know much about vintage cameras. Do you have any ideas about what might be happening?

Sadly I’m not that much of a technician. Have you tried using a fresh battery?

@@zand no, I didn’t even have a battery in it in the first place I figured the shutter was fully mechanical but I will try that. Thank you
