The points per special changes get a lot more disappointing when you realize that like half of them are just undoing a previous change

The only thing slower than a Dynamo's vertical swing is the update schedule, and it's also less effective too
At least Dynamo's vert has some legitimate uses, balancing patches in 3 have been worthless.

I can confirm below S rank the lobbies are absolutely infested with enperries, like at least one if not two every match
No like for real. And Triple Splashdown seems easy for season players to deal with, but I struggle with it and I’m in lower S rank.

I think your focus on top level pro play is what makes a lot of the changes confusing. It's a radically different game at lower levels, and it would make no sense for the devs to focus all their updates on the tiny decimal of a percentage of players in pro play
Yes but the lower level is subjective, people say clash is broken lower level, some say range, some say nautilus, and I even saw someone call zip squiffer the end of casual play. Top level isn’t perfect since you can use voice chat to give quick communication but it’s more objective. If I were a new player I’d hate to be doing super well with a fun weapon and then it just gets randomly nerfed because the people I beat whined instead of developing counterplay
Yeah, but overreacting to changes that actually benefit most of the playerbase probably gets him more of that $weet, $weet engagement.

Honestly I don’t know who Nintendo is balancing this game for. Obviously they know this game has a competitive scene. Because it’s big on Japan. But also their main audience is casual players. Kinda puts them in a no win situation when you think of it.
Its always fun being a Salmon Run main watching pvp changes with indifference.
The only things there are good and noteworthy worthy is 153 pieces of gear being added is awesome, fizzbang is an amazing feature, Tableturf players like myself eating good right now and that’s it we are still stuck with this meta for mostly likely forever :(

But new leaf, for the fricking 3DS has more content. This dev team is lazy. I can’t excuse it at this point. Fumbled both games.

This might be Chara’s fastest news to video upload ever. Mostly because you can count the amount of notable changes on one hand, but I digress.
For what it’s worth, the Reefslider buff in salmon run is huge cause it can now actually kill bosses like scrappers and steel eels with its explosion
Enperries definitely got the nerf because it was by far the most common weapon in solo queue, at least where I was at high S/low S+. It's not even particularly uncommon to see one on both teams or two on one team.
Final Haunt is a weird but comfy song, neat choice by your editor. I double took when I heard a Shadow the Hedgehog track that wasn't I Am or All Hail Shadow or something.

One of the funniest intros Chara and his editor did. It's great that the dualies, breallas, stringers, and splatanas are getting new victory animations for the "Repping Inkopolis" emote.

At this point, it's pretty clear that Nintendo EPD Group 5 is all-hands-on-deck for their next project for the Switch 2. And going by sales numbers, it's almost certainly the next Animal Crossing. To be clear, Splatoon & Animal Crossing have folks who *ONLY* work on one or the other. The issue is the 30-40% staff overlap between projects, so EPD 5 can only prioritize one or the other at any given time. That said, there's no good reason for them to still not have fixed the Splattercolor Screen's audio-based accessibility issues. You don't need a full team for that, especially when they already fixed the visual issues.
So that's why New Horizons got left in the dust.
I hope they go with a different dev team. They fumbled both games…

Fizzbangs are being added to splatfest turf wars. Toss them like a clam or an egg. They explode after a while and are acquired by either spawning or getting splats
You remember neo splatana stamper? Well that was a mistake, it’s being fixed to splatana stamper nouveau
In the department of salmon run, N-zap is getting a damage buff, as when it’s damage was buffed in 6.1.0, it wasn’t changed in salmon run. That actually kinda matters

I completely understand the frustration people have felt with this update in patch, but I really think this whole “garbage patch” is being dragged TOO far. Not every repost of update info from a content creator/community figured needs to be a complaint, lowkey a little frustrating.
Like I said, I get the frustration, but atp most people aren’t even trying to see a silver lining, they just want to complain (not saying that about this video, just in gen).

Yeah Emparry dullies was a very common pick during the splatfest, to the point where there was 3 on a team with one sniper. They also used there special quite a bit often, though I don't feel like it was outright spammed, it felt like it sometimes was
Enperry's also a really common weapon in Anarchy Open.

I really wish they put in bubble blower instead of splashdown.. and gave enperries the inkjet they deserve. Literally every weapon that has splashdown would combo better with bubble. And for the fourth weapon they could give it to gloogas or something.
agreed, bubble blower has it’s own identity and does the job that screen tries to do, but better (the bubbles can block vision AND can block damage when you’re inside them, but are balanced in that aspect because you can’t shoot other people when u hide in the bubbles.)
reefslider already exists, having two specials that kind of do the same thing is pointless

Honestly kinda happy about the big swig buff, it's not my main but it's something I use for fun on the side. I was always running out of ink right when I needed it most. I hope this helps!
I would say Enperry is more on a casual side cause when I do splatfests or just mess around with TW I see them all the time. Sometimes 3 or 4 between both teams. And in lower ranks I run into them depending on the mode.

Same. I really want to wear the Takoroka Windcrusher again since it was my favorite piece of gear from Splatoon 2 and I was surprised to not see it in Splatoon 3 yet. I do look forward to trying out the new map and dualies, but almost none of the new weapons interest me.

Enperries is a popular pick in low rank/casual play cause they are really easy even with one of the worst specials. The special was happening a lot and most of my teammates cannot punish it
It's fairly reasonable, extremely safe assumption Nintendo is having most of their console dev studio teams working various stages of production on content for the upcoming next console right now or compatibility patches/other software work. I wonder if Splatoon's team is mostly split working on the DLC right now or possibly part of them on the early concept stage for new different releases or a patch to enable Splatoon 3 to work compatible on the next console.
Sure sounds boring. But I wouldn't be surprised if they aren't operating at full production level right now, which is why things are a bit more light.
Not to mention the partner direct and partially bare release schedule recently when you look at Nintendo as a whole recently.
Edit: don't get me wrong they should've planned it so we are getting triple kits right now imo and less disappointments that's more on the current people working/deciding but I am not surprised

I was just about to comment about the Stamper Nouveau fix but you added it in the outro. Before the fix I swear Splatoon 3 was literally unplayable.
At least 2 emparys were on most every team during the weekend fest on lower levels so yeah theres reason I don't like it as an empary main but I do get it
If I had to guess this patch was small because it's the start of a new season which means new weapons and kits so the meta might shift quite a bit therefor they don't want to mess with too much lest there be unintended results, but they still could've done a PFS (PointsForSpecial) nerf to Pencil and Squeezer
I wish we could get an aerospray buff to go to a 4 shot instead of 5. It still can't kill from a distance and has a bad spread it just makes it actually function when you catch someone by surprise

Honestly concerning the Enperry Dualies? I do see them a lot in solo q S lobbies and in Turf War, they do get picked a decent amount, and for those with a lower skill level, Triple Splashdown is a nightmare to deal with. You have to anticipate it AND be able to very quickly adjust your aim in order to really be able to knock down the player and the two extra fists. If you aren't on top of your game and Enperry rolls in and splashdowns, you at best will trade if you can knock the player down. And that's if you have a good weapon that can dish out enough damage accurately or over a wide enough AoE, if you're using something like the Nova or Aerospray you're screwed. At worst, Enperry just got free splats - I see it happen A LOT, Triple Splashdown for the Enperry Dualies is near guaranteed value both in Turf War and Anarchy battles.
And it didn't help that Enperry can get Triple Splashdown a lot, I have seen a player get six in one Turf war match once and that's a bit ridiculous. So for me the Enperry getting the nerf makes a fair amount of sense.

I'm a bit tight about enperry need I haven't touched other weapons since its launch and I wanted a splash down buff it needs a small buff like armor and bigger super jump splash radius

Chara depression arc
Emperry is in almost all of my S rank games. So yeah, it is VERY, VERY popular in lower level. And as a duelie main since 2019 Splatoon 2, despite being able to dodge roll away from some Triple Splashdowns, whenever someone pops it in my base after murdering my whole team the entire game is pretty much over. Not like you can clutch in 15 seconds.
I’m just hoping that when they finish dev for side order they can focus more on balance changes and updates

4:20 I actually went through and calculated what would have changed if this was the point distribution from the start. I couldn’t check world premier, but that aside. Team fun would win instead of gear (+1 to big man, -1 to shiver). Spicy wins over sweet (+1 shiver, -1 Frye). And fist bump beats handshake (+1 Frye, -1 shiver). Overall the number of wins barely changes. Shiver has 8 instead of 9, big man has 5 instead of 4 and Frye still only has 1 but would have gotten that 1 much later on

I kinda wished they went above and beyond with the Reppin Inkopolis emotes and also the Splatoon 2 emotes. They all use the Inkling Girl Animations. By no means that isnt bad. What Im saying is they couldve given us an option to swap the animations we wanted to use while having the emote on, since in Splatoon 1 and 2, you had different win animations for each weapon based on your gender aswell as species
Some of the octoling win animations in Splat 2 were honestly goated

so guys I was playing splatoon 1 today and something happened that I NEVER before saw in my entire life!
I was playing turf war and a nameless hacker (his name was literally " " just a blank space) who was level 1 managed to hack the game in a way I never saw before: first of all I found myself in splat zones, then I noticed the sky was black and then I noticed a new music I didn't recognize (I think it might've been from the old splatfests). so there I was playing splat zones in a turf war lobby on night mode,
after we won the game by knockout, THE VICTORY SCREEN TREATED IT LIKE TURF WAR so I got 5 EP and my ranked points didn't change. the game actually treated it like turf war. it was a surreal experience :D
Fun fact: with the Splatfest point changes, if they applied this to every Splatfest, the only results that would change would be that Spicy would win over Sweet and Fistbump would win over Handshake. So Frye would still have the same number of wins lol.
And I think Frye would lose the first Japan fest so she would have even less wins
Ok, so i just had a match in Turf where all theee of my teammates had Custom Explo (with me being Octo Shot Replica, aka TTek), and while the first half of the match showed mr that Custom Explo is also bad in Turf, i cannot tell you how shocked i was at the comeback in the last 30 seconds. We ended up winning.
