" _"Dr." Colon still doesn't want to admit that FBAs created Hip Hop._ "
      Doesn't matter.
Blacks don't need the consent or permission from others to claim their own culture.
Every single genre in America was created by FBA's.
      Hispanics played NO ROLE!
      Whites played NO ROLE!
      Asians played NO ROLE!
This debate doesn't begin with Hip Hop. It begins with blues, country, jazz, big band, be-bop, rock n roll, funk, R&B and Motown.
By pretending that the trend where Whites, Hispanics, Caribbeans and Asians STEAL Black culture starts in Hip Hop, we do the debate a disservice.
By observing the way that all non-FBA's have criticized every iteration of BLACK MUSIC .. calling it "N-word" music or "jungle music" UNTIL each genre goes from being niche music to wildly popular underground music that Whites have historically gotten involved with to commercialize Black music to make money for themselves.
Creating music and participating in the culture are TWO DIFFERENT THINGS.
One cannot name one Hispanic, Caribbean or White that influenced Black culture.
Blacks don't dance like Hispanics, Whites or Asians.
*FBA'S TEACH THE REST OF THE WORLD HOW TO BE INTERESTING.*
There is no Hispanic culture that you will see in Black neighborhoods.
At least with Asians, FBA's love martial arts. Always have. FBA's also love Chinese food.
But outside of those two things, there is no Asian culture in Black communities.
As far as Hispanics picking up what Blacks leave behind ... that's absolutely true.
      Look at MLB.
All the best baseball players were Black!
it wasn't until Blacks became more interested in playing basketball and football that Hispanics starting becoming prevalent in MLB.
      Why are we pretending?
Rock n Roll was created by Blacks! Then here comes the Buddy Holly's and Ritchie Valens.
They jumped on a bandwagon! They didn't create anything.
When you listen to Santana playing jazz/rock/blues fusion .. you're listening to a Hispanic man play Black music.
You don't see Black Mariachi groups because Blacks don't want your culture!
You don't see Black yodeling groups because Blacks don't want your culture!
You don't see Black Gagaku groups because Blacks don't want their culture!
It's not just Hispanics pulling this crap!
Go google "most popular Chinese genres" .. and you'll see things like "Chinese pop", "Chinese rock", "Chinese jazz" and "Chinese Hip Hop".
WTF is Chinese jazz? Its Chinese people playing Black music! Same with rock, pop and hip hop.
Everyone in the world claims BLACK MUSIC as their own .. and then goes on to say that because they learn to COPY Black music .. that Black music isn't Black anymore.
      Make that make sense.
Hip Hop/rap music is Black culture.
In NY, Hispanics back in the 70's and 80's, wanted no part of Hip Hop.
Go watch "Do The Right Thing".
When Radio Raheem walks down the street and the Hispanic guys turn up their bodega music, Raheem turns up Public Enemy to battle them.
Hispanics used to scold their little brothers and cousins for even wanting to be a part of Hip Hop. They told them "Stop trying to be like those N-words".
As far as "SEEING" breakdancing in media or whatever .. seeing culture on TV isn't the proof of where culture starts.
Seeing it for the first time is another way of saying "the first time Black culture was COMMERCIALIZED for everyone to see it".
Hispanics have NEVER brought anything like Black music to the world.
Can anyone give an example of Hip Hop in ANY Hispanic nation prior to 1980?
Culture vultures will do what vultures do.
      They are delusional.
John Leguizamo claimed that " _Hispanics built the USA_ " .. when the USA was the #1 nation and military power by the time Hispanics began sneaking over the border because Blacks fought and won Civil Rights to make it safe for them to come to America.
Hispanics were NOT prevalent in America prior to Civil Rights.
      Neither were Asians.
      Neither were Caribbeans.
      Neither were Africans.
Everyone came over AFTER 1964 and began trying to take credit for culture, political progress and the building of America itself!
How can you build something or achieve progress when you weren't even here?
No one was coming to the USA in any real numbers because as long as the Klan was allowed to run wild, none of those cowards came to join the fight.
What did Big Pun say when he was still alive?
Pun said " _Thank you to the Blacks/FBAs for allowing me to participate and make music in your culture_ ".
If Puerto Ricans have been rocking and breaking since 1975, what music were they breaking to?
No one was EVER breaking and popping to Hispanic music.
That is the point: Dancing to BLACK MUSIC isn't Hispanic culture or influence.
It's crazy that Colon would even insinuate that nonsense.
Ultimately, what Colon is saying is "If Blacks don't sit on their culture, then they lose their seat."
Colon believes that Blacks can create whatever they want.
If Blacks don't horde it, non-Blacks will steal it.
Colon says that PROXIMITY somehow equals innovation.
This is sad. Taking credit for other people's culture simply because you were around them when they were performing it .. and then later on creating events and Olympics to take credit for keeping the culture alive is a desperate, pathetic grab for attention.
Hispanics have their own music. Hip Hop is not one of them.
No Hispanic music is global. No one in Russia or India or New Zealand is buying Puerto Rican or Mexican or Cuban music.
Hispanics want to be a PART OF something that is not theirs .. because the world doesn't find them interesting without it.
Name 4 influential Hispanic rappers. Name 4 influential Hispanic DJs.
      You can't. They don't exist.
What Hispanics are doing with Hip Hop is what Whites did with Rock n Roll .. even going as far as hailing Elvis as "King of Rock n Roll".
When Thelonious Monk was asked decades ago why he and his colleagues invented Jazz, he replied:
*Monk* "We invented Jazz because we wanted a music that White people couldn't play(steal).
      It's no different today.
As I said earlier .. *AMERICAN BLACKS TEACH THE REST OF THE WORLD HOW TO BE INTERESTING.*
      America's greatest export is ENTERTAINMENT.
And if there was a button that could be pressed where every bit of Black invented culture could be off limits to all but FBA's, America wouldn't be interesting at al.
Too many non-Blacks believe that Whites, Asians and Hispanics playing BLACK MUSIC is somehow a different genre simply because a non-Black is playing it.
      That's ridiculous.
When YoYo Ma plays classical music, does it become Chinese Classical music?
When Stan Getz played jazz, did it become Blue-eyed jazz?
When Hispanics stood around witnessing Hip Hop being performed, did Hip Hop become Latin Hip Hop because Hispanics danced and stood next to the MC's and DJ's?
Again, name just 4 influential Hispanic rappers or influential Hispanic DJ's in the last 30 years.
If Hispanics were there since the beginning, where were they?
Which Hispanic rappers/DJs are we leaving out or forgetting about?
No rap song was in Spanish. No rap group ever came out with a Spanish album.
There were no breakdance moves with Spanish names.
Fat Joe didn't name himself Jose Gordo .. because he wasn't making his music for Hispanic people. He was catering to Black people.
Hispanics weren't wearing gold chains, Kangols, skullcaps, baggy jeans, and hoodies.
Hispanics wear that style today because THEY ARE COPYING BLACK PEOPLE'S culture.
Hispanics and Caribbeans have made no contributions to ANY culture in America outside of bodegas, food trucks, landscapers and laborers in Home Depot parking lots.
There is literally nothing else that I can think of that if Hispanics were to disappear today would change America in any way.
Same with Caribbeans. Same with Asians. Same with Africans.
All those groups came to America only AFTER Blacks won Civil Rights and made it safe for them to come over. No one who wasn't considered White wanted to come and endure what FBA's did.
This is why it's imperative to gatekeep culture.
Hispanics don't have to because no one wants what they have to offer.
There's no one arguing over who created reggae because no one else wants it.
There's no one outside Asians trying to claim lion dancing or Shen Yu type performances .. because no one else wants it!
No one is trying to steal your boring shit. No one outside YOUR people are buying your music.
FBA's might go into Spanish bars/clubs .. but it's not to be a part of your culture. Its to get Hispanic females.
      You people are insane.

    • @asswuppin
      @asswuppin 7 дней назад

      @@urbancommute5239 *PART 1*
Well let me be the first to respond.
I would respectfully disagree with you that there is nothing to create from other cultures.
Other cultures by themselves IMO lack the flair that leads to mass appeal.
But with the right imaginations, wine can be turned into water and wood into gold.
Take the song "Big Pimpin" by Jay-Z.
The Indian instrumentals sampled to make the track instantly made that song a hit.
FBA's have such imagination and are so creative, that they took music that no one but Asians would listen to and turned it into a #1 hit.
      It wasn't the first time.
Eric B and Rakim released "Pump Up The Volume" .. and there was an Indian women singing over Hip Hop beats on the track.
The song was a instant hit and a classic.
I'm actually playing it as I type this right now.
Now here's the million dollar question:
How many non-Asian people started listening to Indian singing OUTSIDE of those two songs after hearing them?
      I'd say slim to none.
This is just one example of how FBA creativity can take almost ANYTHING .. even the genres and ideas that usually would not appeal to the rest of the world .. and make them interesting.
      And let's be honest:
The litmus test for how interesting a thing is comes down to whether or not FBA's like it.
There are some things that exist that have nothing to do with FBA's in the world .. and those things are usually popular with a single group .. making the niche trends.
For mass appeal, the rest of the world has adopted a formula that goes as follows:
1 - Have your ear to the ground and be first to know when FBA's create something new. Hire some Black kid or some White DJ that hangs out on the wrong side of the tracks to keep up with FBA style.
2 - Watch and study what FBA's have created and are performing.
3 - Find a way to make what FBA's create "less ethnic" so that non-FBAs can perform it without completely coming off as wiggers.
4 - Put all the marketing, promotion and money behind non-FBAs who can perform the new style/trend/genre .. and eventually begin to phase out the people who created the new genre altogether.
By exclusively putting non-FBA acts on radio, TV, Superbowl performances, daytime and nighttime talk shows, they effectively *create the perception that non-Blacks are the **_REAL_** talent* behind the music .. because we don't get to see Black faces attached to the music and culture that FBA's have created.
Then, slowly but surely, 100% FBA genres become White genres.
We saw blues become country and bluegrass.
We saw Jazz become big band.
We saw rock n roll become ALL WHITE .. or at the very least non-Black .. promoting guys like Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, Elvis Presley, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, etc.
Most of these White musicians ADMIT in interviews that they were just average bands who badly wanted to be like men like Muddy Waters and Chuck Berry .. but knew they were second rate facsimiles.
But that didn't matter because *ACCESS TO WIDESPREAD EXPOSURE* wound up being the determining factor between overwhelming success and marginalization.
Whites owned the radio stations. Whites controlled *PAYOLA.* Whites owned all the concert halls and venues. Whites controlled all the major events and who were signed to perform at them.
It's amazing how often that we all forget that the Grammys, Oscars, Emmys and Tonys are *WHITE-OWNED, WHITE-RUN* institutions made by Whites, for Whites.
FBAs .. the leading creative force for entertainment and culture in America, have been made to pander for recognition from Whites who only became successful in the way that they did because they appropriated and commercialized FBA music and culture!
Anyone ever see " _The Shawshank Redemption_ "?
If you haven't, go check it out.
For those who have seen it, FBA's have been made to be Andy Dufresne, the man/prisoner with the talent behind the scenes that made the warden and his prison guards, wealthy men.
Andy achieved this because he knew exactly how to "cook the books".
As long as Andy was willing to be a well behaved prisoner/slave and do exactly what he was told, the warden showed Andy favor with small privileges and minor protections.
But as soon as Andy got too big for his britches, Andy was reminded that he had no say, no power and what everyone believed was no recourse to rectify his situation.
The warden had every intention of maintaining this dynamic for as long as possible if he had any say in it.
Even when the possibility of there being evidence to exonerate and free Andy came to light, the warden opted to conspire and commit murder to protect his interests at the expense of Andy's freedom.
FBAs are, and always have been, Andy Dufresne.
*Whites society has always been the warden.*
Non-Whites, like Hispanics and Asians, have become the prison guards .. who mistreat FBAs and work against FBA interests .. for the chance to one day be seen as "White-adjacent" or at the very least be treated like a well loved pet.
No matter how Andy's genius made them all wealthy .. no matter how Andy's efforts changed their lives for the better .. Andy was just a prisoner. Andy, for all intents and purposes, was a slave.
FBAs must wake up and realize, like Andy did, that FBAs are the talent. FBAs never needed non-FBAs to make their gifts mean something to the world.
FBAs just needed to find ways to broadcast the beauty of what they create to the rest of the world WITHOUT the warden's or the prison guard's hands in their pockets.
That is the dynamic that FBAs live with for centuries in America.
And as we see, it's the dynamic that FBA's are still living with.
There are actual debates trying to JUSTIFY non-Blacks appropriating Black intellectual property.
It was *NO COINCIDENCE* that FBAs were *FORBIDDEN* from even entering the office .. let alone applying for patents, trademarks or copyrights.
A prison isn't made with bars and walls.
A prison is made with terror, intimidation, unjust laws and a denial of access to resources, equity and equality.
What have Hispanics or Asians ever done or given to FBA's that would lead them to believe that FBA culture is an open buffet for them to pick and choose from?
What Kendrick said should be becoming clearer by the day to FBAs.
Hispanics and Asians have entire genres named "Asian/Latin Hip Hop", "Asian/Latin Jazz", "Asian/Latin Rock", "Asian/Latin Pop", etc..
But these people have the audacity to pattern their culture after what they've stolen from FBAs .. and then turn around and oppose reparations that is not coming out of their pockets???
Mexicans, during a Juneteenth celebration, actually felt _slighted_ that they weren't personally invited and represented in an FBA celebration.
The level of entitlement is insane with these people.
Hispanics are outspoken about anti-FBA interests and issues.
Valentina Gomez, a Hispanic republican candidate, called Juneteenth "ratchet" .. and said that FBAs need to leave America!
This coming from a woman who wouldn't be anywhere in America but the strawberry fields if FBA's didn't fight for the right for them to be and feel free.
      They are not like us.

If the Latinos help create it why they didn’t evolve with the culture? When the Breakdance Era was over we went into Hip Hop Dancing like the Patty Duke, The Cabbage patch, the Wop, the Biz Mark etc. the Latinos knew they couldn’t Breakdance in our parties no more cause around “85” it was outdated so they abandoned the culture and went into Freestyle Music culture heavy around “86”. By “87” Latinos were almost totally non existent in Hip Hop as a collective so here’s my question….Why would you abandon a Culture you help create and why you didn’t evolve with the culture in the mid to late 80’s? I’ll wait

As a teenager growing up on the East Coast during that era of Hip-Hop, in specifically recalling the years 1989 and 1990, I [do] recall oftentimes hearing as to how certain West Coast wasn't considered real Hip-Hop. NY radio stations 107.5 WBLS and 98.7 Kiss FM weren't playing the likes of MC Hammer, Young MC, and Tone Loc like that...at all! Those legendary Rap artists were more embraced by both the Pop audience and radio. However, NY did show mad love to the likes of Digital Underground, the DOC, and even the West Coast All-Stars collaborative classic. NY radio really started considering and embracing the West Coast to various degrees when Dre and Snoop dropped the classic 1992 gem "Deep Cover." #FromMyRecollection

Firstly, Hispanic isn't a race, secondly, factually acknowledging that a group didn't contribute to the origins of an art form isn't racist (racism is exploitative, Hispanics CAN be racist, but Blacks CANNOT, as Black people lack institution for such behavior), thirdly, guarding your culture against a repeat of past exploitation & theft (jazz, rock, country, etc.), is not bigotry, it is the right of any ethnicity to gatekeep for the sake of their progeny. FBA isn't claiming Mr. Colon's mariachi heritage. Before you timed me out, I was saying that their tactics are easily seen and can be countered with a call to action. That's why he initially attacked you because it looked like you and Tariq were working up to a call to action. A call to action is providing contact information typically an email address for your followers to email. Then have them flood the Olympic committee with emails to make them aware of the controversy. That's what he thought you were building up to. Heck, that's what I thought you were building up to one and I was with you! He was attempting to get ahead of it by labelling you a racist so he could say he's already complained to the authorities (youtube) about you and your followers (chess). You all haven't done that yet, so I'm thinking he probably won't address you guys anymore because you're not a threat to the agenda. The Olympics and getting their story out to the rest of the planet.
That's why I was saying that we as a people don't ever see our agendas end with any real success. We forgot how to take actions... We talk but the call to actions with real actions other than spending money are very lacking. Everyone else knows how to do it with way less consensus, we have consensus but we don't take the actions. That's why they look at us like they do. It's more of a "Man, if I had that type of consensus do you know how far a long we would be?" type of attitude. We never use our power, so do we really have power? That's what they're starting to question.. And "if they really don't have any power then........."
