- Italian Sodas are a favorite! This creamy & refreshing drink is not only great for the summer months, but all year around and are easy to make. We are using Torani flavored syrups because they are available at your local grocery stores, specialty stores as well as on-line and they now have over 120 different flavors to choose from, including Puremade & Sugar Free syrups, but really any brand will do! Not only are they great in Italian Sodas but I will show you in future videos, how to use them in your favorite coffees, teas, lemonade’s & smoothies. In a future video, we’ll even show you how to make your own Whipped Cream in a dispenser using these syrups.
Today we’re going to show you how to make 4 Italian sodas using BlueRaspberry, Vanilla, Cherry & Rose syrups.

▬▬▬▬▬ INGREDIENTS ▬▬▬▬▬
Servings: (1) 12oz Drink
- ¾ Cup (112g) Ice
- Shy of ¼ Cup: (42.62ml or 1 ½ fl. oz) BlueRaspberry, Vanilla, Cherry, Rose or whatever flavor syrup you desire
- ½ Cup (118ml) Club Soda
- 3 Tbsp (44.36ml) Half & Half
- Whipping Cream for Topping
▬▬▬▬▬ GLASSWARE ▬▬▬▬▬
- 12 oz Glass or your preferred glass. You'll need to adjust the recipe according to your glass size.
▬▬▬▬▬ GLASS GARNISHES (OPTIONAL) ▬▬▬▬▬
- 1 Tbsp Honey (for rim of glass)
- 1 Tbsp Sugared Sprinkles (for rim of glass - You should be able to cover at least 4 glasses with 1 Tbsp)
- These sugared sprinkles were used to decorate the glass rim.
*Blue Raspberry Drink: Signature Select Sprinkles - Blue Party Sprinkles (Sparkly Blue Sprinkles)
*Vanilla Drink: Glittery Sugar Metallics (White Sugar Glitter) - Used Vanilla Bean powder to sprinkle over the whipped cream
*Cherry Drink: Wilton Sprinkles (Ruby Pearlized Sugar)
*Rose Drink: Glittery Sugar Metallics (Pink & Gold)
▬▬▬▬▬ DIRECTIONS ▬▬▬▬▬
1. Pour ¾ Cup (112g) Ice into 12 oz. Glass
2. Pour (42.62ml or 1 ½ fl. oz) or just shy of ¼ Cup of preferred Flavored Syrup into glass over ice (If you prefer it less sweet or sweeter, adjust syrup amounts)
3. Add ½ Cup (118ml) Club Soda to glass
4. Add (3) Tbsp Half & Half (If you want it less creamy, you can add less Half & Half. Start with ½ Tbsp)
5. Stir drink until well mixed
6. Add fresh Whipping Cream & top with garnish
▬▬▬▬▬ NOTE ▬▬▬▬▬
The following Syrups may “curdle” once the Half & Half Cream has been added to the drink. Some fruit syrups contain similar acids as in fruit mixes, which can cause milk to curdle & separate. While this may not be a good look, it’s a natural occurrence and does not affect the flavor. When making your drink, if the milk curdles, cut back on the Half & Half the next time you make it. Start with ½ a Tbsp and then test it by adding more.

can you substitute half and half with milk or will it make a very big difference?
It’s best to use half & half because you will be able to tell a big difference. You want that creamy taste/texture. 😀

Thanks for your question. I wouldn’t have it as a post work out drink due to the sugar content, but you can cut calories & sugar by substituting the syrups with sugar free options. 😀
Here in Italy we don't have this drink. It's like Alfredo pasta or Pepperoni pizza. I'm so curious to try this drink!

Is the syrup for adult drinks only? Or can kids drink it?
Kids can absolutely drink the syrup. This is a non alcoholic drink!
Can you use regular soda like Coca-Cola, Spite, etc. or does it have to be club soda?
It’s better to use Club soda, especially if you’re using the flavored syrups. Using Coca Cola will change the taste & using Sprite will make it sweeter. 😀

Can you use heavy whipping cream or should it only be half and half?
Half & half would be best. If you have heavy whipping cream, dilute it with milk, (combine 3/4 cup milk with 1/4 cup heavy cream) to make half & half. Hope this helps!

It does have a sweet taste, (it also depends on how much syrup you prefer) & tastes like a creamy soda. You have to try it!
Can I substitute the half & half for oat or almond milk?
I have never tried it with oat or almond milk, but try it out & let me know. I wish I had other alternatives…the half & half makes it creamy & rich, but I completely understand about wanting something different, especially if you have allergies. Wish I could be of more help!

Why is it called italian soda? Just curious because I'm italian and i've never seen this drink..
Great question! Torani, the syrup company, was the first to call an “Italian Soda” a drink made of flavored syrup & soda water. Since then, it has caught on & almost every coffee shop in the US serves this drink.

It is “half & half” which is half whole milk & half heavy cream.
Any secrets to preventing the cream curdling? It always happens to me.
Hi Jimmy! Instead of using half & half, try using heavy whipping cream which has a higher fat content & put the cream in first & then your other ingredients. Please let me know if that helps!

What is half and half?
Half & half is a mixture of equal parts of whole milk & heavy whipping cream. The recipe calls for 3 Tbsp so it’s 1 1/2 Tbsp of Whole Milk & 1 1/2 Tbsp of cream.

It is equal parts mixture of whole milk & heavy cream. You can purchase it in the store (typically used for coffee creamer) or you can make your own by mixing whole milk & heavy cream together. Hope this helps!

What is the meaning of half n half
In this recipe, Half & Half is a combination of 1.5 Tablespoons heavy cream & 1.5 Tablespoons whole milk. Grocery stores sell this in cartons so you don’t have to purchase both the milk & heavy cream products separately.

Yes, it’s 1.5 Tablespoon of Heavy Whipping Cream & 1.5 Tablespoon Whole Milk to create Half & Half.
