I don't play drums but I want to make one, question about the bass skin can the snare break through it ❓ maybe add some netting so the snare can't touch the skin

Is the bass drum head necessary?
Does it sound much better than just the kick pedal straight on the case?

Well made, man. I guess what measures the bass/snare are and how long is the suitcase?

I’ve got a small suitcase. Do you think a 12“ Tom would do as a kick?

I don’t reckon. 12 is too small. To get any decent low sound you’ll have to detune so much that will sound flappy. 16 is the minimum I reckon. Emad heads (with muting) will do wonders. The smallest I’ve seen is 16 inch

Sorry man I haven’t been on top of my RUclips Channel but I would think a 12 inch tom might be too small for the kick..
I would use a Samsonite suitcase or an American Taurus suitcase

I would use the Largest time I could find that would fit the case that you have 16 or 18 inches

I made one out of a 14" snare drum. I think that's as small as I would go. I've gigged with it for a couple of years now. Sounds great! I used an old Samsonite case from the 1950s that came with brass fittings and white piping. They made them to last back then! Anyway, it's a cool kit and always a conversation piece at shows. Thanks for the video Dan. I used this video and a couple of others to put mine together. Now a bunch of other drummers want me to build them for them lol.
