This version has truly split the audience. I'm on the side who loves it, appreciated the grittiness, the brutal honest, that it explored areas in the book that weren't expanded on in previous versions, and bravely added new ideas.

Kevin Beck and when he rejected her she seemed to be more peeved than if she had to perform the deed. In reality wouldn’t she have thank her lucky stars especially as she still was given the money. The theme of the book is about repentance, forgiveness and redemption. All seemed to be lost on the producer of this version of the story.

What was honest about it? It is a simple morality tale but with regards to this 'evil thinks as evil does' this is somebody else's sick mind not Dickens..but oh yes we got the message that British men have always been inane greedy evil bastards.

Watched 'A Christmas Carol' last evening in US. Blown-away by this interpretation! The relevance to our world today had me in tears. Well-done.

@@kevinbeck6785 I am British, and I loved it. I think the Daily Mail r, and Sun readers might find the concept difficult to grasp.

@@theindividualizt just saying it got hammered over here because people were expecting the story line of scrooge as it was written and by the way the telegraph the observer and the rest of the broadsheets panned the show

What utter utter rubbish. The worse version of a Christmas Carole I’ve ever seen. It spoilt the story and lost the plot.

all brilliant actors but why they have got themselves involved in this bastardised version of the classic Dickens novel I don't know if they wanted to do a modern-day version then do it on its own merit with no reference to dickens but then it would not have got the viewing figures

    • @kevinbeck6785

Terrible political version . The best version is and always will be the original version with Alistair Symm.
