Hello 😊🙋🏻♂️. I'm an absolute beginner and I don't understand the differences between amateurs, pros and female pros. 🤔 (In Chess we don't have this closed circles of professional players. All players are equally judged by their rating.) Wasn't this game a sure win for the amateur player? 😇 I read that 3d equivalents to 2kyu women's pro, so 5d = 1kyu wp, 7d = 1d wp. He's 8d and gets a 2 pieces handicap? I read that 2 pieces handicap is only given to players 3 ranks lower. 😮 It's all very confusing. As is the background music for me. We don't have background music in Chess videos. 😣
Thanks for your questions. Was the music confusing for you as well? The handicap was chosen by an amateur here, the rank difference did not matter. But nowadays I would say at least 5dan amateur is equivalent to Ladies Pro 2kyu. And yes if played properly it should be a win for Clawmac, but as you can see, piece drops and promotions in shogi are very tricky giving us an exciting game :))

I think that's a difference between German and Japanese culture, because my Shogi App, which I use for mating problems causes me the same problem, but since there are no explanations, I can turn the sound off, without missing anything. 😇 Maybe tomorrow I will meet a 7kyu from my town and have my first real game. 🤔 Another You Tuber recommended me, to take a 6 piece handicap. 👍🧙♂️
I wonder.. would, say a very high dan be able to win against a slightly lower dan in an handicapped game ? Or is it something that is played and possible only at lower levels?
There used to be a left lance handicap played between Meijin and the challenger. They realized with time that it was too much and changed to even. But saying this, I did have a pleasure seeing Habu bearing local amateur title holder with Bishop handicap a few years ago in Yamanashi pref.

6 or 8 pieces is a nice start for a beginner but as a chess player you will master them quickly! Good luck on your shogi journey :)
