I got this and it works great and I put a bigger lens hood on it and it actually work amazingly well. The images are even more contrast and clear from any hazing and flaring….!!

Thanks for sharing! I'm glad the longer lens hood worked out well.

Pay attention also at ttartisan AF 56mm 1.8, better on minimum focus distance.

Those photos look really familiar. Were they taken around Old Town Alexandria, Virginia?

      Yes, near the Torpedo Factory.

Definitely a Viltrox lens user. I absolutely trust their glass!

This makes a huge change for you Rob, I'm still watching your OMD/OMS videos and still need some, basic, help with my Pen F!
Yes, Viltrox are really charging onto the scene with a range of really classy lens. Tbh, were I looking for a quality 3rd party lens for this focal range, would find it very, very difficult to go past the excellent Sigma 56 1.4.
This has received universally positive reviews over a number of years.
Also, this Viltrox range is, obviously, quite different to the more upmarket selection- I have been very impressed with the top quality, but far, far more expensive 27 1.2.
It is appreciated that many will be attracted by the price point of this lens and its obvious value for money.
My only contrary comment would be, given the very high quality, sensor size and resolving of the Fuji body used, my thinking would be that many people owning that, relatively expensive-though excellent quality body, would generally be looking for high resolving IQ glass and be willing to pay a higher price, not necessarily always Fujifilm for their glass.
That said, there are now a very large number of X series bodies available both new and 2nd hand and this range of Viltrox glass would be ideal newer entrants to the Fuji X series.
By the way, while appreciating this was not a body test, how did you find the AF? It has always been a significant disappointment for me in the older X series bodies I own.
Great to see you branching out 🎉

Always good to hear from you, Robert. I have the Sigma 56 1.4 and really don't see much difference between the two in imaqe quality. I may do a side by side comparison later. As for the price, it makes a lot of sense for those on a budget using lower market cameras. For me, I will buy the very best I can afford with one caveat. It will be only in my favorite focal length. As for filling out the rest of the lenses, they don't need to be the best. Just a good value. As for AF, I haven't used the Fuji that much. It seems fine for most things. However, I found the OM-1 to be better at subject detect. Like when I do shots of Ellie. The Fuji will miss the eye more often. The face/eye detect for humans seems to be equal or slightly better. Hard to say at this point.
