I had a difficult childhood , with a mentally ill mother , and very disfunctional sister ..But I played outside all through the year . Walked everywhere , and swam all summer . Hiked and skied in the winter . I walked all over the cities I lived in , I went out at night and saw concerts .Being outside, or going out is the best medicine , also having a few good friends to make you laugh and get into trouble a little . Not hanging out on the ol computer all day and night . Pills can't fix your life . Living well can certainly help . We all need to Play More and Work and Worry less .

Tried to help
some of them, help themselves but I had to learn you can’t save people from themselves.

Personally I feel like our current societal situation with both parents working and trying to do it all is a mess. Getting proper sleep, nutrition, and exercise is such a task that it feels like a setup for failure. When you’re over exhausted and stressed because you never have any time for anything and told to just add more work with diet and exercise, it feels like a joke. SSRI’s just emotionally numb and make you not care if you’re fat, tired, and strangers spend more time with your kids than you do.

Replying toKDTif, I totally agree with you. Nowadays psychiatrist will diagnose probably 90% of their patients with Major Depressive Disorder and straightaway put them on sedatives and antidepressants which patients will be addicted to. Depression is not I inborn, mainly due to external forces and if these factors are not dealt with, these patients will NEVER recover despite and especially have to be on medications for the rest of their life. Tell me, how often and how long do psychiatrists spend time with their patients, the usual thing is repeat medications dispensed before. Remember the motto for doctors "FIRST DO NO HARM" and also first do no pharm.

I will say, my major depression & anxiety along with the suicide attempts showed up at 42 after losing my engineering career. Tried every drug available & had horrible side effects. Turned out, I left my bad marriage after 13 years of depression (33 years of marriage) & my depression went away. Had outstanding therapy to handle & process what I had dealt with & for the last 17 years I have never been happier & no depression or anxiety since the day I left. My psychiatrist & psychologists during those 13 years never considered situation. They just wanted to throw drugs at it which made it worse not bettet. Life is a challenge, I left the marriage with nothing but my inheritance from my mom after she died....life is truly good now. Depression, anxiety, Anorexia & PTSD.....all healed

From aged 23 I have had a life of addictions. I had been taking high dose antidepressants for over 25 years and always thought that I wasn’t depressed, but instead I had high anxiety, since I was a very anxious child and teenager. I was living a life of no tears and no enthusiasm for anything, just ticking off the days. Due to years of gut problems, in 2020 I changed my diet to ‘high fat animal based’ and once I gained pain free eating I decided to wean myself off of the SSRI’s. It’s now over 18 months since I finished with the pills and now I am experiencing the same high anxiety again! I have come to realise that I am an ‘Adult child of an alcoholic and dysfunctional family’. Drugs could never fix me. I have begun an ACA 12 Step program and adopted a Higher Power as the parent I never had.

A happy and healthy population is a more productive population. Stress from living in our society and the poor physical health is the number one cause in my belief. The pressure on people today is not what our brains are designed to withstand. ❤

Obviously there have to be benefits from antidepressants for some people, some of the time, otherwise they wouldn't have become some of the most sold and prescribed pharmaceuticals in the world. So you don't have to defend yourself for having found something that helped you. The problem is, that for others, like me, they end up causing more harm and suffering in the long term, and often, when being given the option to try these things, we are not told about the risks, or told of potential negative outcomes and problems with stopping them. I wish I had known about alternatives to SSRIs before I was told that I have a chemical imbalance and that a daily pill would fix me. Not only didn't it fix me, it made the course of my life 100 times worse, which 30 years later, I'm still trying to dig myself out from, thankfully with the help of doctors like this. Adopting a ketogenic diet, and then going mostly carnivore has been key for me, to help with the damage done by long term antidepressant use and the underlying anxiety which got me on them in the first place.

@12:42 it is not a freakin epidemic! It's just humans being humans, struggling with life problems for which they too often don't have any support because people don't trust nor support each other (hence loneliness) plus the fact that society doesn't give a F about individuals! It's not a freakin epidemic! People are having normal reactions to abnormal situations! When my dog died i was prescribed anti-depressants because i wasn't supposed to cry! Really now. If there's any epidemic then it's an epidemic of carelessness, coruption and ignorance.

    • @emipopescu3257
      @emipopescu3257 26 дней назад

@markozivkovic7409 Attachment to people or situations is normal to both humans and animals. Only psychopats do not emotionally attach to others because they perceive people as disposable objects. Also, it is normal to feel grief when losing someone we're emotionally attached to, but when this sadness is for too long it becomes chronic and we call it depression. We are habitual living beings so it may feel difficult to go through such changes. But resorting to alchohol and drugs and such, is a very destructive way to cope with reality. It would be ideal to have close people who help us go through such difficult times, either relatives, friends or therapists. Even mild anti-depressants could by far be a better option than alcohol because alcohol is highly destructive to just about any organ in the body. Thus, two aspects are important here: people who are willing to help us go through, and also we must allow to receive help.

What is also tragic is that people who get sober esp in AA think they took every drink, that their alcoholism has nothing to do with all the trauma they suffered in childhood - and they never fully recover. They live in the lie that it’s their issue alone - they did it - and there is so much relief in knowing the metabolic truth.

Wow. I just got the connection between trauma and chronic stress and metabolic health . I have had lifelong depression and anxiety and my health has not been good for a very long time, now. Psych drugs made everything worse. Therapy has only been minimally effective but I'm starting to understand why from continue reading/studying the issue myself. A problem is that from inside those conditions, answers to questions are different than they would be outside of them. For example, on the depression questionnaire you always have to fill out, I have never indicated a serious issue with focusing but I'm actually realizing I have a very difficult time focusing and I didn't know it because I've never known anything different. And when you say you don't struggle with focus, they believe you because they understand focusing from THEIR perspective. There's a mismatch. And I think that applies to everything. Does anyone understand what I'm describing? Back to the metabolic connection, I have gained a bit of flab on my body, I have very low energy. Severe anxiety. Awful depression. Food and environmental sensitivities. Light sensitivity. And on and on. It's all connected and I get it now. Thanks to listening to this kind of information, including Joe Dispenza. Thanks to all of you.

After tests and finding out my thyroid hormones were out i now know most of my sysmtons were due to that. Also read n reserched many psychiatry reports that patients with severe mental illness and not responsive to medication underwent thyroid tests and after correct diagnosis of thyroid dasfunction and treatment they were well and healthy.
Also get your thyroid antibodies tested as they can be causing underlying thyroid issues that dont show in thyroid hormone tests!

My grandmother spent many years of her life in an insane asylum. My father inherited the illness, and he would lie in bed for weeks without eating. He didn't stop eating for hours, or for days, he literally stopped eating for several weeks at a time. I have inherited (yes, inherited) the same illness and I currently am able to work, take care of myself and other people, and I pay taxes. This is because of psychotropic medications. There is no way that any diet would prevent me from going several days at a time without needing to sleep. There are so many things that I do when I am psychotic, that a nutritious diet and exercise would even come close to preventing. People like this man, often do not discuss other problems that people with mental illnesses face. It is extremely likely that a mentally ill person will abuse drugs and alcohol because they are not getting treatment for their illness. One problem is the likelihood that people will abuse drugs and alcohol, if their illnesses are not treated. Many of the addicts on skid row, and on the streets, most likely would not be there if they had mental health treatment for an underlying mental illness. The most important thing that I would like to comment on, is how insensitive and unempathetic this is to people who are suicidal. People who are so depressed that they have suicidal ideation and attempts, require urgent care and treatment. Neglecting people's depression, and other mental illnesses, is only going to increase the prevalence of people eventually following through with committing suicide. A nutritious diet and exercise are helpful for everyone no matter what they experience. Unfortunately, it isn't going to help people that are in a mental health crisis.

After quite a bit of introspection I have identified my biggest stressor, what stresses me all the time, is the fact that I have health issues, but still feel the pressure of having to function and work, to support myself financially and pay bills.
This is an inescapable fact for which I see absolutely no solution (besides winning the lottery). How is one supposed to reduce stress that is caused by having to work and pay bills, despite not being healthy and needing time away from this society? I really see no way out.

I suffer from depression and anxiety , I've had a rough upbringing and managed to deal with it until later in my adult life I was still very functional able to work two jobs always maintained my house kept clean took good care of my kids UNTIL I had a nervous breakdown due to low thyroid which I didn't know I had and had no idea what a low thyroid was .
Since then I've suffered from depression and anxiety of course it's being managed with antidepressant but I still battle with the symptoms of depression and anxiety.. My thyroid functions at times go up and down but for the most part are regulated..
Is my depression and anxiety caused by my Thyroid problems or my childhood trauma or both?
Because I'm on both Thyroid supplements and Depression and anxiety meds...
This topic has really raised an eyebrow and making me question taking SSRS since I believe Thyroid problems correct me if I'm wrong are metabolic

Depression seems to be a cognitive distortion. Not a chemical imbalance in brain. It's symptoms might be elevated by inflammation and consumption of plant sterols while its possible to reduce symptoms of depression by carnivore version of ketogenic diet. It has a lot to do with gut health. Messed up biom can be precursor for depression.

I don't want to be critical or negative, because this doctor, and those like him are right, they have the solution, metabolic health is where the focus needs to be. From my own experience, and those of some of my family members, it's has absolutely been the key. But for many people it's a catch 22 situation. Like trying to fix a broken tool with it's own broken self. Some people have got to such a bad state of affairs that they are not even capable of hearing this kind of information, let alone being able to take steps to fix it. I don't know what the solution is for those kinds of people, and it's not going to come through any kind of government or business avenue, because there's no money to be made from helping people through diet and lifestyle changes. There's a group of people who desperately need help, for all kinds of health problems, but they are too sick to jump through all the hoops to access that help. It's as if the system is set up to fail those people who most desperately need the help.

Great information thx but just want to throw some suspicion on the study that sjowed how much higher the correlation was with poor nutrition n poor mental health as people with poor nutrition are more likely than those without to have bigher stress levels n ACES scores. It's not to day that everyone who grows up in a more wealthy or upper class family wont have suffered any of the ACES issues as physical n sexual abuse is still a thing even in those houses as can be addiction but not to the degree you will find them in poorer communities where you would definitely find more with the mental health issues, addiction m jail and just overall stress that poorer people feel based on always stressing over money n more fear based on where they live..

nobody ever told me that I could take a pill and then I would stop being depressed. If you don't have a mild depression you have to go to therapy and find the right antidepressant for you.
I didn't listen to everything you were talking about but the comments are the worst. I think the Title of the Video is misleading and maybe I'm too offended by it. But I'm so thankful that therapy and antidepressants helped me.
People talking about "god cured my depression" or "diet and sports safed me" just makes me angry 'cause it's disrespectful to people with severe depression.
I'm happy for you that you found your way but it's not the whole truth about depression. Also mild depression can just go away without changing anything.

Ive eead some old doctors like Paracelzus and others, they called this issue 'melancholy', also some catholic old teachings.
I will write this in hope that somebody will find this helpful.
Purity and chastity are esentialls, many brain damages happens beacuse parents were nasty, like they mastrubated, or the worst-they had sex while woman was pregnant, also if they had diseases on their sex organs and other stuff...
They noted that if man in alchocolized state slept with his pregnant wofe that he could kill the baby actually.
Then, i think depression is due to possible SA on children so when they are adults they need to heal from that hurt...
My opinion is that people who have depression are often those who are learned to give themselves out, caregivers, and although it seems like they are wothless they people give so much love and energy that they forgot themselves completely and they become a problem.
Also, I think depressikn cleanse the soul as a suffering, but we should fast and pray so that we escape depression and that we cleanse the bad influence our ancestors gave to us.

I don’t get what he’s saying. Whether it’s caused by lifestyle or not, depression is still the result of a lack of serotonine. Of course, serotonin needs good nutrients and a healthy metabolism to be produced. However, external factors causing anxiety will lower serotonin production. A stressful workplace for example. Death of a relative. In women, hormones play a huge role too. All this to say, of course it’s a chemical imbalance. Diet, exercise, healthy relationships have an impact on it… but even with the healthiest lifestyle, some life events will trigger depression.
