I think the marker of good film music is simply to what extent does it paint a picture beyond what is on the screen? For me, this is so well orchestrated and shows such a deep emotional understanding as to what makes a composition work, that the music alone paints such a vivid image in my mind and really fires my whole imagination and all of my emotions. Truly magnificent work, and oozing with such a rich sense of personality that I find has been largely missing from Hollywood scores for the last two decades. Bravo!
Equal parts expected as unexpected in the best way. It made me smile when you did exactly what I felt needed to happen next, and intrigued me when you went in a direction completely fresh. I'm looking to get into more orchestrating, arranging, and transcribing this year and it is pieces like this that leave me feeling truly inspired creatively. Thank you for your work. Would love to conduct this one day!
Very nice, I liked how you managed to turn an annoyingly overplayed theme into an epic adventure! And the orchestration is also very, very good! Great job mate!
What a masterpiece! I've been following you for quite a while and you keep getting better: this might be my favorite of your pieces. I'd love to see your process with any piece, as I seem to often get tunnel visioned and start so many great things but end up finishing none.
Thank you very much! That’s actually very relatable, I tend to do the same thing. Something I’ve been doing lately that I find very helpful is to make a basic sketch of the whole piece before getting deep into composing it. Just mapping out things like form, themes, length, any significant moments, etc. Helps me to see the big picture from the start!
Really nice work! I especially liked the finale! Could I make a suggestion? I think the trumpets play too high too much of the time. 1) the MIDI doesn't let you hear them well, but at that register, they would be heard anytime they play about an E. Regardless if the player gets tired from playing up there, it just might get repetitive and have the piece "peak" too soon. 2) I heard from a trumpet-composer that it is better to not double trumpet in the upper register, but allow for octaves which will actually help the upper register to play out more! 3) side note, but trumpet players in today's orchestras typically plays in C! Again, really great work!
This is really cool, I especially love variation VI. How do you have the mixer setup for the instrument? Like what instruments do you change the volume from what MuseScore initially sets it as? Also what sounds do you use, just the muse sounds? Or do you have something different?
Thank you! I only used muse sounds for this piece, in terms of mixing I believe I usually increase the volume of oboe(s) and violas since to me they sound a bit muffled. Besides that I just use everything as is!
Hello, I love your work that I discovered a little while ago! But I have a little question, where can I find the score? Like for example in a Musescore format? I really want to play this great piece with my orchestra because it's really incredible!

thank you Trey! thanks for the great suggestions as well, very insightful and will totally keep in mind for future projects - cheers! 🎵
awesome!
Certainly beats Jerry Goldsmith's 'I.Q' score, which was also basically theme and variations on this melody.

Awesome job!! What’s your process in composing? Especially original pieces where you have to create your own melodies
👏👏👏
