To me, Eternal Blue belongs on the top 10 list of metal debut albums.

The title track is the best on here by a mile for me, there's other great moments don't get me wrong but for overall vibes, lovely sounding guitar tone & Courtney legit sounding like an actual angel...it takes the cake.
The Summit & Secret Garden are also criminally underrated too though because so many people will see somebody react to their first Spiritbox song & then immediately feel compelled to make the obligatory/possibly unnecessary "OMG YOU HAVE TO DO HOLY ROLLER NEXT" comment. That track being one which I honestly don't care for much, I'd rate Silk In the Strings higher personally. I think the tempo of Holy Roller is a big part of that, a sort of "breakdown fatigue" perhaps...but Silk In the Strings is quite upbeat & more refreshing to me by contrast.
I much prefer the more melodic side of Spiritbox & when they mix it up with the heavier sections here & there. You should definitely check out more of their stuff though as you can't go too wrong with any of their EP's really, each one will have something that you'll like for sure. 👍🤘 (apologies if this one's a bit long) 😂

Spiritbox had two long EPs before their album - Spiritbox, and then The Singles Collection - all different songs on each. Then came the singles Rule of Nines and Blessed Be, in that order, which are both standalone and don’t appear on any EP or the album. After Eternal Blue there was the 3-track EP Rotoscope (containing Rotoscope, Sew Me Up and Hysteria), followed quite soon by a rather good collaborative track with EDM artist Illenium, called Shivering. Then came the Fear of Fear EP.

My Grandmother passed in August 2020 a few weeks removed from a heart attack, and a few months later Constance came out as a single, and I sobbed like a 3 year old who scraped their knee on the sidewalk. To this day that song is the hardest song to listen to purely because of how much it reminds me of her. It's such a hauntingly beautiful song that encapsulates emotion in a way I've never had a song do for me before.
This album, and band too, has remained in my top 5 best albums ever since it released. There's genuinely no bad song on this album. Production is next level for a debut, and the quality songwriting that each song has is levels beyond where a band that was as young as they were at the time should be. And they've only gotten better.

i haven't heard some of these songs in a hot minute as i got bored of them generally. hurt you is DEFINITELY a song i haven't heard in a while.
i actually saw spiritbox in london on june 13th 2022, it was the first ever time i'd been to a concert. they posted a video of the crowd during hurt you to their twitter, and... yeah. it was a WILD crowd. i had an absolute blast.
EDIT: 10:54 im pretty sure that was actually courtney. it sounds more like her
EDIT 2: 35:58 hearing this part of the song live was the moment i just lost it. i'd already been crying but at this point i was MANIC. this was my favourite part of the whole album for a long time, and it probably still is. you can actually find the performance here, it's called "Spiritbox - Halcyon (Live @ O2 Academy Islington, 13/6/22)"
EDIT 3: constance was actually the first spiritbox song i ever listened to. most people stumbled upon them through holy roller or circle with me, but nah. not me. constance was being spammed in my recommended all the damn time, and when i finally decided to listen to it, it broke me. my grandma passed away from alzheimer's in 2019. in her final years, i never saw her because i buried my head in the sand and couldn't bring myself to see her in the state she was in. to be fair, i was only 17 when she finally passed, but still. i never gave myself a chance to grieve her, not even at her funeral. at her funeral, i cried because my family were crying. not because she was gone. it was only when i first heard constance that i truly cried for her, and cried for myself for not having the guts to see her off. the breakdown at the end is supposed to represent how dementia never has a happy ending, and it's just a mental downward spiral that gets exponentially worse. it's beyond top-tier songwriting.
this was the comment i left on the constance video back in january 2021 when i first heard it:
"My nan died from Alzheimer's 2 years ago now, and seeing this video was actually a surprise. I wasn't expecting it to be about dementia, so this is really something. Love it."
