This is an excellent, concise, comprehensive summary of the condition and treatment options. Well done and thank you! Via my doctor and consultants in NHS it has taken 6 months to learn this, not 6 minutes. Doctors do not seem au fait with the condition as I understand it is fairy rare. The surgeon I consulted just wanted to operate, no discussion on other treatment, but I will insist on conservative treatment first.

Focused shockwave therapy can also be very effective.

So i'm just reading that one cause is flat feet. I grew up basically barefoot (and had flat feet) and whenever I had the chance I would take my shoes off and live barefoot. I never had any foot problems and actually felt like my feet were really strong. Since wearing shoes as an adult and ortho thongs etc, my feet are weaker than when I used to go barefoot. I think balance is handy as shoes help prevent cracked feet and those types of problems along with that.
Maybe barefoot and moisturizer is the answer to feet problems and not wearing shoes. Just my 2 cents.
I got an inury years ago related to improper technique learning muay thai as a beginner, it wasn't related to my mechanics, it was just a technique issue that lead to that injury and the physio 'strongly' recommended ortho thongs etc. I think she was just trying to make money off me, similar to doctors prescribing meds making more money for the big pharma companies.
