  • Today, Craig and Celeste taste a P22 Mango. We first tasted P22 at a mango tasting at Fruitscapes back in 2015. We rated it a 4 out of 5 then. We then tasted P22 a second time at a mango tasting in Punta Gorda - Florida's Best - 3rd Annual Mango Showdown. It was one of our favorite mangos at the tasting last year. This year, we purchased these mangos and had them shipped. I think many of the mangos we purchased were picked a bit underripe and didn't ripen quite as good as they normally would have. Regardless, it was still a great mango - just tasted very different from the other two times we tried it.
We will be tasting both mangos grown at our own farm on the west coast of Florida and from other Florida farms (mainly on the east coast). Mangos taste different when grown in different conditions and when picked at different times/ripened differently. Our opinions of a particular mango are just that - opinions on one specific mango, off of a specific tree, growing in a a specific location. We are not evaluating a variety in general and by no means intend to offend anyone by our less than stellar review of what might be your favorite mango.
Sulcata Grove is our 2 acre, backyard food forest. We grow over 60 varieties of bananas along with many fruit trees. Our videos are family friendly.

I tried them again this year and they need to be really ripe to develop the flavor imo. Delicious!

I bought Craig a fancy Japanese knife for his birthday one year. It gets used occasionally 😊

For reference do you like spicy Thai food? How many mango trees do you have in the ground?

I do enjoy spicy pad Thai. I think we may have 33 mango trees in the ground right now.
