For a good time do this under a sink without turning the water off first!
House build in 1964 owners I think was scared of a nuke cause there's 3 inch of concrete in my wall so laying inverted trying to do this with a newly found roach nest but hey I found our leak roach problem what they was eating started a home remodeling project and I've stretched muscles I haven't used since basic training
lol or crawl under the house and forget to release the pressure in the lines and catch a hot stream of water to the face. We both laughed our asses off for a minute.
This is always fun!
it took literally ten seconds to remove the shark bite fitting from my water heater line with this video. i had just about decided i was going to have to cut the pipe to do it. Thank you so much.
+Lynne Cole thanks for watching
Having tried both the sharkbite tool and your method I prefer to use your method
Me too it's easier.
Great tip, thanks so much - saved a long walk to the hardware store (snowbound with roads closed)
You're welcome
Just saved me from doing with out water till Lowe's opens tomorrow. I used 2 shark bites in a bathroom, one of them was fine, the other was spewing water. Cut the water back off at the road, watched this video, took the shark bite off using his method. Turns out the copper pipe had a cut in it. I cut the pipe below the cut, put the shark bite back on, and it is now leak free. My family of 5 will have running water tonight and in the morning thanks to this guy.... Thank goodness for RUclips and especially the guy that did this vid...…. Right on brother!!!! Liked and subscribed...
This is awesome....glad this helped you. I can separate the fittings easier using this method than with their plastic c shaped tool
thankyou so much! this saved me time and money and a ton of frustration!
Glad it helped!
Handy tip. Just mentioning that if your current fitting is leaking you probably wanna recut and de-burr (sand down) the existing surfaces to eliminate that as the cause of the leak.
Thanks for watching

I just bought new Shark Bite fittings because I had a leak and I cut my line too short while replacing the cold side on my bathroom sink. Then I noticed that I might need 2 more fittings for the hot side but watching your video it took me maybe a minute to get them apart lol thanks because I thought I wasted my money and had to go purchase new ones.
Glad this helped you out!

Thank you so much! I pushed the SharkBite fitting sillcock through the wall and of course it lined right up and locked on to the pipe before it was cut to length. Lol! I was able to use a 5/8 open-end wrench to release it.

Dude, you're a genius. tried it with the shark bite tool with no luck. Used the adjustable wrench and boyaah! Saved my fingers and time. Thank you!! Also that little plastic sleeve is only used on the PEX side. Right?

Thanks for taking the time to make the video! Saved me a trip to Lowe's in the middle of an already busy day.
Two things I discovered; if the wrench isn't applying enough even force, a large zip tie around the pipe will press on the entire perimeter of the disassembly ring. And, if the fitting isn't securely held in place, allowing the wrench to press hard against it, it really helps to hold the pipe as the wrench is pushing on the fitting.
Thanks for the tip about the large (not small) zip tie. I had to resort to a combination of things, so don't know what might have been the clincher: 3-in-1 oil tip from Thomas Sulcar below (didn't do it using official tool), large zip tie (didn't do it), adjustable wrench instead of official plastic tool (didn't do it), and finally hammer the adjustable wrench--that did it!
Excellent video sir! Exactly what I needed. Wish me luck!
Hope this helped you out
Dude THANK YOU
You’re welcome. Glad this helped you w
This video saved my bacon tonight/this morning.
thedungeondelver Glad we were able to help you out
HomeOwnerRepair Cut a valve off last night, was probably 20 gallons of backpressure behind it; had to slap my (only) shark bite valve on it before I flooded a tiled-but-not-grouted floor. Once I got the water drained out safely, I hadda get that valve back off so I could put custom cut wallboard up behind it...y'all saved me $30. :)
thedungeondelver can a push fitting be used again after removing it?
Yes!
Huge help. Thanks. Worked like a charm
You're welcome
Takes a few tries but works
I have an easier time doing it this way than with the tool
Thanks for the video, you really saved the day here.
+Aaron Mcroodle (KapinKrunch) thanks for watching. Have a great holiday season!

I used a sawzall with a 8 TPI blade. Worked fine
Show it who's boss..lol
Sharkbites most often leak because a burr on the copper damaged to O-ring in the fitting. Remember to deburr the copper pipe before inserting it into the sharkbite fitting. Very Important!!! Also align the pipes up so that they are straight with each other to avoid leaks.
Thanks for the added tip!
Thanks for this!!!
Thanks for watching
Major help thank you very much

Many thanks, works great
Thanks for watching
Thank you!
You’re welcome. Hope this out. I find it easier to disconnect them this way instead of using that tiny piece of plastic that they give you in the bag.
Good video, thank you.
Glad you liked it!
Someone asked me, but I don't see the post now, can the Shawk Bite(TM) fittings be reused; I re-used the one I took off, and it wasn't a problem. Still there in my guest bath, still holding on tight. I wouldn't do it more than once tho.
You should be able to reuse them
It depends if it's old and looks questionable I would replace and always look to make sure there are no cuts or burrs on the pipe before you instal the sharkbite or else the coupling won't seat properly.
Great tip, thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks, from one New Englanda, to anotha. :)
Welcome!
