If she had something from the landlord stating that they’re refusing to renew her lease due to that incident, then she probably would have gotten it. She would also have to prove there were no other factors affecting the renewal. She made the choice to move, which is not the same thing as being forced to move due to that event. She also didn’t get a restraining order which weakened her argument that she moved out of fear. Especially since she continued friendly communication with him after.
Especially since he is a military veteran.. they have a lot of mental challenges. Signed a military brat & ex military spouse- both have severe ptsd. They are hell.

Women die every day at the hands of intimate partners and these are warning signs. She should not stay friends with him; even to say hi and bye. She should steer clear of him and never talk to him again.
What do you want the judge to do? The police saw the kicked in door, text message regarding getting a gun, etc... She chose to not get a restraining order, to not have him arrested, etc... The judge told her she should have done both.

If she stopped speaking to him, filed the restraining order, moved, and then sued him her case would have been stronger. I can almost bet that the defendant showed signs of crazy waaay before spades night, and it wasnt the first time he called her out her name. Idk what state (not sure if they mentioned it) but here in NC you do NOT have to buy out a lease if you have a DVPO or Rule 50 B / any order of protection, regardless of what your lease says. I went through this personally and the judge threw the landlords suit out and flat out told them "my hands are tied, plus you testified your tenant had 5 solid years of never late once rental history. Either way my hands are tied, you are not entitled to any money from the date of the protection order until today. You actually owe her money since she left on the 13th of the month and paid a fulls months rent"....so they tried to sue me and I left with a check.

Idk what state (not sure if they mentioned it) but here in NC you do NOT have to buy out a lease if you have a DVPO or Rule 50 B / any order of protection, regardless of what your lease says. I went through this personally and the judge threw the landlords suit out and flat out told them "my hands are tied, plus you testified your tenant had 5 solid years of never late once rental history. Either way my hands are tied, you are not entitled to any money from the date of the protection order until today. You actually owe her money since she left on the 13th of the month and paid a fulls months rent"....so they tried to sue me and I left with a check.
She should've gotten paid for the moving expenses as well....that was completely unfair!!

The way a man treats and speaks to you while he is drunk is the way he feels about you. He deliberately threw the keys in the bushes, threatened her with a gun all over a card game….. Then when he sobered up he became enraged and continued to abuse her. He completely disrupted her life over this. She was smart enough not to stay with him.. she heeded the warnings by looking at the 🚩 🚩🚩Ladies take heed😮. Can you imagine if he became physically abusive with her.. 😥
