  • The opportunity was there so I took it, VERY surprised!
    The 3.50% CO, 1200 HC PPM is 1986-1995 UK emissions MOT standard, a pre 1975 vehicle has no emissions standards requirements in the UK but I tested it anyway to find out

    As I have said many times
    ." Old school, is the best tool ," every time! Classics continue to work better than the faster,slippery, slick, molecule having pieces of today....!

    Some people call it green, some people call it olive drab...
    Or
    Everyone wants to save the world with a eco friendly car.. the jeep already saved the world once, what more could you ask for?

    The engine is the most efficient when lambda ratio is at coefficient 1!!...it mean 1gram of gasoline for 15,3g of air in carburetor mixture is suppose to be the best for jeeps engines.

    Ahh that's only at idle, going down the road is a lot different. It would be like a 60's car or older.

    Yep making a new modern vehicle with all the plastics and crap in it does a lot more damage to the air than just driving some old thing like this around forever.

      provided you don't use leaded Petrol and don't leave it idling in built up areas?

    • @plaid13
      @plaid13 2 года назад +1

      @@gleggett3817 can you even get leaded anymore? Idling dosnt matter Old vehicles when running right dotn really pollute much more than modern ones. But making a vehicle takes an insane amount of power and fuel. Everything from mining the materials to melting them down and forming them. Not to mention transporting the materials around the world through a global market where often plastic will come from one part of the world aluminum from the other side of the world steel from thousands of miles away and batteries back from the other side of the world again. Mine ore in one country melt it down and form it into steel in another then send that to yet another country to form it. Then the same process with plastics and electronics. Every step of the way burning fuel and polluting. VS just maintaining some vehicle that was made decades ago.

      @@plaid13 by idling in traffic i was thinking about NOx emissions which are a direct pollutant rather than energy efficiency issue . As you say the production energy cost is very much offset after a number of years let alone the 70 since jeeps were built.

    Since they're not in production it's better than new vehicles by manufacturing costs to the environment.
