Do you not realize most of the roads in Western North Carolina in fact the majority of the state are being declared closed because of trees down or structural damage caused by the water it's hard to transport supplies if you don't have roads and you also need stable areas in order to use and refuel helicopters
We have tanks and other types of armor vehicles that are made with special tractions for these types terrains-nothing says military equipment can’t be used to help people in these types of situations. Several states affected by this and people not having food or water, should a priority by our gov: not wars.
The lady at the end of this interview absolutely broke my heart. She’s tired, hungry and can’t her any has to go see her kids. Asheville was my home town for years. I loved down to Greenville SC about three years ago. We got our power back on Saturday evening around 6pm in which I was shocked it came back on so soon. I feel grateful and blessed but I feel so sorry for those that haven’t been able to have their power restored. Praying for Hendersonville and Asheville and all surrounding areas ♥️
My two sons and I were going to move back to Asheville in April, but the plans didn't work out. We live in St. Augustine, which is on the east coast of Florida. We dodged 2 bullets, but my heart goes out to all the people whose lives have been devastated by this catastrophic storm. My prayers go out to all of you.

Asheville, just like Charleston SC have terrible flood drains for storms like this. The last time a storm was this destructive In Asheville, North Carolina was back in 1916.

Did anyone check on the senior citizens that live at Bartlett Arms Apartments? I have a 95 year old cousin by the name of Ruth Marshall that lives there I'm worried about her.
You cannot make cellphone calls in this area and when calling the police to make welfare checks on certain citizens their phone line is busy also the roads And bridges have collapsed and people are trapped. Many cannot find or locate or even make a call to check on a loved one. That is why!

Some flooding sure, but flooding the likes or worse than Katrina, no. People had no clue this was going to be the outcome. I’m used to seeing this kind of catastrophic damage among the poor people… You know, the ones in trailers and those been expensive looking shed type homes. It’s shocking to see this kind of damage happening to wealthy people on such expensive real estate. I love the river arts district, I’ve had fun in the past. This is a real shame.

@@reinajalana I agree it’s tragic, but it’s also so unusual. Like many, I recognize the areas of Blowingrock that have been demolished and of course the area around the Biltmore.
It’s just very novel to see such high priced real estate get wrecked. Even the area around blowing rock with its old looking homes is actually very expensive.

Cell service? Where are the cell tower providers will their portable cell towers? You know... the ones they bring in when they are planning and building a new cell tower to capture that revenue stream ASAP? Real journalists would be chasing that story like free margaritas.
