As 1963 turned into 1964, Colette was asked by Prince Omar to move to Wahran to begin a six-month formal courtship. While Ted has second thoughts about marrying Amanda, Pan Am Captain George Broyles draws Maggie deeper into his smuggling operation. Dean learns his recent unsanctioned emergency landing in Haiti has jeopardized his job. Dean warns Colette against jumping into a relationship with Omar too quickly as he prepares to defend himself at a disciplinary hearing. Kate is stunned when Richard arrives at her apartment after being shot while trying to deliver some top-secret microfilm to the CIA. Under pressure from both Amanda and his father to move ahead with an elaborate wedding, Ted turns to Laura for advice and quickly realizes that it's her that he loves. Unable to continue the charade, he tells Amanda their wedding is off. Certain that Laura is the reason, Amanda offers to work out an arrangement to share Ted. Kate is tasked to deliver the microfilm and Richard warns her that her MI6 contact, Roger Anderson, may be a double agent. However, when Anderson stops her on the way to the CIA office and says that Richard is working for the Russians, Kate must decide who to trust. Upon joining Broyles to sell their smuggled jewelry, Maggie realizes it's a setup. After she saves them from being robbed, their emotions boil over. When Laura demands answers about Amanda's offer, Ted admits she's the one he loves. As Dean comes under fire at his hearing, Maggie cuts a deal with the two men who tried to rob her and Broyles. Omar's courtship ends abruptly when an investigation by the Wahrani royal family reveals that Colette's parents were Jewish refugees who died in the Holocaust and that she has a brother. Finally, as Broyles delivers a letter from Pan Am's chairman that saves Dean's job, Kate sets up Anderson to be arrested for being a Soviet spy.
From Season 1 Episode 14 '1964' - Life has changed on a dime for the crew of Pan Am. Since President Kennedy's assassination and as New Year's Eve approaches for the start of 1964, everyone's lives are hurtling towards new starts: Colette is caught up in a whirlwind courtship with a foreign prince, and Dean is still kicking himself over losing her; Amanda and Ted's wedding plans are racing forward, thrilling his family, but making him more nervous by the day; Kate's spy supervisor, Richard, is shot and she tries to figure out whether he or someone else is a double agent -- He warns her that the first person to ask her how he is doing will be the double agent, but the first person who does is the one person she never imagined; and Amanda makes Laura a startling offer. Meanwhile, Broyles puts Maggie in a life-threatening position that sparks a major attraction to him -- Laura forges on, still loving the man she can't have, and Dean is put on trial for the decisions he made during the Haiti landing.
