This was at the 200th anniversary of The Staff Band of the Norwegian Armed Forces (Forsvarets Stabmusuikkorps) concert! Angelina at 12 years old with a commanding stage presence! Her vocals are immaculate especially when you hear a live performance and this was from a cellphone as no other cameras were allowed! This entire concert was outstanding and the songs are from her album It’s Magic! She knocked this out of the park, what a professional! See the respect the band gives her. There are numerous behind the scene videos of her rehearsals with the band and they actually did some special things for her 12th birthday! 🇳🇴🇺🇸
They gave her that very special microphone that she still sometimes uses today. It is a Neumann TLM 103 Condenser Microphone. Many of her best covers were made using that gifted microphone from Staff Band of the Norwegian Armed Forces.
@@duanejohnson6271 They actually gave her a TLM 102 as a birthday present. Then she switched to a 103 a couple of years later. They're very similar mics. The 102 is smaller with bright finished "collar". The 103 is a little larger with a satin finished collar. She sometimes uses the 103 with a suspension mount. If you go back and check her old videos, you can see the difference. But, you do have to look close... Much was written about her holding the 102 backwards when she 1st got it. But, shes also held the 103 backwards as well on 2 or 3 occasions. She must have her reasons. They're both clearly directional mics...😊

Absolutely EPIC performance. The godfather of soul is likely smiling and glad to hand over the crown to the new goddaughter of soul, Miss Angelina Jordan only 12 years old. Love your stank face reaction, welcome to the crowd! Kills it and ends with a polite curtsy. The contrasts are just stunning. Agree this is quintessential Angelina😮😮❤❤.
And then we have "Cry me a river" from the same consert. Just as amazing. This band and Kork are two of Norways most respected orchestras. Both of them took young Angelina under their wings and as we saw here, they recognized and respects her talent.❤
Boudy, I fully agree a child should not be able to understand the meaning of mature songs, or able to convey the proper emotions but Angelina did it song after song after song.
I believe at first listen to a song, she understands the story and instantly knows how to put her own spin on it and in my opinion, usually making it better.
What I love about this performance (aside from her unbelievable vocals and respect for James Brown) is the utter disconnect between the soaring belts, power, and technique-and her complete physical relaxation. Angelina is gently swaying with the rhythm while she’s destroying the conductor and the audience. She is in absolute control here-at 11 or 12, I think.
Angelina gives us perfect authenticity for another genre. I think other singers ask themselves if they can perform the version that’s in their head. Angelina knows that even her incredible arrangements like this one are no worries. And she’ll sing it similarly, but differently, the next time-no problem.
Agreed. Alhough I am always gobsmacked by this particular performance, my favorite is actually the one from her performance at the Kongsberg Jazz Festival at approximately the same time. Just a personal preference, they are both incredible for any performer, any age.

She takes this James Brown classic 'effortlessly' into the stratosphere. Then you listen to her
go into a super low 'contnuous' register to perform 'How Great Thou Art', which not even Elvis
sang in a continuous low register. I don't believe there has ever been a singer who could do
something like this....................and the girl hasn't even reached adulthood yet.
This concert was the album release concert for their album, "It's Magic," recorded over 2 days in Nov 2017 (11 yo) & released June 2018 (12 yo). The conductor knew what to expect from her rehearsals & from recording the album, but he didn't know what to expect when she goes "live" with an audience & she turns on the afterburners! Remember the Prime Minister & the Monarchy declared Angelina Norway's National Treasure when she was 8 yo. I know the Prime Minister was there for the concert, since there are videos of her getting Angelina to sign her copy of the album. I'm not sure whether the Crowned Prince was there as well. Just another day at the office for AJ.

Absolutely phenomenal Angelina is so awesome, in 2018 I was visiting my brother who worked in Oslo, he was fortunate to enough to have tickets to see this concert,I had heard of Angelina before and knew she had won Norway Got Talent, so I was intrigued to see her live, When Angelina at 12 years old performed (It’s A Man’s World) she blew my mind with this performance, I’ve been a dedicated Angel ever since that day, I also attended both of Angelina’s Las Vegas concerts on the 29th February, Angelina’s stage presence was incredible her live performance phenomenal, I’m in ore of her amazing talent, she is so special and one of the most talented artists I’ve ever seen or heard, great reaction thanks 🙏

Angelina is so relaxed , giving this powerful rendition as though it's a walk in the park! Gently swaying from side to side, as cool as you like. On the other hand James Brown would have been gasping with sweat running down his face.
Angelina had worked with the band for quite some time, but just for this performance the first clarinet got a little carried away with himself, starting a power contest with Angelina, she took the challenge and left him trailing...
The thing that hit me was the reaction from Angelina at the end when the conductor got the band to stand, she looked around wondering why, the calmly put the mike back in the stand and gave a second curtsy.
Simply mind blowing...
Oh, ten days later she was opening the show at the Quincy Jones Birthday concert at the O2 arena in London, just another day in the office...
Outside, live, imposing sound from band, yet Angelina shines! The girl with 1000 voices. We sat in the fourth row in Las Vegas .. seeing and listening to her live was truly at another level

Not just the 'stank face' from the conductor, but she literally rocked him backwards, catching himself before regaining balance. Boxer DREAM of landing a blow that does that. And what's incredible about this - he's been with Angelina for at least a year on various music, and they HAD to rehearse this for some time. He KNOWS what she can do but, obviously, she blew his expectations out.
Along with nominating this one video, I'd also point out that THIS is one of the worst audio-quality video that we've had of AJ. Yet, you're right - this is THE ONE that does all of that.

The same year as this concert with the Norwegian army orchestra, she also participated in a concert at a jazz festival. She is accompanied by a super good band, especially the guitar with a very nice little solo. I can't wait for her to focus once again on this emblematic piece. You will notice that the arrangement is different and that she adapted her interpretation and made different choices. Boudy! She is definitely stank face worthy with this song . I can't quite remember if you ever reacted to I'd Rather Go Blind , if you havn't , mate have a go . In my opinion, Queen B ( reigned for many years with this song ) was dethroned by our Priness of Jazz at the age of 12. Angelina ,sitting on her blue couch ,christening her brand new Neumann microphone (given to her by the Norwegian band that worked on her Its Magic Album_ could even be this band. You'd have to check with the Administrators ); and giving the song with more soul and grit than you've ever heard in your life.

You are absolutely right with your "military": it is the staff brassband from the Norwegian army. They have done several collaborations with Angelina, including all instrumentals on one of her cd's. To me this is one of Angelina's very best performances ever (although she is always very special to listen and watch to anyway).
We adore her so much but people in the music trade take it to an even higher level. They are in total awe of what she can do vocally and artistically especially when they consider her age (12 years old)! Boudy, when you get an opportunity to see her perform live it will go something like this. When she first appears on center stage, before she sings a note, everyone in the audience will be in tears or crying. People in the audience seeing or hearing her for the first time will be wondering, "What in the world is going on?" Well, by the end of the Concert they will understand. Not completely but they will be on their way to becoming full fledged 'angels'. Boudy, I say this often and I mean it with all my heart, she is truly a Messenger of Love.

The band is the Norwegian Military staff band. Angelina recorded an album with them when she was about 11 or 12 (sorry, too lazy to look it up). They are a very respected orchestra. 😎

The way the conductor was caught off guard is impressive considering that he is quite familiar with her singing this song since she recorded it with this band before for their album " It's Magic" when she was 11 . I had heard that the band gifted her the Neumann microphone that she recorded so many of her songs at 12-13 yrs old.

I was blown away as well, when i saw this clip - in fact, this one was the first i ever saw from Angelina. i followed the rabbit hole and watched "i put a spell on you". After that, i wanted to see ALL. I seriously experienced a shortage in my brain - what i saw, didn´t correspond to the voice i listened to, it felt like a glitch, lol

And Angelina has obviously practiced this with this Royal Norway band and still she shocks them to the core. It has been said that Angelina, when she rehearses with a band it is for them to get it right for her and she always holds something back for the live performance as demonstrated by the conductors shock and amazement at her ending prowess. She is the gift that is only unwrapped in her live performances.

The conductor had never heard her like this in rehearsals and was overwhelmed by her live-beast mode. The same goes for the clarinet player (with glasses) at 1:23 when she starts.

i'm absolutely agree with you and thumbs up! i followed her since she was 8 years old and this performence out of the blue hit's me really hard. only one thing has changed, it's the collor of her eyes. in her book you can see where this ambition comes from. it's not only the barefoot story what connected both.
