Best method to dig in clay is to use a jack hammer with spade attachment. Much, much faster, and the biggie - much less effort. Most of your work will then be moving the broken clay out.
Nice work Lex. Like the natural hair colour too - suits you! Sorry if you’ve covered it, but how come you’re using single planks for concrete forms instead of some ply shuttering and pour more at once?
I'm mixing the concrete in a bucket so part of the reason is that it breaks it down into manageable chunks. Also spreads the cost over several weeks. I realize it's not the most efficient method but works for me 😅
@@LexsBudgetBunkerBuild You gotta do what you think is right for you, but given how much effort is required to secure and level each row of planks, I can’t help but think if you could double or triple the height of those planks by using say 500mm of plywood as the form, then the only other variable is doing twice as much concrete?
Progress is progress.
Another good bit of digging lex. The shaft is the hardest. The tunnelling will be so easy for you.

@jera333 I don't have a jack hammer and they're pretty expensive here. Wouldn't it just get stuck in the wet clay anyway?
Dang episode 50 congratulations you have come so far keep it up 💪🏼🤙🏼🍻cheers!
@@Cryptonite_Rick cheers Rick and thank you for the continuing support, I really appreciate it mate.
Good job, mate! I like how sturdy yours is, looking at making one for myself. It's very helpful watching you! Keep it up, and good luck.
@@dmfleming Do it! Seriously it's an interesting and challenging hobby 😀
steady progress. Rome wasn't built in a day; they were too busy eating pizza 😂
I appriciate your videos, great work!
I recently had to dig through a bit of clay+hardcore mix to install drainage. I do NOT envy you right now xD
Good health to you. Keeping busy, be it work or play . Keep the doctor's hands from playing with the devils apples or something.
@@crazygeorgelincoln LOL I like that :-) 😀 As much as I respect doctors I do everything I can not to need them.
