It’s an octave up fuzz! I found this out by rolling off the volume on my bass and playing above the 12th fret, it ended up doing that synth-like thing that those gnarlier octave fuzzes like the Lizard King do
Not that I own one, but the earthquaker devices Plumes is a favorite among bass players… I spoke with one of the dudes at EQD at length about bass pedals and he said that was every bass players favorite that works there. That pedal does sound great on bass. Now, fast forward a little and they come out with the Blumes pedal… I was so excited to hear that they came out with a bass version but when I heard it, I was disappointed because it sounded blown out. This demo reminds me of that. I don’t own either of these DBA pedals but I think the fuzz war would and does sound better for bass. I can’t understand why some companies think that blown out and fuzzier is supposed to sound better for bass. I do own the earthquaker devices Cloven hoof and believe that is thee best pedal for bass so far. Yes, it is fuzzier than the hoof but works great for bass. AND, you can manipulate your volume knob on the bass for more of an overdrive sound by turning it down… like a guitar player would with a good fuzz pedal. I dunno…. I’m not hating on DBA but I was excited about this pedal until I heard the demos on bass. Besides the cloven hoof, who makes a good fuzz for bass? I’m curious about your thoughts, people. I own a ton of pedals and always come back to the cloven hoof…. On another note, I use an orange OB1-300 combo amp with the same combo underneath minus the head in that one. I gotta say, that amp can emulate just about any pedal out there and the gain on that amp blends very well with the rest of the band. Just my ¢2. Great demo! ❤ thoughts??
Fuzzlord mf4, muff style fuzz. Fuzzlord fu2 octave fuzz, i love em. I d like to try the Albatross fuzz, also the black arts toneworks Pharaoh or similar!
Daredevil Shrineburner is based on a Triangle muff but with tons more low end on tap, works phenomenally for bass. Vaderin Radio Dirtman (clone of the EQD Dirt Transmitter) also works really well if you want something that does some really cool gated fuzz stuff bc of the bias knob and has a ton of low end once you sweep the tone knob even to 9 o’clock
Mix/blend knobs are just kicking the can down the road. If you want strong coffee with a lot of milk by adding a lot of milk you necessarily weaken the coffee thus not having ‘strong coffee’. See what I mean? If you add your clean signal to retain bass you lose the dirt/fuzz necessarily. The best bass fuzz pedals have the low end retained in the tone along with the distortion/fuzz/od. The blend knob can be fun by having it at the end of the dirt chain to allow the previous tone to blend with the final pedal.
bass war's fuzz tone seems to be more spitty/gnarly. love it.

are you saying these pedals lose too much low end when fully wet?
