@@letstalk140 how’s it going to get ugly. Simmons has zero leverage and any squeaking he does can quickly be rebutted by saying “zero points in how many 4th quarters?”
The leverage the Simmons camp has is the Sixers have a superstar who might as well be Mr. Glass and they can’t just hold Simmons when that limits the potential of their team. They can’t waste a year of Joel’s prime with this Simmons issue.
They don’t have to give up the whole season just a portion and the trade deadline at the latest. Ben gives up money when he sits. There have been reports that he would lose over a mill just to miss training camp alone before games even start
@@emjay-gaming you give up part of the season and suddenly you’re an 6-8 seed in a tough Eastern conference with no guarantee waiting to the trade deadline will get you a better deal. So yes a million dollars for missing camp. For a guy that was #1 overall which is a immediate $45 million contract. That doesn’t include off court income for advertising deals, shoe deals, camps, investments. A million isn’t gonna hurt him at all. He could sit out till the trade deadline at the cost of probably $10 mil? He wants out enough he could front that easily.
But how does that situation leverage Simmons? How does that help him dictate where he goes? This man has 4 years left on his deal he has little to no leverage at all. The 6ers will definitely be worse without Simmons. It’s delusional to think otherwise. I still think they should make him suffer for trying to force a trade with 4 years left on contract.
The lack of mentioning the Toronto Raptors as a possible trade destination is criminal... not saying the Raps should trade for him, but there is more options and its a better scenario for the Sixers and Ben.
Right, Simmons was as accomplished as any of those dudes at this stage of his career. Multiple all star appearances, all nba defender. None of those guys were champions or won mvps, so I didn’t understand that argument
I would hate to see Simmons waste a second of Embiid’s prime but at the same time the 30 for 30 based on Simmons sitting out for 4!years then retiring would be amazing.
It's not that straight forward. Yes, the 76ers need to maximise Embiid's prime however, a subpar haul in return for Simmons will create a ceiling for that teams potential that's not high enough to challenge the Bucks or the Nets - who the East will run through. They are already over the Luxury Tax threshold. Morey has to extract as much value as he can from Simmons otherwise this whole house of cards come crashing down. You can argue that it has already collapsed but from the 76ers perspective that isn't true or at least they have to do everything they can to make sure that it doesn't become true. There are several trades which might work but would have to involve a 3rd team. CJ + Brogdon to the 76ers, Simmons to the Trailblazers, and Seth, Maxey, and Covington to the Pacers. Picks would probably be needed to make things work for Indiana and Portland - This is the best trade I've seen floated around simply because Philly get a PG in Brogdon and SG in CJ who can replicate Simmons production but they both have much lower potential/ceilings than Simmons. Portland gets Simmons who'll improve them defensively and has a ton of upside, also gives them a 2nd ball handler, and they can afford to give up some offense. Indiana are going nowhere so give them some picks, Maxey is a young prospect and both Seth and Covington are solid players. Everybody's happy.
You are generalizing this WAY to much.sure that’s something the 76ers care about but first off him doing that will turn him into the MOST toxic player in NBA history and I imagine will hurt his chances of EVER signing a significant contract ever again because let’s be honest no team wants to deal with such a ridiculously huge ego, especially when he thinks he’s a super star when he’s an all star at best. Then in addition to that, no WAY the NBA let’s him just sit out a season without SEVERE punishment. The CBA isn’t just rules for owners and teams to follow it has things that players need to follow. Ben may have had some leverage shortly after the playoffs but everything he has said has pissed away that leverage.
"I don't understand why teams feel the need to capitulate (to big name players who are unhappy)" Just review the Kawhi, AD, Kyrie, Butler, and Harden situations to answer that question. Nowadays, NBA teams have basically no choice but to capitulate because all the biggest names talk to each other and decide/agree to not go somewhere if they feel it's a bad situation. Thereby making it exponentially harder to get free agent talent if you're trying to win right away. That's why Embid is doing damage control now by saying nice things about Simmons. Embid wants to win now and doesn't want to be seen as the reason why Philly is a mess. The craziest part of the Simmons mess to me is, a guy who is grossly overpaid and won't shoot, is apparently good enough for his unhappiness to justify a team being untenable as a title contender for the next 5 plus years. If the goal is to win with Embid, the solution to this mess is trade Simmons for the best "10 cent for a dollar" deal available to save team chemistry, overpay at the trade deadline for a rental, and try and fix the remaining talent gap in the next draft somehow. It probably won't work, but the alternative is trade Embid and start the process all over again.

Man this is such a shame. Ben and jo have the potential to win a championship right now. Ben just needs to humble up and get out of his own head. They were the number 1 seed in the east for a reason, Ben doesn’t need to become an offensive force. Last year it was Joel who was struggling to be aggressive, he scored a duck egg against Marc gasol. This year its Ben. If those two can get on the same page and both be aggressive at the same time, no one in the league could stop them
The reason they were the number one seed last year was because Brooklyn was injured all year and most teams because of covid restrictions were just trying to make it to the playoffs healthy and unscathed. Not even Sixers fans believed we were the best team in the East last year. It was just a really weird year where Brooklyn absolutely didn't care where they got seeded because they knew that they could probably beat anyone if they were healthy.
The clutch angle is the biggest moot point Barkley tried to make…the Pelicans got an absolute haul for 1 YEAR of Anthony Davis…what was clutch supposed to do? Tell Boston “Davis wants to play for you guys” and then he doesn’t resign bc it turns out he just wants to be in LA?
I actually dissagree on that "Ben can't improve his value" take. If he does come back and gives them, lets say, consistant 16-9-9 and his usual elite defence, people will eventually let go of the ridicule and be reminded of his potential contribution. It might even get aome teama thinking they could get more out of him than the sixers could. If he plays to his 100%, Philly (and also Ben) has all to gain IMO.
The problem is he’s trying to learn how to play point guard, 16, 9 and 9 is good. It’s not good when your starting guard can’t shoot and doesn’t play well with your best player. He has to go. Asap

Philly gets a couple of years of a three time champion, Olympic Gold medal winner, a former DOY....to win immediately. The Dubs get an elite 25 year old defensive player who fits their youth movement
Simmons for Harden straight up. Nets get much needed defense for Giannis and a possible finals matchup vs LA, Philly gets much needed perimeter scoring and Harden reunited with morey. I know this will never happen but it would be an interesting trade.
Philly can't afford for Simmons to come back after all that's been said and done. It has to be Sacramento or someone like that who’s in 8-11 purgatory.

GSW get younger at their point forward position and try and make a change to get back in the postseason with Steph and Klay and Simmons while Philly don't take a massive step back on defence or from a passing perspective as Draymond can fill that.
Also you’re right about Ben losing that money but he also is about to start his contract extension and he’s gonna get half his $147 million before a fine is even levied.
The lack of mentioning the Toronto Raptors as a possible trade destination is criminal... not saying the Raps should trade for him, but there is more options and its a better scenario for the Sixers and Ben.
I’m not sure if you understand crimes
Simmons has accomplished more than Webber had when he was traded.
Right, Simmons was as accomplished as any of those dudes at this stage of his career. Multiple all star appearances, all nba defender. None of those guys were champions or won mvps, so I didn’t understand that argument
Ben Simmons has all the leverage he needs. The next 4 years of Embiids career.
Ben may have had some leverage shortly after the playoffs but everything he has said has pissed away that leverage.
kings with webber is a prime example of building around a disgruntled superstar
"I don't understand why teams feel the need to capitulate (to big name players who are unhappy)"
Just review the Kawhi, AD, Kyrie, Butler, and Harden situations to answer that question.

San Antonio?!
Asap
To me that’s not “rebuilding value” that’s just doing what he’s already done in the regular season. They’re not getting crazy offers no matter what.
He's too much of a coward to ever show his face in Philly again. He's using the doc interview as an excuse to hide the fact that he's too much of a coward to come back here. @@Kirbystare1992 Absoulutly right. I just think his current market value is now below his actual value, due to the abysmal atlanta series. Philly has no choice. The ridiculous asking price is the stumbling block. Trade him to the Dubs for Draymond Green and an unprotected swap of 2022 first round pick. Philly gets a couple of years of a three time champion, Olympic Gold medal winner, a former DOY....to win immediately. The Dubs get an elite 25 year old defensive player who fits their youth movement
Sixers get fleeced in that scenario. No thank you!
What are you smoking? Draymond is no longer a very good basketball player and the pick swap will be a late rounder
To be fair, I got "tougher talk" from grade school teachers than Doc Rivers saying..."I Don't know".
Simmons for Harden straight up. Nets get much needed defense for Giannis and a possible finals matchup vs LA, Philly gets much needed perimeter scoring and Harden reunited with morey. I know this will never happen but it would be an interesting trade.
I like that trade, I think both sides would be taking a risk but I agree with your benefits.
Philly can't afford for Simmons to come back after all that's been said and done. But no team's trading for a 6'10" head case who's afraid to shoot, doesn't want to get better and won't look in the mirror. As crazy as it sounds, the Sixers might just have to cut him and count their losses. There's no way this ends well.

I think that’s what makes a trade so hard, I’m a Pistons fan and don’t want him. Not because he wouldn’t make us way better, he would! But what are you doing with him as your best guy? Bad teams don’t want to take him before the emoni draft and good teams probably feel better about the skill set of their tradeable pieces. It has to be Sacramento or someone like that who’s in 8-11 purgatory.
Ben has leverage because of one single thing! Joel!! Neither the Sixers nor Joel can afford for to waste a prime season while basically half of the cap is holding out for frivolous reasons. His representation will begin speaking out on his behalf and they'll ultimately lose both of them. They need to trade Ben now before it ever gets to that point.

The most philly option would just let him ride the bench for four years and getting booed every single night by everyone in the arena. Like fuck it if you don’t wanna play there are other dudes on the roster who will take the shots you weren’t/can’t/don’t take. Enjoy that 14th roster spot Ben. Maybe he’ll figure out a jumper at some point. Or maybe it’ll be the most tragic waste of potential in nba history unrelated to death or injury, at this point I’m over it. You have a contract for the next 4 years. You signed your name on that and agreed to the stipulations within.
I'm hearing Simmons to Utah for Joe Ingles bogi and 2 1st round picks
Nah joe ingles for ben simmons sounds unreasonable
@@letstalk140 Why would the best Aussie in the league be traded for Simmons
Bill aren't you and others in the media who said the lakers got killed In the ad deal? Now it was a bad deal cause they had better offers lol.
U can't make this shit up. The media is the one job u can absolutely suck at with zero consequences
@@jmar5127 facts and they just move on like it was never said
How is Clutch being dragged here?
Odd conversation.
The Spurs are a good fit for him. If y’all saw his documentary you would know how Ben is. Sixers trade Simmons to Spurs for Lonnie Walker, Keldon and A first.
How is he?
Lol for who ? 😭
No way, no how Sacramento is trading Haliburton for Simmons. Let alone Haliburton AND Hield. That's not happnening.
We all know GM Morey only wants to get Damion Lillard for Ben Simmons. Heck - he probably could have gotten James Harden if only Morey didn’t just left Houston on bad terms. Everything else is just noise.
Ben don't love the game he loves the lifestyle more and what it brings ... aint no one can ever tell me he loves the game , 4 years and u still the same when u came in the league .. this what happens when u give money to a player who hasn't proven shii yet
I said the same thing...last year..!! He wont dedicate himself to improving, so fuck him...
So we just ignoring the most obvious and realistic trade of CJ for Ben? Ben to PDX is the most obvious choice. Why does nobody respect the Blazers? smh
Blazers aren’t an aggressive team. They’re completely satisfied with staying mediocre but either way, Philly wants more than CJ.
CJ the best package but we’ll see.. Get Dame to talk to Ben.
No way with San Antonio. We already had Richard Jefferson who popovich spent a whole summer with trying to teach him how to shoot. I imagine this guy would retire coach
Simmons is like westbrick. They are part of the brick mason union.
All I can say is, thank God I am NOT a Sixer’s fan.
PLAYERS WIN IN THE END
in modern sports, lebron has showed every player, you are the product, you have the power.
Simmons has too options, show up, play 5 mins, pull a kawhi
option 2 - show up poop all over the team with poor play
the only way Klutch power wains is if they don’t get clients. Has nothing to do with Lebron. Klutch is literally doing their job.
Klutch has so much power that this only hurts the Sixers in negotiating with free agents. But sounds like Klutch already had a grudge against the Sixers.
@@jayyyy0284 I don’t see how or why they would have a grudge. It looks like agent is looking out only for it clients without any concern for the team, as they should.
@@williamjackson5421 all rumors but said Klutch didn’t present 76er offers to Noel (current lawsuit). Also said Klutch steered LBJ away from signing with 76ers when he was potentially interested. Agents play a huge factor with teams and teams do their best not to ruin their reputation as well.
Weird how nobody is talking about Toronto. Siakam, OG, Fred Van Vleet, Gary Trent Jr. Morey needs to stop being Morey and do a reasonable trade, and Toronto would get it done. Simmons brought it up on Ryens podcast and Ryen ignored it like a covid diseased hooker. Somethings up.
Everyone saying the 76ers can just chil and not trade him now is stupid as fuck. You have Embiid and you have to keep him happy. Dump Ben for what you can and let Joel go ball out this year. Some star will want to play with Embiid so God damn quick.
Not bringing Ben back is what keeps Embiid happy
Finally somebody made sense!!! Yes the sixers need to figure something out by the trade deadline, however they do not have to rush!! Ben has 4yrs left and no leverage!!
Lmao wait till training camp shit about to get ugly
His leverage is he is toxic to the team. Don’t underestimate that.
@Reem Raider they won't be paying him if he refuses to report. And since he's the biggest coward to ever play any pro sport he won't report. Philly fans will make him absolutely cry if he tries to take the floor at the Wells Fargo center. He's far too arrogant to ever allow himself to be put in a situation where literally 25,000 people are all pointing and clowning on him simultaneously.
Philly tanked for years to be in this position. I dont think they have as much leverage as everyone says. Embiid is the best centre in the league but his injury history is worrisome. Sixers need to make a deal soon while the window is wide open.
I being saying Sacramento day one for Fox!
Send him to Minnesota and get DLo. I don't how will it work but it's the best 'punishment' for him. No winning culture, cold, etc. Plus, he can play 2k and watch the playoffs with KAT. Lol
Ben Simmons needs to be traded to the Wizards for Bradley Beal, and we'll throw a low level guy in.
It's unfair to ask Bradley Beal to go through a 4th rebuild. Its a match made in heaven.
The only problem is that the wizards have to have ben Simmons
