I'm an east coaster, but this is my problem with the Six Flags in NJ... They think screaming in your ear = scary. I went to the Six Flags in Georgia for the first time and I was totally creeped out. The actors did such an amazing job. The fact that they just stared at me and followed me quietly was the creepiest. I didn't even notice one of them until the last minute when I saw them in the corner of my eye, and that was the scariest thing ever because I barely had any time to run before they caught up to me. In NJ they'll scream before they get to you. That's no fun. Also, NJ Great Adventure's live shows SUCK. Please stop with the playback and let the actors sing live. At the GA one I went to, I kept going back to the live shows and it was a different experience every time, even though it was the exact same show, because they were able to improv since they had to sing it live. I do love the monster march they do in NJ though.
