Hey Emmet, so love this -it's going on my next recording thanks to you pulling out this chestnut. Your version is phenomenal .The beginning ballad section is gorgeous, then WHAM !
EMMETT IS THE FINEST JAZZ PIANIST PLAYING TODAY. OVER THE LAST DECADES WE’VE HAD THE GREATS AND EACH WAS TALENTED IN A PERSONAL STYLE. EMMITT HAS HIS BUT HAS LEARNED AND INVENTED CHORDS AND PLAYS SOLOS IN A COMBINATION THAT SWINGS AND CHALLENGES THE LISTENER. BRAVO!
There are lots of fine jazz pianists playing today! I think Emmet is like the Oscar Peterson of the scene today - at the intersection of many styles, a synthesis of many sounds, but bringing his own flare to it that is undeniably fun and easy to listen to.
He’s really great, but Sullivan Fortner, Jason Moran, Brad Mehldau and countless others are improvising at this level and I would say with a more distinct character. No need to pick a single player as ‘the finest’.
Dude the feel change in the rhythm section for Trane's solo goes so damn hard. And Trane's entrance line makes my face scrunch like i just opened a container of spoiled milk. Edit: lol this is the first time I've posted a comment on the wrong video. But Patrick's solo also gives me spoiled milk face
@@gregdolecki8530 that’s just incorrect. Hearing him in person will show you that. He’s got his own sound and doesn’t sound like a carbon copy of someone else which is increasingly more common these days
I really like Jeremy Pelts playing here, somehow feels like Emmet’s comping style during Jeremy’s solo doesn’t fit as well, but Emmet & Tivon styles complement each other
The trumpet played it once and implied he was going to do it again. Emmet was listening, as is a pianist’s job. It’s a skill you pick up with experience
The guy on the couch working with his laptop is impeccable 😂
His name is Mr . PC though ...... ;)
I'm sure he's really swinging inside.
the camera angle with the drummer is like mainly focusing on him too lol
😂😂😂
Cos why wouldn’t you…?
Groovin High lick at 5:04 is actually so impeccable to me
Nothing beats the Emmet's Place comments for figuring out the source of the quote you can't quite place. This would've bothered me for days. Thanks!
I noticed that on my first listen too 😅. Was hoping someone else would hear it too.
A little miracle happend at 6:10 !
Emmet such an astute accompanist
Patrick would be proud!
Not a miracle, it's called listening and super common language.
@@AndrewJanusson L + ratio + you fell off + touch grass
You can actually hear Jeremy set it up at 6:08 !
Playing a gig in a couple hours and was debating putting this on the set list.
Guess the inspiration is there!
amazing performances by all! Emmet’s YT channel should be considered international cultural heritage! What a way to start the weekend!🎉
solo is killing, thank you rhythm section for laying it down like that, especially bass 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Oh love that gorgeous open…
I opened for Tivon when he came to my city recently. His band is great and he’s the real deal. Pelt is out of this world as always
Fuck. Reuben is just the funkiest. That was awesome.
I usually don't love muted trumpet sound but this was really great
Oh and 6:08 WOW
caught that too, and seemingly no reaction
I call 6:08 sorcery , witchcraft and magic !
Bro never heard miles Davis? 😂
@@jur2823 it's an unpopular opinion of mine, but I don't really love Miles Davis's sound... I haven't listened thaaat much either though
@ yeah without the mute his sound wasn't great lmao 😂 always loved his muted playing though
A fabulous driving version of Four..!
Thanks that was a great performance and a well filmed live video! Everyone played wonderfully
Woahhhh!!!! AMAZING!!!

I don't agree at all.
@@edwardjons8684 or bro can just have his very own opinion.
Jazz at its finest! Thanks guys.
It would be cool to see Eric Marienthal at Emmet’s place!
Eric Marienthal on a Chick Corea tune on here would be amazing.
@@kylej-e7963 It would be so dope.
Drum is stunning
Tivon.....WOW!
Love Nathan Fielder vibing out on the couch!
Amazing talents! Go go go!
Oh my God there are no words to describe this wonderful performance ! what a band !
Anyone else hearing the redman in tivons playing? Killin’
Bolivia lick at 3:45 is so nice:)
What?
I caught that too! Imma have to steal that on this tune
What is the bolivian lick?
Pelt for President!
Saw Jeremy live not too long ago, just phenomenal horn player!
I think this is byfar one of my favorite performances ive seen on the channel, awesome work by everyone
Great rendition, tp so tasteful, and some serious Eric Dolphy vibes in a very personal ts solo, bravo
Fantastica version, muchachos. Felicitaciones.
A really fantastic set!!!!
tivon is such a great player and a realy nice person!
Yeah !! You're the Best !! So groove and amazing music !! Bravo !!

Great rendition! Bravo ❤️

favorite of mine, this tune!!
One of my fav standards, this is great
Slipping that tadadaDat TADAAA in the ending was wildddd😂🎉
Emmet Cohen channeled McCoy Tyner at 4:02 onward.
I like it a lot great group to listen too
IDOLOS CRACKS QUE CAPOS AGUANTE EL JAZZ . ME ENCANTA ESTE TEMA CUATRO
Reuben just killing it down there
DAT BASS YES
うしろで黙々とノートPC叩いる人がいたり、ソロ取ってる演奏者の前を平気で横切ったり(なんで演奏者がどかなきゃいけないんだよ?)とか、いろいろ不思議なセッションですねWWW
As it should be. Thank you all.
tivon has gotta be one of the best sax players in the world
And he is
Agreed
His tone lacks any color and does not project. It's a "no" for me.
@@gregdolecki8530 that’s just incorrect. Hearing him in person will show you that. He’s got his own sound and doesn’t sound like a carbon copy of someone else which is increasingly more common these days
@@BernellJonesII It's a dull tone. I'll pass.
Tivon seems to me a bit like a new James Moody…sounding great. I chatted to James in London back in the mid 80s..
FINALLY!!!
everything they touch turns to gold
the beginning is just the end of groovin high but with many extra steps lol
Wow!
6:05 pent up house
TIVON IS SOOOOO HIGH!!!!!!
Yes
Demasiado🎷🔥
Didn’t know potter could play drums
Yer a drummer, arry!
@@danielvanwinden9672 why is that funny or witty?
@@jlevinson14 idk, but ur mum liked it 7 times

If one can play quidditch, they surely can play drums.

Wonderful music! Just wondering what Mr Bean was doing there typing on a laptop on the couch hiding himself behind the base. 😘
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
emmet peguense una vueltita a chile
damn they was tippin
SuperSax!!!!!
Jesus
I want to see stuart mack on trumpet 🐬
Starts out slowly in concert D, I think, but then they go to Eb, the normal key.
I think you’re right!
Never mind the jazz - get Tivon's trousers. Please write a tune "Tivon's pantaloons".
nathan for you on the laptop??
😃😃😃👍
Nice, a romanticized opening of the tune...
Harry Potter on the drum
nice living room
Fabu🎉
Starring everyone's favorite hair 😂
Rueben is so killer
Simple, if I see Tivon, I click
Was 6:08 a quote I don't know or they just went to the same spot spontaneously?
The trumpet played it once and implied he was going to do it again. Emmet was listening, as is a pianist’s job. It’s a skill you pick up with experience
Four but Five
Mr Bean is my favorite member of the band
Nathan Fielder sitting on the couch
My first thought: Why the hell is Mr. Bean sitting on a Cohen’s couch???
7 :28
what is mr bean doing in the couch?
i’m not certain but that looks like dan nimmer on the couch
is that dan nimmer on the couch?
