@@nathanrking absolutely! Just make sure to use the pedal output and not the direct out. There’s different filtering on each output so it’ll “play nice” as either a pedal into another amp or as a preamp into a power amp.
Thank you for this! could you please explain a bit more; the output from the pedal, is going in to an audiointerface (which one?, and are is the gain on the interface set to 0?). And second question: there is no amp sim other than a cab / IR loader in protools?

I have a behringer 1820, and I don't remember exactly where the gain was on that but it was pretty low. No other amp sim, the pedal is the amp sim.
