    really enjoyed this trip. I also watched the Thames trip with Minimalist. I have been following them since day one, and when I catch up with them in present time, I shall begin your trips from Day one.
    I'm from Bendigo Australia, so narrowboating is certainly not happening in my neighbourhood. Again, thanks for posting and see you in the future.

    I'd love to take my boat over the Ribble to the Lancaster, but at 65ft its too long 😞
    Glad you had a good trip and Michael was on his best behaviour

    Great view point Lorna and thanks for the local information. I was thinking a drone shot of all the staircase locks loaded with the boats would have been cool. Glad you had a great day and look forward to new adventures.

    Happy to hear that you would consider living on the Lancaster Canal. Lancaster is my home town. It's a beautiful area, the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales, the Forest of Bowland and more are in easy reach. The winters can be wet, cold and lacking in daylight but still a lot of good walks, bike rides, etc. to appreciate and enjoy all year round.

    That "Maybe I'll even buy a house with end of garden mooring" brings to mind the flooding news from UK earlier this year as well as our own flooding here along the Missouri River.

      Scott FW Flooding from canals is very rare. When they do flood, it's usually because a nearby river has overtopped its banks into them. I'd live by a canal without any hesitation, but a river would need careful consideration and lots of research!

      Rivers are iffy to live by, We along the Arkansas river in the U.S. were flooded this year. But I would live on a Canal or a canal boat like yours. Great Vid I like your style in this one!!!

    ""It looked a lot calmer than when some others went up there recently!!! yep that was in May with Foxes Afloat . As they turned into the Ribble at the end of Savick Brook they hit the Ribble at full cry, a 6 knot Incoming Tide aided by a strong westerly wind took their boat broadside towards Preston , They got it under control and proceeded towards Tarleton at 1 mph. I think once you experience this you know to turn very quickly as you exit ( or just before ) the brook so that you do not have the tide hitting the boat at full length ,

    Are these boats custom made, or are they commercially available?

    • @18robsmith
      @18robsmith 2 года назад

      Both. You can get some that are off the shelf, where all you have to choose is the colour scheme, but many were built to order by their first owners, and many have been refitted over the years.

    Hi Lorna! I came here from Minimal List link. Now that I see that you have a superior camera, (or just happen to be real good at using it), plus have a nice, clear speaking voice, I am definitely subscribing. Do you have a cat who lives on your boat?

    5:56, I didn't think narrowboats had the right gear ratios to go fast enough to do NASCAR style drafting.
