- In tonight's livestream we'll be comparing two KINGS of vintage hybrid synthesis, the Ensoniq SQ-80 and Korg DW-8000. These two sick puppies are, in basically everyone's opinion, the greatest hybrids to escape the 80's, with of course the PPG Wave and Prophet VS being removed from the equation. Which of these two vintage synthesizers do you think will perform better?

I have a Prophet VS now (finally).. but you gotta love those Grit waveforms and noiseloops. Even nastier that the VS. I'm sure Trent has one hidden in his bathroom.

It’s a pity that RUclips doesn’t allow authors with music content to make higher quality audio compression, Stereo mp3 320 or WAV. Compression often makes it difficult to appreciate the true character of a timbre. It would be great if you could post a link to a WAV recording (or MP3 320) in the comments under the video, which would be uploaded to Google Drive. Ideally, a copy of the video, but with better sound. Because without video it is not clear which synthesizer is playing at a certain moment. Although if it is a synchronized copy, then I can replace the audio in Avidemux; a high-quality mp3 320 will be enough
IMHO the DW sounds richer, warmer, maybe the internal DAC, idk.
The DW did just sound awesome in this comparison.
It’s not just the DAC, it’s the waves themselves, as well as that lovely Korg NJM filter!
