What a gorgeous foam roller set... as a guy with longer hair , I can say that I heave never done a foam
Roller set however I so do regular wet sets using brush rollers or Velcro rollers and either a soft hood dryer or a pedestal dryer . I believe in doing what makes me comfortable and not necessarily what society expects of me , my fascination with rollers and roller sets started as a young child as i would watch my mother roll her hair with great intrigue and fascination.. I love your roller set.

That's seriously awesome, go you!! I'm all about breaking societal views. Everyone deserves to have beautiful bouncy hair so who cares what anyone thinks, hahaha. Yeah you should try the foam rollers! They're a bit hard to sleep on but the curl they give you is undeniable ❤️😊

Also keep trying. It took me a whole month to learn how my hair works. I learnt for me to get the rollers as close to your scalp as possible. It really does matter where you place your rollers. I do 4 rows of rollers across my head. 2 at the top and 2 in front of my forehead to create a nice fringe. but it could very well be different for you because i have VERY straight hair. :-)

You're a dead ringer for the 30/40s beauty and singing icon Deanna Durbin! I grew up with EVERY movie on her roster. I've also been a fan of yours for years but was looking up hair tutorials and this older one popped up, it's wild to see how you've grown as a creator and an artist... and how you let your real personality shine through! this video feels like you're showing much more restraint on your true floor-gremlin chaotic self :) I'm so happy that you've come so far and have let your inner chaos free. But thank you for this tutorial, I'm trying to do vintage 1940s curls tonight :)

Great video! I love foarm rollers. My hair is growing out of a pixie at the moment. so i do on-base curls with foam rollers all over the top of the head and pin curl the fringe and the bottom bits that are too short for rollers. its more of a 50s look though. I can't wait till my hair is long enough to do something like this.

Did this with a cross between a foam roller and rag roller, being its one I got from Amazon a while back specifically that you can use while you sleep with a silk hair cover while I sleep that is bandana print, it works for my thin hair, which I have plenty of, provided you curl at night with product the first night, and roll it the following nights till you wash your hair. Make sure and keep it in as long as you can before going out. Highly recommend.

In stead of a scarf you can use a hair net to help keep the rollers in, this works the best for me since a scarf slips off my head or a fabric sleep cap that is in the hair accessories/comb section of the store. I like the hair net especially in summer since it gets to hot wearing a scarf or sleep cap at night.

I need some advice please Rachel: My hair is white blonde (extremely processed) but it’s not exactly damaged or very fragile, but it is prone to dryness and frizziness because of this. I have been wanting to sleep in foam rollers for awhile now but I’m paranoid that I will distress my hair from sleeping on it often and I was going to try to use the wet set technique but I’m also even more nervous that I will pull too hard on it and cause my hair to break off.. I suppose the same goes for if were to sleep in a dry set much like yours. I attempted to sleep in a dry set of rollers but I just couldn’t get myself to fall asleep with them in, even with a hair scarf protecting it..
My proposal: maybe you could possibly make a video about how you literally sleep and maneuver with these rollers throughout the night? Any advice, warnings or tips???
    Thank you so much!!

You look just like the Molly McEntire illustration from my childhood! It was a historical children’s novel about a girl living in the 1945 and getting pin-curls done.

When do you put the setting lotion in and do you blow dry your hair first before putting the rollers in?

THIS IS SO GORGEOUS! Can you tell us what sort of haircut do you have? The shape seems to make all your curls lay really nicely...my hair is all one length which I think might be my problem.

Loved your video! I believe you can get Motions foaming wrap lotion at Sally's beauty, I use that and a little lotta body setting lotion mixed with water on damp hair, my wet sets usually last for a week or so

mutanicdecreeper Hmm I haven't tried Sally's yet! Target also ~sometimes has it, so I just get two bottles online instead of worrying about it hahaha

That reminds me of Jeanie DelPoppa's invention from the 70's, a clear face shield we used to protect our makeup (and eyes) from all the aqua-net we used back then...
Dressing capes & shoe covers ect., Anyway, my point is, ppe is and has been important yet not so much embraced, til recently that is, so protect yourself as you respect yourself, stay lovely!💋

Ughh! So discouraged. Trying to do your style for a 40s play I'm in... Don't know if it's because I have long hair or if it's the product. I've tried this several times, and it's awful. I either brush the curl out or get waves that look exactly like the other waves in my hair. Brushing made it worse. Great tutorial, but you are a fortunate one! Your hair is pretty and cooperative, whereas mine is coarse, frizzy, and terrible. =...(

Plus, the creases left by the curlers ruin it further. SOMEBODY HELP MEEEE

Here is me, quarter to midnight, doing my first ever foam roller curl attempt. Watch, pause, put in roller, repeat. Can't wait to see the mess I made in the morning!
By the way I'm also using dollar store rollers and can't see so well with my glasses off....
Oh! And I have an undercut...not sure yet if that will help or hurt this endeavor. Lmao.

Hey just wanted to say I do the same thing to my hair too and if you roll hair going upwards to your scalp you will get more lift especially in the front, Off course there nothing wrong with the way you did it and I am glad I am not the only one who just doesn't want to deal with pin curls :P

    • @rachelmaksy
      @rachelmaksy  8 лет назад

Nadine Olivier Oh interesting!! I've never tried that with rollers, I'll have to give it a go! Thank you love!

No problem. I'm always excited to see others who do similar things and see what works for them. But yeah, try rolling starting at the top and rolling down towards your scalp. You can kinda see what I am talking about on my IG here : instagram.com/p/BCCTdzvEabY/?taken-by=cupcakeandtea

Ghost Hermit Yes! I think a mousse would work fine, as long as it has some hold to it 😊 And yep you can blow dry them!
