Very nice song :) Looking at some of the comments, I think sometimes people forget that art/music doesn't always have to 'fit' the subject matter in the way an audience expects it to - it can also be effective as a unique expression of the artist's own experience of a theme or story in their own personal way. Both this and Lordvessel do this just in different styles and they're both great in different ways.
+miracleofsound It's pretty cool to see you supporting other artists like this! My respect for you has just increased even more (as if that was possible). I know you have done two DS3 songs, but have you ever considered teaming up with Vaati for a musical project? that would be super amazing.
+Rob Bay We talked about it but I prefer to keep my own songs on my own channel, as does Vaati with his edited videos. Big fan of his work though & his lore videos have been really helpful for me when cross checking my lore stuff :)
Sageofdeath Nah Priscilla, and everything you like by extension, are trash. Accept it, this is the internet. Your opinions are wrong and make you, Insert derogatory slur here, accept it and excuse me while I go back to, insert sexual euphemism, your, insert random beloved parental figure. Twice.
That was a beautiful song. The singer has an ethereal, haunting timbre which fits perfectly with the story he is trying to tell. There is a deep meaning to the echoes of "Hollow" over and over. And then when he starts using his head voice into his falsetto range... just absolute chills. I wish others would see beyond the surface of the song and really see the musicality of this brilliant song. I adored this so much! ♥
I love the soulssongs, and i love every song people make about darksouls, the games lore is perfect for this kinda music and expression. but this one...this one is by far my favorate.
Oh my God, that was so beautiful. Those musicians are amazing and the story you told as well. You going to NG plus and doing the other storyline brought tears to my eyes. Only Souls games can deliver something like that.
Honestly, the story here with Anri and Horis was just too good. It really fits the song theme that is set. I had to play the game 4 times before figuring out this ending. Thank you vaati for your Dark Souls material. I honestly wish I could be a patreon to the channel. Absolutely love the content. Keep up the great work man.
Bryce Beckley Are you kidding me man?! You just SET the bar! I can only hope to sound half as good on our next album. Your composition / strength / tone are all top-tier
Just so you know, I was instantly able to tell that this song was beautiful tale and I could understand the story from start to finish, it was truly wonderful :)
I listen to Heartist, especially the songs Skeletons and Ignite. And I fucking love Dark Souls. This makes me extremely happy. Listened to and watched this video at least 20 times already. Great work brother.
This is THE most perfect song for this series. Awesome sync................ You're version of the Dark Souls Lore is THE best...........much appreciated & keep 'em coming if you can...............
This is crazy...I heard these guys on my XM radio a while back and thought they were great then, but you went ahead and had them work their magic on one of the best games of this generation. Great job putting this together, man. Bravo.
Should have included a shot of hollowed Horace from above. When you visit Anri on the bridge before Wolnir, you can look down and see Horace in the lake. So close, yet so far away...
I dig this song. It has an Ed Sheeran "I See Fire" vibe to it. Top notch singing and production. I think when people think Souls music they think orchestral, and I feel this song is a nice mix of contemporary and orchestral influences. I especially like the deep percussion. Very atmospheric. People are calling this generic and comparing it to contemporary pop. All I have to say about that is you guys are lucky your pop stations are so diverse. This is quite a bit different than the vast majority of what I hear on the radio. Most pop music seems to all sound like Katie Parry around here. Nothing against Katie Parry, but it can get really hard to tell songs apart sometimes. I don't really listen to much radio, though (and when I do it's usually rock stations). In any case I feel this song stands out from other fan songs I've heard. Nothing wrong with a little diversity in my opinion, although I can't fault people for not liking something because they expected something different.
I feel like I agree about the musical style, but not the storytelling in the song. All the previous soulsongs held a pretty consistent theme with the story they told. Lordvessel: The journey of the chosen undead and the grief fueled war between the Lords and the encroaching dark. The End: The journey of the crownseeker as they chase Vendricks legacy and try to stave off the degeneration of their mind. Remember my name: The horrendous wave of grief and sympathy we felt for Lucatiel and her thankless struggle. Hollow: The hollowing that is never really explored as a mechanic in this world other than its connection to Londor? It just feels like the song is off subject. DS3 always felt to me like a rebellion, you're not here to fulfil this manifest destiny the gods have bound you to. You're here to forge your own path. You're unkindled, not meant to burn, but to drift off on the breeze in search of your own direction.
I can't help but feel like linking the fire is the worst of all the possible endings. Fulfilling the endless cycle of the gods by feeding the inhabitants of the world to this parasitic flame that holds our world hostage to ensure its never ending grip over us. Maybe linking the flame is a sign of hope, but to me it's a false hope, Gwyns empty promise revealed as a lie, a means to exert control over a world that needs to find it's own path and allow the world to change and grow. Gwyn ended the age of dragons and ushered in the age of fire, then adamantly refused to recognise when that too was bound to reach its end. You call Aldrich a terror, but is he any worse than the First Flame? Both consume the powerful of the world to feed themselves, both do so out of selfish purpose. Aldrich is just more honest about it. He recruits the Pontiff and his knights, the Flame relies on the desperation and trickery of others. Both are mosters that need to be snuffed out.
the first flame is not the problem, its the firelink curse in and of itself, Gwyn linked Humanity to the flame so it would burn out Humanity's darkness and prolong his era of light and gods.
there's something special about this one for me. it applies really well to dark souls. But even if you removed souls from this song and its meaning, we've all felt hollow and hopeless at points. I keep coming back to it, really great work.
so was I the only one who saw their own playthrough flash before their eyes while watching this? this video actually half inspired me to continue that playthrough, to right what little I could. thanks for another great video vaati
But really, 'spoilers'? I wonder when people will stop considering them to be 'spoilers'. Is there a certain line that has to be crossed in terms of timeframe before that happens, or is it just when the people decide to stop bitching?
One of the best souls inspired songs imo. The tone fits with the serie's theme much more than lordvessel. I've been listening to it for a few days now; it keeps growing on me.
All of these songs that are made with amazing effort and each one of them tell a story that makes me truly appreciate not only the soul series (including blood borne witch i totally think should get a song :3 hint hint) but also the community for making things like this that can truly show how these games can change how some one thinks and how it can enact so much emotion. Keep doing souls lore Vaati and I hope that the community for these games never stops making these amazing works of art.
It's a great song. The story through video clips and the song matches really well. As a die hard souls fan i'm almost crying whenever the community gives itself such great gifts.
I've followed Heartist for a long time, and i didn't expect them to make a song about this game, or for it to be like this. Definitely different from what I've come to expect from them.
God this was awesome, the part where he beats the game and goes new game plus, and in the end decides to just burn himself after already going through the whole thing is just intense and i love this thing
before you ask. lore videos take time and effort. he needs to get all the info possible about the poeple/places before he makes the video. give him time and stop complaining. it's been a month people. darksouls is known for being subtle with its lore.
+SirWetBiscuit Yea... No the dude literally plays the game multiple time just to soak in every detail. Still haven't found other lore videos that touch his level of depth. But ok
This song is a pretty apt description for chronic depression tbh. Like you keep fighting for the sun(happiness) even though almost everything on that journey is going to try and keep you from it but you keep fighting cause it beats feeling nothing but numbness (hollowing)
+VaatiVidya I got something you should look into. I think the nameless King is Gwen's first born. if you read the item description of his weapons you'll see.
LYRICS: I pray to the sun as the world grows dimmer The fire fades and I'm alone There will be no solace in this journey, no peace until my mind erodes Hollow, hollow Don't let me go Hollow, hollow Whisper a prayer for the souls I've surrendered There's no coming back from what I've done A trail of ashes lay before me in the chaos I am cursed to roam Hollow, hollow Don't let me go Hollow, hollow I don't even know how I found myself here I don't even know why I wander I don't even know how to find my way home Hollow, hollow Don't let me go Hollow, hollow I pray to the sun as the world grows dimmer The fire fades and I'm alone I'm hollow
Considering for me Anri was a character I’ve really connected with and found myself wanted to protect and save so bad this song really pulled at the heart strings for me but it also connected with me on a personal level with made it all the more special it’s my way to remember and grieve over Anri and I appreciate that
Hey Vaati man, when's the next video? it's been about 2 weeks without a video from you. Your vids are epic and I want more, I've been subbed for a while and it's weird not having a vid a week lol.
Anyway, MoS now and MoS about five years ago are two different things. Gav is one of the most famous game musicians, there's no living gamer who does not know him imo.
Oh wow this is awesome! I saw Heartist as an opening band years ago on tour for Crown The Empire and the fact that they came back up in this context is really cool. They're really awesome and I talked briefly with the singer after the show. They're all really cool people though definitely give them some support.
Not a bad song by any means, but I wish they would've taken a note from Lordvessel. These past two songs have been really sad to match the tone of the games, but Lordvessel was the opposite. It was a really uplifting song and it made you pumped and you felt as if there was a whole community behind you as you struggled through the games, through pvp, and in a combined effort between you and the community, eventually triumphed in both. This song and "Remember My Name" are really missing that spirit, I think. That's just my opinion though, still a good song.
+FeelTheFieber I gotta agree. While I like melancholy songs like this one a lot, nothing quite beats the rallying cry of hopeful songs. We just gotta remember that it takes the melancholy and darkness to make the hope and light mean what they mean.
Very nice song :) Looking at some of the comments, I think sometimes people forget that art/music doesn't always have to 'fit' the subject matter in the way an audience expects it to - it can also be effective as a unique expression of the artist's own experience of a theme or story in their own personal way. +miracleofsound That's cool. Thanks for replying.
+miracleofsound hooly shit dude did you used to post on the Escapist? I remember listening to everything you released
+Matt Johnson He's only gotten better since those days. You owe it to yourself to check out his recent work. It's just mind blowing!

Ahhh, but these are refreshing. An artist paying artists to fuel art for a community of people who appreciate art. Wonderful, Vaati. Keep them coming~
HELLO! I didn't expect to see you here!
I like your stuff man, keep them coming :D
The world truly is a small place
I cant stop listing to this. Priscilla's tail/10
+MEGA musician So you are saying it is trash? Like Priscilla is.
+GinyouRinsom No Priscilla is the bomb her fans on the other hand are not.
Sageofdeath
Nah Priscilla, and everything you like by extension, are trash. Accept it, this is the internet. Your opinions are wrong and make you, Insert derogatory slur here, accept it and excuse me while I go back to, insert sexual euphemism, your, insert random beloved parental figure. Twice.
+GinyouRinsom I like your style good sir.
I like how this video is a better guide to Anri's questline than any kind of walkthrough I've tried.
HOLLOW FROM THE OTHERSIDEEEEE
+BigDaddy loooooooool
+VaatiVidya Hey Vaati, just sent my Spanish subtitles for the song. I think they're quite fitting.
+BigDaddy I MUST'VE DIED A THOUSAND TTIIIIIIIIMMMMMMEEEESSSSS!!!!!!

This song gives me chills. Such a pity that the cycle is ending and Souls is over. They will remain some of the best games ever made.
That was a beautiful song. The singer has an ethereal, haunting timbre which fits perfectly with the story he is trying to tell. There is a deep meaning to the echoes of "Hollow" over and over. RudiLande, you mean this guy miracleofsound?
I love the soulssongs, and i love every song people make about darksouls, the games lore is perfect for this kinda music and expression. but this one...this one is by far my favorate.

Make America great again
+Illusionary wall ahead Will do sir. I love that there's only one thing I don't have to make great again and its Dark Souls.
You're fucking cringy af bro
Nik Shillingburg dont cry you manchild
TheSavageNerds rather be an edge lord than a cringe lord
Oh my God, that was so beautiful. Those musicians are amazing and the story you told as well. You going to NG plus and doing the other storyline brought tears to my eyes. Only Souls games can deliver something like that.
Don't know if there is anyone is still here in 2023 but I'm still listening to this glorious banger of a soulsong
Last 2 days of the year and I'm here!
"Spoilers" xD
+Alessandro Bertoni xDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

Honestly, the story here with Anri and Horis was just too good. It really fits the song theme that is set. I had to play the game 4 times before figuring out this ending. Thank you vaati for your Dark Souls material. I honestly wish I could be a patreon to the channel. Absolutely love the content. Keep up the great work man.
I wish this song was on Spotify, I love it!
Hey, Vaati? Did you know Anri will make a grave for Horace if you tell her about him and what happened at Smoldering Lake?
I have footage if you didn't know and wanna see.
+Nick Tucker makes you feel all the more guilty for them both going hollow and having to kill them... :(
Sage Schispell Yep.
Where can you find this grave?
The smouldering lake but you have to kill Horace then tell Anri about him, then help Anri kill a boss later
Dude, that singer is NUTS. So good. Huge props. - Aleks from Tanooki Suit
+Aleks K. He is, but your Lord Vessel will still be the best! Love your songs alot
I appreciate that greatly man! Lordvessel was fantastic, just trying to live up to the bar you guys set ;) - Bryce from Heartist
2 years after release I still get goosebumps from the singers voice, emotions and the video.
I listen to Heartist, especially the songs Skeletons and Ignite. And I fucking love Dark Souls. This makes me extremely happy. Listened to and watched this video at least 20 times already. Great work brother.
EPICNESS.
Hollow from the other side lolz
lol
i was thinking about that lol
i must've died a thousand times
haha
LMAO
Better than "The End" but can not top "Lordvessel"
Still pretty nice.
+Zurakci
lordvessel #1
I agree with your opinion. 😊
lordvessel is indeed the best one
+Inglorious Bastard Still sounded good, opinions.exe
+Zurakci yeah... "Lordvessel" is still to this day #1! this one isn't bad though... "if only I can be so grossly incandescent..."
This has to be the best yet vaati. For a while I've been waiting for another great song from you and an amazing band!
This is THE most perfect song for this series. Awesome sync................ You're version of the Dark Souls Lore is THE best...........much appreciated & keep 'em coming if you can...............
Your rhymes are sick, your beats are fat, but where the DS3 lore at?
That poem though
Literally the message about Anri and Horice is in there. It's a little hard to understand tho.
All those subtitles man, I have respect for you
Anyone else had this stuck in their head over the past few days? XD
years.....
you mean years
Synching the sword plunge into Anri with the clap was beautiful
This is crazy...I heard these guys on my XM radio a while back and thought they were great then, but you went ahead and had them work their magic on one of the best games of this generation. Great job putting this together, man. Bravo.

never noticed
+Trey Westfall you're just a ray of sunshine aren't you?
+THAT GUY It certainly DOES have an effect.
Raymund Noodles
Ok, fine, fair enough it does, but still, it's the most used thing on the internet at this point
hey vaatividya nice video and well thank you for being my favorite youtuber man thank you so much
+VaatiVidya its ture
I dig this song. It has an Ed Sheeran "I See Fire" vibe to it. Top notch singing and production. I think when people think Souls music they think orchestral, and I feel this song is a nice mix of contemporary and orchestral influences. I especially like the deep percussion. Very atmospheric.

It just feels like the song is off subject. DS3 always felt to me like a rebellion, you're not here to fulfil this manifest destiny the gods have bound you to.

I like that each soul song is essentially a different genre. The Anri quest line honestly had me crying tho.
So uh... About that Edwad Emberpants DLC run...
If it's not Lordvessel it's not... Oh wait, this isn't good, it's downright amazing. Great job by the band.
Fucking tune lad. Nice work :)
Never expected you to be here. You two should do a collab some time.
e e love his stuff
The ass King I have musical talent?
The ass King christ knows
so was I the only one who saw their own playthrough flash before their eyes while watching this? this video actually half inspired me to continue that playthrough, to right what little I could. thanks for another great video vaati
Listening to this on a sunday before an oral exam. I don't know anything, sunday depression is kicking in... Don't go hollow...
This Vaati guy just stole Edwad's original soundtrack™!
Why so many dislikes? This is fucking great.
Because people complaining about "spoilers".
A month now yet people still care, it's like fallout 4 all over again...
+Enderlord Alatreon and there not lore videos which i feel like he should have made a few already
jake Steel He's probably working on them as we speak. He has a lot of work to do first.
But really, 'spoilers'? I wonder when people will stop considering them to be 'spoilers'. Is there a certain line that has to be crossed in terms of timeframe before that happens, or is it just when the people decide to stop bitching?
The simple answer to this would be "humanity" or "never"
"DO NOT MAKE ME HALLOAW"
-edwad
One of the best souls inspired songs imo. The tone fits with the serie's theme much more than lordvessel. I've been listening to it for a few days now; it keeps growing on me.
All of these songs that are made with amazing effort and each one of them tell a story that makes me truly appreciate not only the soul series (including blood borne witch i totally think should get a song :3 hint hint) but also the community for making things like this that can truly show how these games can change how some one thinks and how it can enact so much emotion. So does Edwad Emberpants get a song too?
"You think HE is the chosen undead?"
+Patrick Bateman We actually sang a bit in the last gameplay session.
It was horrible
+VaatiVidya Such beauty in music.
+Patrick Bateman new soulsong confirmed soundcloud.com/b-rain-2/edwad-the-chosen-one
+Criken2 Vaati and Cricken? My fangirlometer is off the charts!

Be wary of Friend

The Edwad remix was better
So true ^^
Dont let me go
haaallo don led me go haaallo
THE LEGENDS NEVER DIES
just discovered this channel and i seen a lot of comments aboht Edwad version. Where can i found it? thank you
Vaati does it again... how does he even make everything work so well together
It's a great song. The story through video clips and the song matches really well.
As a die hard souls fan i'm almost crying whenever the community gives itself such great gifts.
As much as I love Lincoln and her music, this is my favorite souls song so far!
This came out on my birthday, awesome
Who still hear after 5 years
How can people dislike this. In my opinion it's the best Dark Souls songs out there
Out of all the SoulSongs you've posted this is the absurdly great one. Yes even (in my opinion) passing out "Lord vessel"
Such a good song! One of my favorites!
Best soul song I've ever heard. Beats out Lordvessel by far. Both in video and music.
I love the atmosphere of the souls games
I've followed Heartist for a long time, and i didn't expect them to make a song about this game, or for it to be like this. Definitely different from what I've come to expect from them.
Haven't been the biggest fan of Heartist's more recent stuff, but the fact that they made a Soul's song nullifies that.
vaati you are the best youtuber

Enjoying the EmberPants series... on the edge of my seat waiting for some lore, though.
Well it's a nice song.... But wasn't what I was hoping for when I saw a new video XD.
God this was awesome, the part where he beats the game and goes new game plus, and in the end decides to just burn himself after already going through the whole thing is just intense and i love this thing
I really enjoy how my brother and can just say "hollow" and understand we're talking about this song :)
before you ask. lore videos take time and effort. he needs to get all the info possible about the poeple/places before he makes the video. give him time and stop complaining. it's been a month people. darksouls is known for being subtle with its lore.
He needs time to steal content from other uploaders.
+SirWetBiscuit Yea... No the dude literally plays the game multiple time just to soak in every detail. Still haven't found other lore videos that touch his level of depth. But ok
that's because most people do not see the need to make videos that copy paste from wikipedia pages.
Or maybe he takes time to make a better video + lets the smaller channel get the views till then?
nah
I see a lot of hate in the comments but the like to dislike ratio says differently, I feel haters just like to make their voice heard more
+12SgtDeath most of the dislikes are due to the HEAVY spoilers with no warning
true
+RaineKittyful Agreed
+12SgtDeath the song isn't that interesting the story told with it makes it work though
Hater just means you hate something hate and dislike are pretty similar so thats why
im here because of criken
Niko Metiz who oh do you mean edwad
Preston Garvey ITS *EDWAD* TIME
This song is a pretty apt description for chronic depression tbh. Like you keep fighting for the sun(happiness) even though almost everything on that journey is going to try and keep you from it but you keep fighting cause it beats feeling nothing but numbness (hollowing)
I just went back and watched the previous souls songs. This one is definitely my favourite.
At least it's better than everything on Eurovision.
nice but lore when?
+Diego Silva Lore was last video and it's next video as well.
VaatiVidya Yay!! Can't wait!
+VaatiVidya I got something you should look into. I think the nameless King is Gwen's first born. if you read the item description of his weapons you'll see.
+VaatiVidya Fuck you
+ad campbell he is and his name is Faraam
LYRICS:
I pray to the sun as the world grows dimmer
The fire fades and I'm alone
There will be no solace in this journey, no peace until my mind erodes
Hollow, hollow
Don't let me go
Hollow, hollow
Whisper a prayer for the souls I've surrendered
There's no coming back from what I've done
A trail of ashes lay before me in the chaos I am cursed to roam
Hollow, hollow
Don't let me go
Hollow, hollow
I don't even know how I found myself here
I don't even know why I wander
I don't even know how to find my way home
Hollow, hollow
Don't let me go
Hollow, hollow
I pray to the sun as the world grows dimmer
The fire fades and I'm alone
I'm hollow
so in this video, he actually fix everything in the second journey, and link his soul to the first bonfire. NICE
this honestly has me close to tears, the story is depressingly sad. good job
Beautiful song, good job Vaati :D Have a like!!!
inb4 everyone hates this because it's not lordvessel
I just realised a good ending for ds3 would be if you helped anri the entire time she would join you in linking the fire
Considering for me Anri was a character I’ve really connected with and found myself wanted to protect and save so bad this song really pulled at the heart strings for me but it also connected with me on a personal level with made it all the more special
it’s my way to remember and grieve over Anri and I appreciate that
It's songs like this that rekindle my love of Dark Souls, and all of my video games and playthroughs.
Lore video when?
Hey Vaati man, when's the next video? it's been about 2 weeks without a video from you. Your vids are epic and I want more, I've been subbed for a while and it's weird not having a vid a week lol.
Vaati, when the fuck are we getting some more lore and such m8
Saw an upload... Thought it was lore or prepare to cry... I wasn't ready to cry when I found out it wasn't what I thought... WAAAAAAH
Had no idea Heartist did this and they're one of my favorite bands
Quality content, Weekly.....
do you know Miracle of Sound and his DS Songs?
I really hope vati does
+XNecroEyesX I think he does, yeah.
+XNecroEyesX Gav noticed Vaati in his last Souls-video. Yeah, sure he does.
+ViVar I know that gave knows vaati xD I wonder if it's vice versa ;)
Anyway, MoS now and MoS about five years ago are two different things. Gav is one of the most famous game musicians, there's no living gamer who does not know him imo.
Theme song for Edwad Emberpants pls.
It would just be "No, Edwad." On repeat.
Oh wow this is awesome! I saw Heartist as an opening band years ago on tour for Crown The Empire and the fact that they came back up in this context is really cool. They're really awesome and I talked briefly with the singer after the show. They're all really cool people though definitely give them some support.
simply love the first 2 minutes of the song. your video fits in perfectly. great work. my respect to both heartist and vaati.
HOLLOW HOLLOW IM GOING HOLLOWWWWWWW- EDWAD
Praise the Song! \`[T]/
By far my favorite soulsong, gonna be listening to this all week lol Goodjob M8!
After people started funding you on patreon, your videos got slightly better, however, much farther in between.
Safety does make people lazy.
