Honestly it's a mistake he made at the end. If the father didn't care much when op didn't know the truth it's isn't now that he gonna change. The last conversation they had should have been enough for him to understand that. The father in reality wants to cut all ties with him.but don't want to look like the ultimate AH in this story, so he agreed to work on this doomed relationship. OP is wasting his time.
How did DNA test compare parentage without his father’s sample?
Given how "dad" never emotionally attached to OP, it's more likely that he showed up for the meeting to end things for good; given how much of a wet noodle he is, and knowing just too well that it was all his fault that things came to this point, he couldn't pull through though.
As "i" understand the portrayed situation, OP is delusional if he thinks there would be anything to "salvage" "relationship-wise"; a "dad" (in a solely emotional sense) who wouldn't object to photos of his child being discarded, who wouldn't mind pieces of childhood memories to be thrown to the trash, who wouldn't invite his "son" to family gatherings and who would shruggingly refer to all of such as "leaving past mistakes behind" clearly is noone who even "wants" a place in OP's life.
Add his wifezilla and her obsessed need to fight a battle of jealousy against a kid into the mix (apparently, she acted so right from the start when OP was only 14; and THAT is the woman "dad" chose to be with after all...) and be realistic. OP pulled the short stick in the family lottery and won't even by some miracle receive just a consolation prize.
p.s.: The storyline gets messed up with the dna-test. "Heritage-tests", as popular they are in some places, neither are overly accurate, nor can they tell one "anything" about genetic relations to a 3rd person- OP, being well in his 20's and living on his own, most certainly wouldn't have had "dad's" hair samples lying around for spontaneous use - and that's completely ignoring the simple fact that "hair" is only used in forensic laboratories, commercial testing institutes pretty much solely work with saliva.

Sometimes, a Father can be just a sperm donor, or they can raise you. A Dad is the one who raises you with love, no matter what.

If you aren't going to take people's advice, why not tell people when you originally post that you are just venting. Because when folks know you are venting, they understand not to take it to heart since you aren't. Ok so clearly this doormat OP doesn't need his "Dad" in any way so why not try and reach out to his actual dad....the story just glosses over the fact and that makes it 100% obvious it's a fake story....I know a few people who are adopted and love their parents but even they have at one point or another reached out to their bio parents to have a relationship or even just for closure. None of them did it because they hated or disliked their adoptive parents hell one lady even does holiday dinners with all sets of parents (4 sets as the bios are married to different people) and there is no bad blood just different relationships....so for this doormat to return to his neglectful parent is really disappointing....I mean it's one thing to still be in contact but a whole nother thing to want to continue a relationship with such a person.....I disliked this story on so many levels but mostly because it's kinda Stockholm vibes
