Something for other people to know - after about 4 years of service, the speakers gave out. I suspect the problem is somewhere on printed motherboard, with faulty capacitor/capacitors most likely cuz the speakers were kept in very good condition. Since I don't have equipment to solder out and measure capacitance of each separate capacitor to see if fault is with one/some of them, I can't test the problem. For now I set them aside to fix later in future and am looking at Edifier speakers for replacement.
@@CyberCatTechnologies Mine seem to be waterproof. A tiny amount of water landed on top of one of the two speakers and was able to fix it but the other speaker indicated the speaker system was working quite well. Am still unable to make Windows 10 find them but it will take a while. I love them and if there is any problem can replace them.
i was wondering about buying these speakers but after watching some reviews i still love Creative rather than Micro Lab, using Creative t6160 5.1 for 5 years still works superb. Sound, bass great, sub is decent deliver so accurate bass! mind blowing!
Got mine today. And the analog ports won't work. Tried different sources, cables still nothing. HDMI works fine. Edit: Many hours later got a new cable and it's all good now.
About the non working optical cable port - at first I thought I had a defect as well. Than I cranked up the volume to 40 (max is 60) and the sound became audible. Makes me wonder - the other people saying their optical cable port didn't work, did they make super sure to try to crank up the volume above 50%?
What makes you think I have not tried it. There are plenty of things I have tried. And gave it over a year, but this set of speakers were not worth it. I still have their SOLO15 and SOLO6C they work fine. But this was such a disappointment, on top of that, no warranty claim anymore for us in Australia.
Hi, there is no update. The distributor of this brand has gone under. To my knowledge no other distributor has picked this up, as I write this that is. With regards to budget 2.0, this is a difficult brief to meet. You see, those who want a 2.0 system, know their music. The purpose it serves is rather specific. Thus, funds go into refinements. Its harder to find a 2.0 that is cheap. Microlab on the other hand was one of those who just put up a slab of beef if I may say so. 2.0 with whole lot of power, in a large box, off you go. Though I have to say, their older products were pretty good. Lots of words, but little said. I could not offer you a recommendation with regards to 2.0 system that will meet the same price with same power delivery, and possibly even decent.
Is the optical input still not working? I'm thinking of getting a pair of 9c's, but I need to paint them black which would mean losing the warranty, so in case the optical port dies on mine as well, I'd be shit out of luck. LE: I've read online that the optical cable is very low quality and that could be the reason yours is not working anymore. Have you tried a different cable before assuming the port itself is broken?
Hi, I'll just answer the last bit of the question. I have tried different optical cables, three different sound cards, two different computers. Also tried coax cable without much luck, and the HDMI connectivity lasted a very short while before it also died. So yes, I am certain about my conclusion as much as I have pride about my integrity.
I was just asking as I've found others that have had problems with the cables provided. Thanks for the quick response, I'll stay away from them because of what you've encountered, I can't risk that considering I want to paint the wood part black. Cheers
Salesberg In the end, I got them today. Don't ask why, but I can return them. First off, the wooden sides look good in my setup and there is no need to paint them and lose the warranty. I connected them only with the optical port to the TV, watched a bit of TV, a BD movie and played some PS4 (especially SW Battlefront which has amazing audio) and they sound pretty good. Considering their price, I am happy with them. If I compare them to my main PC speakers (Audioengine A5+) or older speakers I've tested, they're clearly not as good, but they're really good considering the price and they seem to be enough for my TV use. I hope my pair will be better along the road and won't break down like yours, other than that, I'm glad with the purchase. Thanks for the video and the info in it!
Mate, I wish you the very best of luck and hope you get years of good use out of the new speakers. BTW - give it about a week to wear in, the sound opens up a bit more, the mid is restrained till then.
In the next weeks i order the 9c... in one romanian site, the frequency responce is analyzed and show the more linear response in the treble and bass, and more deep bass, more "subwoofer type".. the mids in the 500 hz 1,5 khz is little distant
it's disappointing to find out they are bad build quality . I was planning to buy them for my HT/HTPC setup they sounded decent enough in the store wen i tested them and with the connectivity options for the price i was thinking i found something to get .. Well shopping on for me it seams ...
Hello there, I'm thinking about buying either these, or the Microlab SOLO7C. Which one do you think is better? I am looking for a balance between a decent amount of bass and clear sound. Thank you.
You will get decent amount of bass with both, a bit more with the 9C of course. Clear sound is where the issue is subjective. I have used both and both have the tendency of overpowering the mids with lows. If you like bass and that is all you care about get the 9C. If you like quality of sound (as in without compromise), neither is a good choice.
@@DANIEL1991zxcvbnm I did not say not good exactly. Reducing the bass will take away the balance a bit. The speakers are overall reasonable, but if you want pure quality sound then perhaps something else would be better. Mind you I use these everyday, and I mean EVERY single day at home. But I have it paired with another set of speakers to service the mids.
@@CyberCatTechnologies I had been intending to buy myself only 7c for some time. from what someone talked about the web, the sound gave, thanks to the double mid-bass woofer, a warmer sound full of mids and lows ... better in this sense compared to SOLO 6c. In last days, I found the 9c at an affordable price, I hoped that the sound was simply more refined, as someone on the web says ... of course it's all relative, but it made me a little discouraged your judgment ... I was looking in particular for a good-priced system that would give me a sound with a great sound wave / soundstage, together with the midrange and bass ...
I'm glad that you are doing research before committing. I speak the way I saw things, no more no less. Some things are good and somethings are not, and I have to say it like that. I know in RUclips there are many who only say good things about products, but nothing is perfect, and I point out things that are not perfect as well as things that are good. So you can make your choice knowing both sides.
