      Yes, it should work the same way. If the direction is wrong or the servo is lock up then you need to swap the motor polarity or the potentiometer wiring or possibly both. Don't attach the whole mechanism yet. Test if it works first before putting everything back together.

      If you swap the polarity of the motor, you have to swap the potentiometer wires too. I don't remember which of the 2 to swap but try untilk you find one combination that works.
      Actually if it spins in opposite direction but it works, you'd better use the reverse or REV function on the transmitter.

    definite rookie here but you might enjoy a watch, slapped a WPL C-24 toyota pickup body onto a WPL B-1 frame, axles atop the springs not under, a long 0.5 modulus 8t pinion (on 20k RPM 180 motor) direct to output gear of the gearbox. the thing drifts pretty good considering. front hubs are only lined with aluminum can and light grease to reduce the slop, yesterday morning did minor filing to the front hub stops to get a tiny bit more steering angle from it. in the video (oh my low quality camera lol!) it's being run on asphalt (ouch!) and I'm not so good drift driving... but you can see it is fairly well behaved inexpensive little project. maybe WPL will see it and become interested to produce a low budget drift model? it's fun anyway.

    • @BeaversHobby

      It's the reverse of this process. You can take a 3 wire servo and then take the board out then you'll have 5 wires, 2 from the motor and 3 from the potentiometer. Next it you'll have to find out how are these connected on the receiver board.

    • @BeaversHobby
      @BeaversHobby  2 года назад +1

      If it has 3 wire then the wiring is the same. You can solder the wires directly to the board. Or even easier, cut the wires and plug the stub directly to the pins.
      Throttle reverse... if the brake works correctly but the motor direction is reverse then you can swap the polarity on the motor wires. If the brake applies on going form reverse to forward then... that's unfortunate. The best you can do is open the transmitter up and swap the wires on the throttle pod to reverse it.

      3 wire to 5 wire is reverse of this video. You just take the controller board off 3 wire and it'll become 5 wire.
      You can convert pretty much any servo. You'll only need the controller board at the correct size. If the servo is big then you need to use servo board from another big servo.

    • @BeaversHobby
      @BeaversHobby  4 года назад

      @@sachin4524 3 wire servo has control board because it gets signal from the receiver directly.
      5 wire servo doesn't have board because it's controlled by the mainboard of the car so it doesn't need one. When you take the board out of 3 wire servo, it's 5 wire servo with 2 wires from motor and 3 wires from potentiometer. Knowing this you can take any 3 wire, take the board out, solder the 5 wires inside to a new plug and plug it into the original board of your car. No need to swap the potentiometer or anything. 3 wire is just 5 wire with board.
      I don't know the exact reason why your servo keeps breaking because I don't know the car and how you drive. I found some pictures of the car and I can only speculate that your servo doesn't have enough power and durability to pull those big wheels and tyres. This kind of car needs servo with high torque and metal gear.
      I think the best way is to upgrade it to proper RC electronics and install receiver, ESC and servo so you can replace the broken part directly without modding it.
