  • Making loose holes fit somewhat tight again. Lots of good welding, cutting, and grinding.

    Poor design is good for business when welders like us get the call to repair the equipment. As much as I complain about "engineers who design bad products" I like the money after I have repaired the equipment! Top job young man!

    Yep, stupid design. I don't think the guy who designed was concerned with longevity. Looks to me like there should be a sleeve for the pin at thr point you welded and a hinge if you need that piece to have some flex. all with zerks of course. BTW. glad to see you post. I hope all is well

    How did you get so lucky to not fry the seal when you used the torch to cut that fitting off on the cylinder. I know you got skills, but were you concerned? Glad to see you back

      You can pull your ram as far forward as you can so the heat is not on top of your packing. They can suffer some pretty hot times as well because oil gets hot too.

    I guess that the manufacturer considers them consumable items so they can sell more.👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

      Like a lot of things these days, stuff is designed badly so it wears out fast or it has stupid use by date like a grinding disc and if a new one doesn't get used by the date, they expect you to just throw it away and buy new. Wasteful politics in my opinion.

    Looks to me like the slots are there because someone didn't want to redesign the geometry for the cylinder stroke.

    hello sir i got a question, how do you prevent cutting slag/debris from entering the cylinder when (flame) cutting the bung off?

    • @mwilliamshs
      @mwilliamshs 29 дней назад +1

      Extend the cylinder. Fill with oil. Repair. When finished, collapse the cylinder before connecting. Any debris will be flushed out with all that oil from step #2.

    • @EEJester1586
      @EEJester1586  28 дней назад

      You do try to keep slag out as much as you can by watching your flame and pushing your cut away from the hole. For grinding you can put wet paper towel in the hole just don’t forget to remove it.

    Ya that seems like a bad design. Something with sleeves over the pins would be better I think. Nice repair.

    HI ho i could not understand why they double plate the eye holes giving a thinker bearing surface there plenty of space there to do it but like all thing now days it made $$$$ not lasting performance or building a great company name you can count on

    • @EEJester1586
      @EEJester1586  Месяц назад +1

      That’s exactly what I thought. Could have welded a 1/2” plate top and bottom and gave it a 1” wear surface would have made loads more time on the ears.

    Built in obsolescence is the manufacturers term for crappie design. Repair parts are important to return business income. Buy my machine. Later, buy my repair parts.

      The uneducated cite planned obsolescence (you couldn't even get that right).
      Your lack of education does not change the complexity of the world around you.
