- One of the oldest breweries in Pennsylvania, The F&S Brewery, has a history that runs deep in the coal region. Learn about the history of how the building came to be, the changes it went through during the prohibition era, and the plans it underwent as part of the revitalization of the Shamokin area.
Fuhrmann & Schmidt Brewing Company, formed in 1906, was located at Commerce & Washington Streets in Shamokin, Pennsylvania. F&S was the successor company to the Eagle Brewing Company.
Andy, thank you for saving this piece of history, for telling the story and for your commitment to Shamokin’s past and future
Thank you for commenting. We have a few more videos detailing the history ad future of these buildings. The road is long, setbacks occur, but the horizon is always in sight. Cheers!
Great job Andy Twigger
That’s awesome to see! I am one of great grandchildren of PH Fuhrmann and am very interested to see how this project comes out.
Wow! It’s so good to hear from you and hopefully I could get your story, too! I’m glad it’s going to be saved and not turned into a parking lot.
I grew up in Sunbury and I remember going out to Shamokin to go cruising. Made some friends along the way, and the universal greeting were, "Ya hungry?", or "Did you eat?".
Thanks for the history of this old Brewery.
Did you eat might have sounded like "J'eet?" Thank you !
