I enjoy your video’s more and more! Me and my husband are 73 years old, each of us grew up with getting a cedar tree from the hills of our Arkansas homes. We each went to a one room school early on and at this one room school, the community would have a pie supper around September, then the proceeds would be divided up equally so that each student could look through a Sears catalog to choose what we would like from Santa. We would pull a curtain across the stage and have a part to memorize for our Christmas play. Then on that special night, our parents and community would pack in to that one room schoolhouse and we would perform,then Santa would come down the aisle, after we’d all performed for the community and he would hand out our presents to each of us. Boy, did we feel big and important when we heard the applause.My husband is a Baptist minister, and I’ve always been a stay at home to our four daughters. We are blessed by our Almighty God, and by the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! Merry Christmas!🎁

For supper that night, we have shepherds pie to honor the shepherd who were the first to be told of christ birth. and we also have angel food cake to honor the angel who gave the good news. Awwww congrats on the beautiful babe....We have done Christmas the Saturday before the actual Christmas day for the same reasons...to many kids trying to juggle inlaws etc....works out better. I'd rather have them all together on a day where everyone can relax...and enjoy...with nowhere else to go.

Growing up our family had the aluminum tree w/the color wheel & my mom only used glass red ornaments on the tree. It was fascinating seeing the tree turn colors. I was the oldest & only girl & had 4 younger brothers. My dad was stationed in Furth Germany the yr i was in 3 rd grade & we had a real christmas tree that yr since our tree was in storage w/things in the states. My Dad ended up going to V. Nam so by 4 th grade momma, my brothers & I was back in the states.

Tried and LOVED this recipe-like you, Brenda, I love spices, so I adapted from another recipe and it was amazing with your recipe! 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1 teaspoon nutmeg 1 teaspoon ginger 1 cup pumpkin puree The rest, I followed yours! I loved how crispy the outside was and chewy and moist the inside was. Amazing! Oh! And it was gluten free discard as my son has a gluten sensitivity… LMK if you happen to try it when you do it for Xmas!

Christmas will be at my house this year (we share/trade holidays…every other year!) and will include about 2/3 of my 4 children, 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 3 great, greats! One son & family in Canada, one in MT…but rest within distance of me here in NE Nevada, so it will be chaos, indeed….but every one shares in the chaos! Deep-fried suckling pig on the menu, prepared by adventurous grandchildren! I don’t have to do anything except tell everyone where stuff is that they might need to use! and they all clean up!! My favorite Christmas memory will always be when our 4 kids were old enough to get up VERY early on Christmas morning to sneak out and get all the ranch chores and feeding done before their dad even woke up…their Christmas present to him!!! We lived at 6200’ in the coldest part of NV (I have fed cows at -52°!), so it was a real gift for him not to have to go out and feed the animals and break the ice in the creek…and it was ALL the kids’ idea! I had nothing to do with it! Your blog brings out all the emotions of the season for me…but mostly gratefulness that I have wonderful memories and experiences…and others are continuing to have them and passing them on! I miss having young kids around for Christmas. My girls are now young adults...not married, no grandkids yet...except for a gorgeous step grandson born on Halloween. Sadly, he lives across the country so he won't be here Christmas morning. But, one thing I've learned over the years...Christmas is what you make of it. Merry Christmas to you both!!!
Our favorite Christmas tradition is having a cake for baby Jesus. When my daughter was three, I told her the story of baby Jesus. Of course she asks why he doesn't get a birthday cake. So from that year on, we have a birthday cake. It has progressed to not only cake, but we actually have a birthday party with hats, noise makers, and decorations. Last year Jesus had a bluey birthday party!
