    The biggest advantage of wheel woolies over other brushes is that they don’t splatter all over your hands and face, and of course the amount of solution they carry

    • @SpeckyMcSporran
      @SpeckyMcSporran  4 года назад

      That's a really good point, wish I'd thought of that for the video! I splattered my hoody with brake dirt which flicked off the bristle brush 😭

    I'm a fan of Built Hamber's Surfex HD to clean the wheels at 7%. It's PH neutral so can be used on paint and won't damage the layer of protection. I can't find the need for a dedicated shampoo for wheels. Sonax BSD works awesome on wheels too and it gets applied after every wash in my case, keeps cleaning so much effortless!

    • @SpeckyMcSporran
      @SpeckyMcSporran  4 года назад +1

      I've used Surfex for so many things including wheels. The main reason I like wheel shampoo is lubrication for the brushes or woolies. And if the wheels are particularly bad I can use a dedicated wheel cleaner first and add the shampoo to it.
      I use spray and rinse products for wheel protection, much easier.

    good review mate. same price as CYC have the whole kit for £48 plus delivery. i like my EZ mini brush plus my Tuf shine tyre brush, but these look really good value and since my Outback has partial two-tone wheel colours (black gloss), might be a good investment. 👍

    Have been thinking about these but the different kits they have is very confusing!! All i can find is the length if the handles are different and maybe the width of the brush head? They do look good and if you splash the cash on a wax at £40 then why not the wheels? Keep up the good work mate and please stay safe🌈

    • @SpeckyMcSporran
      @SpeckyMcSporran  4 года назад

      Thanks Philip! You're right, if you buy luxury chemicals/waxes etc then why not brushes? The set I bought is a fairly standard set but some retailers sell them individually so you can get what you want/need. 👊

    love my Wheel Woolies I've had them for years but sadle my large woolly will not fit my new wheels now, but you never know what car you going have next.
    make sure you rinse and dry them out good after, other wise the chemicals could rot them.

    i went and got the EZ detail aka speedmaster large brush and the loo brush for the arches, and they are probably the best brushes I've found to do my wheels with. i had been sleeping on them for a long while, but finally took the plunge. i had been using the halfords Wheel brush (chenille MF noodles on a stick), but wasn't really happy with the fact I could never get behind the calliper. other than that £6 for a barrel brush that did the job was pretty cool.
    I always use hot/warm water with a dedicated wheel shampoo (got a good deal on Autoglanz hoops last year), and the bristles always spring back to life
    I would agree that the WW could be work spending on IF you made a poor decision on getting those butter soft gloss black rims :)
    I would say that these WW brushes may need that extra looking after over the EZ brushes, over how long they actually last for.

    • @SpeckyMcSporran
      @SpeckyMcSporran  4 года назад +1

      I've heard from other commenters that they last a good long time as long as you rinse them thoroughly. I totally agree, they're more luxury brushes than regular wash. 👍

      @@SpeckyMcSporran Just to say that I have found an alternative. Meguiar's Supreme Microfibre Wheel Brush. As far as I can tell they don't have a small, but look similar enough for me to have a look at them for the softer, more delicate wheel finishes. i don't think they are as plush as the woolies, but might be worth a look (for me at least, as Halfords have them 20% off right now) :)

    • @SpeckyMcSporran
      @SpeckyMcSporran  3 года назад

      Good question, old oily waxes possibly did but modern waxes leave a slick surface on the paint. There are still a few products that leave a less slick surface so try to use the slickest if you're worried about dirt sticking to the paint.

    I've been looking at these, and the EZ ones, recently... Still in 2 minds whether to splash the cash on them but I just don't think my current (10 year old, not-looked-after-by-previous-owner) wheels are worth it... Maybe I'll save for a refurb and factor in the cost of decent brushes when the time comes.
    I cannot, however, comment on another great video of yours without a comedy moment... So... I was watching at a low volume at home and had captions on - ordinarily this would be fine, but today it it kept saying 'wheel willys'... I won't tell you how far the coffee sprayed when you started talking about the bigger one going in farther 🙈🙈
    Keep up the good work 👊🏼

    You missed the most important feature of wheel whoolies specky which is durability. Might be expensive initially but my set is at least 4 years old, probably older & still going strong. Those cheap nylon bristle brushes in my experience don't last longer than a year. They lose their shape quickly if you intend to use them in tight areas & most importantly, they are far too aggressive & scratch, especially after a few months when they begin to 'bunch' up. Especially bad on gloss black alloys.
    Wouldn't be without my wheel whoolies. Couple them up with a vikan soft face brush, a detailing brush & a £2.50 flat noodle brush from home bargains & you can clean any alloy design safely & thoroughly.
